1. I've got a battered Hondo 1981 is this a Matsumoku?
2.
How the hell didn't they think of that?
because there's loads of people out there who are totally incapable of organising anything, every band needs someone who tries to anticipate problems before they happen, in other words a nurse maid, perhaps that ought to be in the OP's list as well
3. somebody named their band the same as us, so our drummer sent them a like request for our FB page, needless to say they didn't click it, don't know whether they're still going or not
4. if you're completely f**ked without a pedal, you shouldn't be without a backup, sods law dictates if you haven't it'll go wrong, I use a zoom 506II all the time but I have a spare.
5.
You guys need to play more bass!
Practice every 1 or 2 weeks, 2 or 3 two hour sets every month, I would have thought that was enough
6.
You know... I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one on here who LIKES rehearsing! The reason, I get to hang out with people I like and play music and have a laugh. Having done that we can go play some gigs too
used to like rehearsing, but that was when we were all mates, after a while all the sh*t that goes with being in a band sort of gets in the way of that, plus, unless you're doing new stuff it all becomes a bit pointless if you're gigging regularly anyway
7. I use DR neon pink or green, the coating comes off where I thrash them with my pick but they never seem to die on me, the last 2 sets I've put on didn't sound any different new as the ones I'd taken off after 6 months
8. so you're after 4 blokes with roughly the same tastes and abilities with no other commitments and no full time jobs?
9. one of the most important things I've found is that you all like the same sort of music, if people aren't enjoying what they're playing they ain't going to hang around for long, and there's no mention of what standard you're looking for. I personally wouldn't dream of joining a band with what appears to be a total control freak in charge, sorry, but that's the way it comes across
10.
and the piece of equipment is less than 12 months old you don't need a cert at all.
so you can just say your gear is less than 12 months old then? It's just another pain in the arse, we share the storage and transportation of gear, the only time it's in one place is at a gig
11. my band have been told that we need one on several occasions but nobody has ever asked to see it.
12. has anybody been asked for this before they play a gig? we never have, in fact nobody's even bothered looking at the labels on the equipment
13. one band is enough for me, dealing with lack of commitment and ego's takes away a lot of the pleasure, do a bit of open micing that way I can please myself without letting anybody else down. edit, it came out a lot more bitter than it was supposed too
14. wonder how many bands keep proper records? it's just a hobby for most of us, we have to deal with enough red tape in our normal jobs
15. I've messed about with the action to try and get the clanky tone of JJ Burnel, never had much luck, I've still have a lowish action which rattles a bit when I hit the strings hard with my pick, but any clankyness gets totally lost in the band situation mix
16. like someone else I use prescription shades, that way I just look cool, or a pratt for wearing sunglasses indoors, take your pick, our singer went down the contact lense root when it got to the stage he couldn't read font size 28 set lists
17.
For example?
as I said earlier, all Carlsboro amps seem to get slated but I used a bass beasty for a few years with no complaints
18. I wasn't getting any for months then changed my email address and started getting them
19.
Imagine... A bass with no controls! Paradise or heresy? We'd have nothing to fiddle with or worry about. Could make for some nice clean designs, though.
I never touch the controls on my bass, apart from to check they're full on
20. bypass the pots entirely, see if you can tell the difference, you could leave it like that and use your amp to alter the tone and volume then you know nothings being taken away from the signal, I believe Mike Dirnt does, or did this
21.
Hmmm not as easy as that! The player has to play their grooves/loops live and simultaneously hit the record, so it takes a deal of skill to be able to get it right (hit the start or stop a fraction late and your loop is out of time)..
yes there is an extra skill required but it's not the same as seeing a whole band perform, I don't like seeing a drum machine used it's seems like cheating to me, mind you I don't like my music to be overly complicated which is a trap that the loopers I've seen fall into
22. as far as I'm concerned loopers are no different from someone using pre recorded backing tapes, don't like them at all
