Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
PaulWarning replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
judging by the latest tier rules, in which Boris seems to have a real downer on the hospitality industry, it'll be a while before pubs open properly -
yep, the bloke is an arrogant narcissist, which is why he makes a good frontman, the best ones usually are, like Morrissey

So, you're the headline act and...

I've seen the Glitter band a couple of times (both versions) and the GG songs have always gone down a storm, great songs you never hear anymore, but I suppose the crowd went along sort of expecting them -

Definitely not, Gary might have had a weakness for young girls but at least he wasn't boring -

Zoom B1on with the Sansamp Bass Driver sim and the AC Bs pre to take out the stuff below 30Hz -
If I didn't listen to someone's music because I didn't agree with their politics they'd be very little left for me

not sure if Andy Williams was the original. Wonder how long before Sid's My Way makes an appearance?

Your choice for Bass Amps to include in Modeler
PaulWarning replied to Tubster's topic in Amps and Cabs
is it just me that thinks amp modelers is just glorified pre set EQing with distortion thrown in (where appropriate) -
I'm sure they do, but it's the old, is a MIA Fender 5 or 6 times better then a Squire argument? would anybody be able to tell the difference in a gig situation, very doubtful. I'll keep an eye on the 2nd hand market
-
I'll be following this see if you can induce enough GAS for me to upgrade my Zoom B1on, tried the B3 couldn't tell any difference in the effects I use, mostly distortion and EQ
-
just tried that, p bass straight into inst 2, the clipping light doesn't come on even at full gain

I found out the direct monitoring is working but at a very low volume, I have to have everything at max to get a reasonable volume, I think the trouble may be that I can't seem to get it to work with an ASIO driver

up until now I've been using a cheapo Xenta usb sound card for recording onto my laptop, I decided to take a small step up and get a Behringer UM2. With the Xenta monitoring was no problem, no latency at all, (this is before I launch a DAW) the only way I can get monitoring to work with Behringer is to tick the 'listen to this device' box in sound-recording-properties box and with came latency even if the direct monitoring button is pressed.

ok got it, have to click on write effects at the bottom, doh, no problems for me, I made sure I clicked on all the B1on effects as well as the extra ones I wanted and all my own patches were still there sounding as they should. Have to say, most the effects in the same category are basically the same, they're just got different settings, I downloaded some guitar amp sims and you can get them sounding the same as each other with a bit of tweaking, I suspect I could get the bass amp sims and distortion/overdrive effects sounding like the guitar ones if I did some tweaking, but hey, saves messing about
-
2 questions, will it delete all my existing effects and patches, and I've selected the effects I want, got the B1on into firmware update mode, what do I do next? I can't seem to get the window up that's shown in the video

yes 30 million doses secured, the do know who's most vulnerable, the elderly by far and away, and those with underlying health conditions, those are the ones that are given the flu jab every year, there are very few younger healthy people that have died from Covid -

I understand our much maligned Government has managed to secure 15 million doses, which should be enough for the most vulnerable, the rest can be just left to catch it like normal flu, which will mean, hopefully, life returns to normal -
Fave vocalists who aren't much cop at singing
PaulWarning replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Mick Jagger's still got it, I'd like to hear Rod trying some of his early stuff before passing judgement, but it's true that some singer's voices go, Macca springs to mind, and others seem just the same as always. Went to see a 60's show a few years ago and they wheeled Chris Farlowe out, he looked awful, overweight and with this massive Hawaiian shirt on, we feared the worse, but when he started singing Out of Time he sounded just the same, a jaw dropping moment, after he'd done the compare said he'd be back when he's had some oxygen, I think he was only half joking -

I think his voice has gone, last couple of times I've heard him live he's sounded ropy, generally sticks to crooning these days -
probably, Sudoku's for me, I'm hopeless at crosswords

we've got 3 left in December, it all depends on what rules are bought in after the lockdown

no it wasn't, it was one of the on board entertainment singers, they were doing a show of 70's music, fortunately they only did one punk song 😄 -

Almost all the punk vocalist had a 'distinctive' style, but it wouldn't have worked if any of the punk bands had a proper singer, if you've ever heard Pretty Vacant sung 'properly' as I have on a cruise ship, you'll know what I'm talking about
