  1. now I'm really offended, thought is was Ed doing a cover of this, what a disappointment
  2. I think stuff is only offensive if you don't really agree with it, which is a personal thing, for instance some wouldn't find Boris Johnson is a f**cking C***t offensive and think it's funny because they don't like Boris Johnson or his politics, but if the lyric were Jeremy Corbyn is a Jew Hating C***t, they might find it offensive, or least not funny. Some (most) find Right Wing bands offensive but some wouldn't. We do a Sid Vicious inspired My Way but the singer won't sing Sid's "I'm not a Queer" lyric, which, these days is probably a lot more controversial than the lyrics in Bodies, how times change Sorry if anybody has been offended by some of the things in this post
  3. I don't think so, but it has made me more aware of other people being bullies, I notice verbal bullying on here sometimes
  4. yes, another name for me was moon face, thankfully since those days I've got slimmer and my hair, never being that ginger, unlike other hair on my body 😆, has turned dark brown
  5. and me, but if you showed it, it just got worse
  6. I had something similar, was the output transistors, cost me about £130, you could try bypassing the preamp by plugging into the effects return while using a FX pedal to boost the volume, if it still sounds distorted it means it's the power amp or speaker, try a different speaker if you've got one to see if that's the problem
  7. I suppose it's how you define race, are the West Indians a race? or are they Black Africans? I not sure, I'm not being woke here btw, I get offended by people being offended, just trying to point out double standards
  8. well I suppose it's racist against Americans, if the same thing had been said about, say, West Indians all hell would break loose
  9. as @Happy JackAuld Lang Syne, but we learnt it, simplified, first verse and chorus repeated, 3 chords, piece of pi55
  10. I've got a GP12 SMX, but it's a AH250, no fan, fairly light at 13Kg
  11. my mistake, I wrongly assumed they made good quality basses then started doing cheaper ones, a bit odd making cheap basses then good ones then cheap ones again (I've just read the wiki page). I've got an early 80's made in Japan one with DiMarzio pickups, a decent bass despite having a heavy ply body.
  12. our gig is going ahead, much to my surprise, our regular guitarist, an anti vaxer, has Covid for the second time, but we have a backup who's played with us before. My attitude is it's up to the individual as to whether they want to take the risk of going to the gig or not, for instance my partner who normally does to all our gigs is giving it a miss, I have a much more risk tolerant view
  13. I still use a B1on, the only trouble with them is adjusting patches is a faff, but once they're set up to your liking they're great, I recently got hold of a Tech21 Leeds pedal and have set up the Zoom to sound more or less the same
  14. yep, the original (good) Hondo's were made in Japan, then they moved to Indonesia, I think, not so good
  15. probably for the best, but you could use a bass amp (you may have another?) with a cheap distortion pedal, I sometimes even use my Zoom B1on
  16. out guitarist gets a better distorted sound out of his 50 watt Marshall valvestate than he does out of his all valve Marshall
  17. and like an apprenticeship, you'll need guidance from someone who knows what they're doing, knowing something doesn't sound right and knowing how to fix it are two different things
  18. you tube have dealt differently with copywrite issues on covers of songs I've put on there, they either don't pick them up, or the original songwriter isn't bothered, Daydream Believer was taken down (with a warning), when I uploaded a version of Mrs Robinson, it said they'd detected that the song was a cover and we wouldn't get any royalties for it, a couple of other covers I uploaded at the same time went through with no problems, go figure
  19. I wouldn't dream of recording at home for commercial releases, I'm with @BigRedX on this, however I can do reasonable home demos just using free software, one of the revelations was when I started using reverb to fill out the sound it always sounded to clean and clinical before that
  20. we did another Rock and Roll Christmas a few times, went down ok, not sure who realised it was a GG song though 😂
  21. that's what I understood, the venue buys a PRS license and that's it, haven't a clue how the PRS distribute the monies, only once have we've been asked for our set list for PRS purposes
  22. bugger, I try and be careful, about upsetting the grammar Nazis 😃 fixed anyway 😂
  23. we've been asked on a handful of occasions in about 600 gigs to have equipment PAT'd and once to have personnel liability insurance, not once have we been asked for proof it's been done.
  24. I wouldn't know tbh, what I do know is I really enjoy a pint of Rockin' Robin and Olde Trip, I don't enjoy Greene King's ales like IPA and Abbotts, they have a funny taste to them YMMV
  25. well that's my theory, it's very similar ( the same IMO) to Olde Trip, made for the Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem when it was owned by Kimberly Brewery (Hardy Hansons), more info on this fascinating pub and a photo of the Olde Trip beer pump for bass players not familiar with Nottingham's most famous drinking establishment. https://thirdeyetraveller.com/ye-olde-trip-to-jerusalem-england-oldest-inn/
