1.
Hope you don't mind, I've copied that and pasted it in another thread :-)
not at all, which thread?
2.
Not sure if this helps but I discovered yesterday that my message notifications had been re-classified as spam by GMail. I marked a couple 'not spam' and it's been fine since then
I've checked the spam folder, there's nothing in there
3. of course, this opens another can of worms, how many of these live albums are actually totally live? not many I suspect
4. I run a MB4210 with a 1 x 15 extension cab, great sounding amp and LOUD, never have it anywhere near full power, a word of caution though, quality control is not the best, or wasn't, so it might be a good idea to buy locally, you might have to take it back.
5. Glad you included the PS, The Ramones - It's Alive there has been something similar recently http://basschat.co.uk/topic/157507-when-a-live-version-is-better-than-the-recording/page__fromsearch__1
6. done that, still no notifications
7.
I once played an entire song a semi tone flat just to prove a point - that everyone else was far too loud for a rehearsal. At the end they all looked really pleased with themselves and decided to move on as we had nailed that one. I asked if they thought I should play flat for the gig as well and just got a load of blank looks. I really did wonder why I was there sometimes but they did say on a few occasions that I wasn't that they had noticed a difference.
I once played an entire song a semitone flat once, and I didn't notice, did worry me a bit till the guitarist also said he was in the wrong (right) key too
8. Good God, I hate bass solo's even more now, which reminds me of a joke. Guy taking a taxi from the airport on holiday hears some drums in the hills and asks the driver what they are, he replies "when drums stop, very bad". He hears the drums all holiday and every time he asks someone about it he gets the same reply. On his way back to the airport he gets the same taxi driver and says, "look I know if the drums stop it's really bad, but what exactly happens" the taxi driver replies "the Bass solo starts" Mind you, I hate drum solo's as well, so I'm not going there for my holidays
9. no I don't get any either, tried all the things suggested
10.
- When I saw the title of your thread I got a bit excited that the above had actually happened! Damn you!
fixed, I might even get more replies now
11.
- When I saw the title of your thread I got a bit excited that the above had actually happened! Damn you!
sorry, guess it was misleading,
12.
Well it`s unlikely to be me, though not for the want of trying Every time I try and get my fellow band-mates to larn this, they conveniently "forget". I mean, a Christmas song by Thin Lizzy & The Sex Pistols, does it get any better? http://youtu.be/5Q1mKdd4_uU
me and my band did that one year, good fun, we usually do Gary Glitters Another Rock and Roll Christmas these days
13. guess not , huh
14. like I said, plenty of people will disagree, all I know is I've bought basses that I thought were fine at first but later decided they weren't for me, and I've never been comfortable trying out basses in shops, always found it intimidating.
15.
Trying them out in a shop is really important if you ask me.How else will you know how a particular bass feels? I pretty much know what I'm going to get tonally with any Fender, but they all feel different to me. Go try out loads-it doesn't matter if it's US,Mexican,Japanese,Chinese or Squier, try them all and go for the one that you like the most. Don't discount the secondhand Market either. I generally favour Jazz Basses over Precisions-although I own 3 of each.
fair enough, there is the feel, I've never had trouble getting on with any basses I've owned, J or P necks but I've got quite big hands, it's always been the sound that matters to me, which I think you can't tell about till you've lived with it for a while and had a few band practices, so buying second hand is a good idea, if you don't like it chances are you'll get most or even more of your money back. Being cack handed I suppose I've been forced down that route, finding shops with any selection of lefties is practcally impossible
16. going to the shop to try them out is a waste of time IMHO, as soon as you play in a band situation everything changes, it's how a bass sits in the mix that counts, if you play in a band with just one guitar I'd go for a P, it's got a fat tone and fills the sound out better, but plenty of people will disagree I imagine
17. I use nail varnish but wonder why the hell the manufacturers don't make them clearer, yes you fender, with a rose wood neck it's nearly impossible to see them in anything other than bright sunlight
18. anybody know why Fender make left handed Mexican Jazzes by the truckload but no P's?
19. I've got a MB4210 which I use with a 1x15 extension cab (not a marshall) and agree with comments made on here, great value for money, very loud good sounding amps with build quality issues, mine had faults when I first bought it, Marshall gave me a replacement which also had a broken spade terminal on the speaker wire, but since then I have not had any trouble at all in about 50, 2 hour gigs.
20. my battered Hondo professional II, first bass I had, bought it for £40 off a mate and it don't sound half bad, I use it as back up now for my MIA P bass (never needed it yet but you never know), it's got sentimental value and as above, it's worth f*ck all
21. you ought to do (insert any song from the last 50 years) it would go down really well. If we took everybody's advice we'd be doing 5 hour sets by now.
22.
"Let's do 500 Miles for the encore, everyone loves it...." oh god!!

Holy crap! I would actually rather f*ck The Proclaimers than do that number.
We always do 500 hundred miles as a first encore, great singalong, usually followed by Nellie the Elephant, goes down well at beer festivals
23. a tab I put on bassmasta, UK SUbs tommorrows girls, is now on http://www.bigbasstabs.com
24.
Marshall aren't really about engineering though, they are all about colouration.
way above my head, I just think they sound good
25. Marshall recommend their 1x15 cab as an extention to their 2x10 or 4x10 combo's, nuff said
