  1. Headsticks have done very well and are reasonable big on the gigging circuit, we're not in that league. We easily covered costs on our first 3 albums, which is all we wanted, we recently remixed our first album, , added some live tracks, we were never happy with the original recording and it had long since sold out, we have struggled to sell the 100 copies we needed to recoup the costs, which is what prompted the singer's wife's (too many apostrophes Dad?) comment. We can still sell T shirts though 😃
  2. Not sure whether that's a jovial reply or not. we've already got 3 albums out, that's enough posterity for me 😊, we don't expect to make money just recover costs
  3. The Competition and Markets Authority have released their report into music streaming services, not good news for the pitiful rate that artists get, not surprising really, the public (like me) are getting a cracking deal at the expense of the recording artist. As our singers wife pointed out the other week, when we were discussing poor album sales at gigs, hardly anybody buys CD's anymore. It's unlikely, that we as a band, we will release any more albums, we'd struggle to even recoup the cost of recording and production. edit, forgot the link https://www.gov.uk/government/news/music-streaming-report-published
  4. my tastes are rather narrow, it's tricky keeping it down to 8 That'll Be the Day - Buddy Holly I'm a Man - Spencer Davis And Your Bird Can Sing - The Beatles All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix Street Fighting Man - Rolling Stones Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath Chasing the Night - The Ramones Safe European Home - The Clash Not a big reader, so a book of sudoku puzzles Luxury item would be a pub
  5. 🤣 that's right, that'll teach me to rely on my fading memory, got the Bryant bit right.
  6. you may mean Buddy Holly, the Everly's had a lot of hits written by Bryant and May
  7. to fully appreciate to impact the Beatles had, (too quote one of our American cousins 😊) you had to be there, I can fully understand why someone under the age of say 65 would have another fave band, the music we hear in our teens stays with us forever, being a few years older than 65 I can say the Beatles are my fave band of all time
  8. one of the advantages of Basschat is that singers (and guitarist) don't come on forums for bass players. at least I hope our Singer doesn't 😂
  9. in our band if someone really doesn't want to do a song we don't do it, sort of choice by consensus, there's plenty out there to choose from
  10. basically you need as much overdrive/ distortion as you can get
  11. don't sack the singer till you've got another one lined up, being in a band is a minefield, finding people you can sort off get along with and have similar musical tastes is very difficult.
  12. it's been around a while, is this a revamped model?
  13. I use my Zoom B1on with the BA Metal patch, I think I get pretty close, P bass with DR neon strings, others may disagree, can't comment on flats, I've never used them
  14. I spent years trying to improve my HiFi, eventually I decided it doesn't make a bad song better no matter how good it sounds, the situation you're listening in makes a far bigger impact, ( like down the pub in good company on a crappy juke box, the backing track to an advert or TV program, or even driving the car). I use ad based Spotify, sounds fine to me, mind you, I am a bit deaf these days. Which brings me back to the Revolver remix, yes it sounds better, but once the novelty of trying to decide if you can hear something that you couldn't before wears off you're back to listening to a great album, would I shell out to buy it? no.
  15. the better arms had a counter weight, the weight on the stylus should be around 2 grams if my memory serves me right
  16. the Revolver remix and additional tracks are now on Spotify, non Beatle fans look away now 😀
  17. I've just moved onto to thinner picks, I used to use 1mm on bass, have gone down to ..60mm nylon Dunlops, and for acoustic guitar down from .60mm to .46mm, less strain on the old thumb joint 😊
  18. cheers, heavy cabs are not easy to shift these days, I paid £85 for it but that included postage, it's been sitting in the spare bedroom for a few years now, can't see me using it again, it's also on FB (see my recent Scam thread), someone is supposed to be coming round tomorrow morning, cash in hand. Just tried it out, it does sound good, shame its on the heavy side
  19. that does sound plausible, after all they don't really want the item, so there's no point in obtaining it from you, they'd have the hassle of selling it on to get any money out of the deal
  20. I've had a Zoom B1on for about 5 years now, use it at all my gigs and practices, no issues at all
  21. Yes I knew it was a scam, like you say, couriers don't hand over cash, just wondered how it worked
  22. 23. I've got an item on FB marketplace, someone has been in touch offering to collect the item using a DPD, they will give me the cash on collection, how does this scam work?
