1.
They can but that situation wouldn't arise. The point is we are a collection of musicians providing their own take and their job. I really am lucky aren't i.
a touch arrogant maybe?
 2.
Yeah i think my defenses were just up due to the tension about the gig situation, also due to the guitar player not learning the songs meaning i had to lead the songs, always difficult when you feel you are carrying someone else
Hey we've all been there, it's difflicult to be diplomatic sometimes, and things get taken the wrong way very easily
If they want you to.play what's on the record they should pay you the same amount JPJ would get. I'm so glad I'm in my band. We play our versions of other people's songs. Make most if it up as we go along. Have a lot if fun and get paid well
that's fair enough, but if someone thinks that the changes you've made don't work they should be able to say so, in the nicest possible way
 3.
Well i think it was somewhere along the lines of"can you not play that fancy slide bit as they don't play that in the original song" i forget the exact words used
depends how it said, I think it's a bit sad that band members can't have a conversation about how a song is played without others taking offence, but like I said it's the tone that's important
 4.
I once did a dep gig where the only full time member was the singer (although though the dep drummer used to play nearly as many of their gigs as the official drummer). A couple of months later they did a gig where everybody on stage was a dep - even the singer / band leader couldn't make t...!
wasn't Dr Feelgood was it?
 5.
Thanks for 'going on', John! This is an interesting checklist for me as I have my first (proper) dep gig coming up on Sat and I'm still a bit concerned about a couple of the things on your list. In particular, song arrangements. They are all Rolling Stones covers, one or two in different keys which they have told me of in advance and I'm fine with. It's just the arrangements I'm concerned about. If they are exactly as per the original recording then fine, but if they suddenly chuck in an extra chorus or do a longer/shorter intro then I'll need to be on my toes! Also how are they ending the ones that fade out on recordings? Plus I still don't know the estimated start time. Just been told we're 'last on'. Also been told 'don't worry, have fun, it's just a charity gig'. I'm not really comfortable with that attitude - there is still an audience there who are going to want to enjoy it. I don't expect they'll mind if I don't sound exactly like Bill Wyman, but I think they might notice if I'm still playing a final chorus when the rest of the band have stopped, lol! :-) Having said all that, I'm still looking forward to it. I was really pleased to be asked (I previously played in a different Stones covers band and sax player who is in both bands recommended me). And I love playing all those old Stones hits, so as long as I turn up at the right place and time I think I can probably wing it!!! :-)
this sort of cropped up at recent gig, a friends band were doing Holiday in Cambodia, as we do, our singer was asked to go up on guest vocals of course up he gets, I'm thinking I wonder if they're doing the album or single version, I counted the length of the solo, single version, as we do, they get to the end where we do the album version outro, our singer did it, the rest of the band did the shorter single version, a complete car crash ensued
 6.
We're doing a gig in about three weeks with a dep drummer. I won't lie that I am a little concerned...I think we have one rehearsal with him and another half rehearsal (we're playing another gig the night after the first gig and want to have a run through with our actual drummer). Our original guitarist came back for a show once, we did do a set based more around his tenure within the band and that went OK.
at least drummers can't play the wrong notes we've only used deps twice and that was old members helping us out, never used a total 'outsider' can't say I'm keen, as Hiram said it just wouldn't be the same, even well rehearsed deps do things differently, when you go and see a favorite band with a different line up it's never quite the same, if any members of ours are unavailable we don't do the gig, doesn't happen very often, we're all only in one band
 7.
Was it an airbus?

Too soon, man. Too soon.
yep, there are some people bad taste jokes don't work on, Buddy Holly is one of them, I've always found he has total respect
 8. still not heard from anybody that's hired a dep and it's not worked out for whatever reason, have they always been a success then? because I've seen them, one dep guitarist I saw used a music stand (fair enough) but was really low in the mix, when you could hear him you knew why
 9. this has cropped up in a current thread, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/310399-should-i-cancel-gig-i-am-going-to-for-my-bands-gig/page__pid__3354119#entry3354119, I didn't want to take it off subject and it's something I've always thought wasn't a very good idea, in an originals band especially, anybody got some good and bad stories about using deps? is it worth risking your bands reputation by having a car crash gig?I'm not talking regular deps here, we used our old drummer at the weekend for instance, but as a one off
 10.
Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958 'Er Indoors and The Boy are in Seattle visiting relatives. They went out for dinner this evening and came across this - Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958. And they sent me a picture. Amazing that it still exists. Felt a bit weird seeing it really, a mixture of incredulity, a sense of musical history and an unexpectedly poignant feeling, too. Or maybe that's just the drugs.
shame he didn't stay on the bus
 11.
When Buddy Holly & The Crickets landed back in the US of A after their world tour in May '58 with cash in their pockets they decided to buy motorcycles and ride home the 350 miles . The three of them caught a cab to the nearest motorcycle dealer's shop in the right direction . The Harley Davidson dealer thought they were just time-wasting kids and threw them out , so they tried the next shop , which happened to sell British bikes . Here they were recognised and treated like royalty so they rode home though a thunderstorm on two Triumphs and an Ariel . Rock 'n Roll ! Buddy's '58 650cc Ariel Cylone was up for auction 3 years ago :- https://www.autoevol...lery-86354.html
thanks for that, hadn't heard that before I always wondered why they were riding British Bikes in a well aired film of them riding round Lubbock on motorbikes
 12.
We use an online calendar that each band member can access to avoid this type of situation. But that only works if everyone actually fills it in.... In your situation, I'd not only take the wife to the gig that you have tickets for, but I'd also be on the look out for a new band to join.
this, if someone says they're unavailable a gig shouldn't get booked, simple, on the other hand if anybody'e forgot to fill in the calendar I would expect them to do the gig, having said all that we do double check with everyone before confirming any gig
 13. the EQ on the Rumble is a bit limited but try turn the bass knob down it cuts around the 80Hz mark, just in case you haven't got it here's the what all the controls do Bass: +/- 15dB @ 80Hz Low mid: +/- 12dB @ 280Hz High mid: +/- 12dB @ 1.2kHz Treble: +/- 15dB @ 10kHz Bright: +13dB @ 10kHz Contour: +1dB @ 80Hz, -13dB @ 670Hz, +2dB @ 8kHz Vintage: dynamic compression (-9dB max) with low pass (-6dB/oct) @ 400Hz EQ chain is: Bright > Vintage > O/D > Contour > EQ
 14. yeah, bass frequencies are the ones that soak up the power, that's why we need 500 watt amps and guitarists need 50 (unfortunately not all of them understand this)
 15. all Lloyd Webber songs sound the same to me, can't stand musicals
 16.
I would imagine that most people don't have Trace Elliot stuff is because the Elf head date continues to be pushed back. Ha! However, on a serious note, I still have my old boxer 15 practice and which still works perfectly after 18 years.
I may be wrong but the Elf is going to be nothing like the old Trace stuff, can't really see the point of having a head that small, a class D with no graphic, how can it be?
 17. u block didn't work for me, having said that I've not had it for a few weeks now
 18. easy, long strap, at least below the waist and play with a pick
 19.
Indeed, far more accurate. Here's my result (Yes, I know; I'm deaf ...)... Far from the 'Under 25' that the other rubbish test gave. Jokers..!
hey congratulations I do believe you're deafer than me, I too have the fall off a cliff at 4K but goes back up for 8K
 20. find out when they are available, get it down in a band calendar, book the gigs for then, of course if they're unavailable at short notice it sounds like a massive headache to me
 21. 30 to 40 what a load of bollocks I know I'm deaf this is a far better test, mimics what audiologist use https://hearingtest.online/
 22.
I bought an 250 SMX about a month ago on BC out of curiosity, have since done 8 gigs with it and am absolutely in awe.. It's ridiculously loud, has every conceivable feature you could want, and is compact and not at all heavy. I love it. How is it SOO much louder than amps with three or four times the power? Witchcraft I imagine.
here's the answer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI6YbqrRK3g&t=188s I think sometimes they left out the anti gravity juice though
 23.
Not sure why Paul has not considered contacting Fender, given a similar thread and scenario a few weeks ago with a different Fender Amp.....has to be worth a shot, it will cost you an email/phone call!!! Oh, and the other amp was s/h too and Fender replaced it.
I've got extended warranty from Gear4music, contacted them and they said send it back but it cost £10 and I haven't got the original packaging, wanted to find out if it was worth a punt before I did that, my thinking was that Fender wouldn't replace speakers just say I had abused it, can you post a link to that thread please?
 24.
This is V3? How old is it? No problems with mine but I don't push it.....maybe I'll look to see what speakers are in it.
2014 bought it second hand, had a look at the speakers not much info apart from made in China, Eminence 16 Ohm and some numbers which don't seem to be part numbers, I don't think they're Neo's
 25. Took my Rumble in for repair suspecting a blown speaker(s) the guy told me Fender had loads of these back and had stopped using the Chinese made ones, the thing is I've got extended 5 year warranty on it but assumed Fender wouldn't replace the speakers under warranty, now I'm beginning to think it might be worth the £10 postage to send it back, anybody else had experience with dodgy Rumble speakers?
