I once had a go at drums, the main trouble I had was dissociating my hi hat stick with the bass drum pedal, I found practice a bit boring after a while, so gave it up

[/quote] that's happened to me as well, that's why I put a bid in for the speaker stands, but as I've found out it doesn't make any difference.

IMO it's a bit ott, last time I wanted a trap about 5 years ago I just walked into the local music shop and asked them for the longest one they'd got (it's got to be long if you want to rock, tin hat at the ready) it's a fluffy neon pink one, see my avatar I'd be gutted if anything happened to it, as you've probably gathered I don't take myself too seriously

we've just had the storage/transportation problem, it got resolved by everybody being responsible for different bits, I got the speakers (biggest car) the singer the PA/mixer, monitor and leads, the guitard got the mic bag and smoke machine and the drummer got the lights and speaker stands, working so far

we don't take the money out straight away that we get for gigs so band funds bought the PA, nobodies left yet so I'm not sure what'll happen then, as for somebody buying it then renting it out to the band isn't that the same thing except somebody gets a PA for nowt?

I've also heard of people getting tinitus from bangs on the head

Don't think the big difference is paying out £150 against £20 for earplugs, it's how soon you start using them, lets be honest the vast majority of people start using them when the damage is already done , I know I did, I now use Alpine safe pro and find them excellent, certainly got no intention of shelling out hundreds of pounds.

the guy came round this morning with his money but didn't have his password for ebay, so I finished up just ending the aution by selling instantly to the highest bidder which was him for £22, so I did try, I'll report back if I hear anything from ebay. Got to agree with giones, ebay charges are ridiculous when you factor in paypal as well but they've got a monopoly in effect because you reach so many more potential customers with them, so you get a higher price. I did sell my Stingray on here though when I worked out how much it would cost on ebay, I got less money but gained when charges were factored in and a fellow bass player a cheaper Stingray, and I did ebay out of some money win, win, win.

seeing as how I've just got tickets for the original line up Quo tour, the Status Quo LP's (that's vinyl to our younger members) from Dog of Two Head up to Blue For You, they started to lose the plot with Rocking All Over The World

I'm selling some speakers on ebay and a guy contacted me using the ebay email service and we agreed a price, he's coming round to pick up the item. Should I do a quick buy it now price and let him win the auction and pay the fees or just end the auction early? or any other suggestions

I've only ever bought CD versions of vinyl records I already own twice, the first 2 Undertones long players, just been comparing them like for like and I have to say the CD versions do sound a little crisper, but then again the vinyl version have been played hundreds probably thousands of times. Having said that it's still a lot more fun putting a record on the turntable than a CD in the draw. Anybody else done this comparison with newish vinyl?

I'm just reavaluating stuff since I got my hands on some different speakers and already I've come to the conclusion that mp3's played through the computer or personnel mp3 player sound dreadful (not surprisingly) but resonable bit rate mp3's burnt to a cd and played though a HI Fi sound ok, as regards vinyl v CD's I'm coming to the conclusion it's not the CD format that's the problem but the way modern stuff is mixed, everything's compressed to death to get more volume with the result that there's no space around the different instruments, having said that there is a magic with vinyl that digital music will never match, could be a age thing though

got my hands on some Mission 760i's (at a bargain price too) and have to say they're marvellous, really clear and focused, which means I can hear what the bass is doing, went for them because they're the easiest to get hold of second hand. Thanks to everyone who offered advice, much apprieciated.

P basses have a mid scoop? depends where you think mid is, I would say anywhere between 300 and 1000 hz, a hell of a difference when you boost or cut any of these frequencies

that what I thought, with no science to back it up, I found something else out that's odd, they're biwired, if I take off one of the terminals on one speaker the bass unit stops working, if I take off the same wire(not exactley the same wire, if you know what I mean) on the other speaker the mid range and the bass speaker stops working, i.e just leaving the tweeter, spooky huh?

now I'm confused.
