  1. new basses do come in just the cardboard box, but are they insured? Also I would imagine that the courier would look far more kindly on a claim from a major retailer who gives them loads of business than little old me
  2. that's part of the problem, I think they insist on a hard case, but it's not worth getting one for a sub £200 bass
  3. as the title, is it worth paying out when sending a bass with a courier, don't they all exclude musical instrument from insurance? BTW the bass is under £200
  4. I answered no, but I do use a bit of overdrive all the time, which, I believe, acts as a sort of compressor
  5. although not would you'd call prolific, I've had very little trouble on ebay, mostly just a bit of hassle, only once did I feel I'd been cheated out of money, that was when I offered a part refund because the buyer said goods were not as described, and that was to save the bother of paying return postage, find out the buyer had done the damage and then having to resell, should have known he had very low feedback, lesson learned
  6. fair enough, you've gone into it with your eyes open and are prepared to put up with the hassle and slight uncertainty of getting your money back
  7. new seller? alarm bells, I've only had trouble on ebay a couple of times, both had very low feedback. That's the other thing with fat-baby, says he's a dealer, with only 10 feedback? don't thing so.
  8. if he's scamming he's got me beat, not much of a scam is if he's not getting paid and paying ebay selling fees
  9. loads of stuff, WD 40 or Jiff for me, but not nail varnish remover as one of our ex guitarist found out to his cost on his nearly brand new Gibson SG 😖
  10. I don't think anybody would make boastful claims about their musicianship, in fact their 'charm' lay in the fact that they wrote simple good songs that more or less anybody could play
  11. I suspect it boils down as to whether you like the Ramones or not, they're an easy target if you don't, "anybody can play and write their simple songs with dumb lyrics", the same argument could be made about the early rock and roll stars like Buddy Holly, and anybody can write simple songs, the trick is to write good catchy simple songs, IMO the Ramones and Dee Dee in particular, continually pulled that trick off
  12. I can't see many gigs happening until all social distancing regulations are lifted
  13. I've set it up now, no real problems, had to change my primary email address, it just surprised me that all of a sudden I had to have a business account to receive payments form bandcamp
  14. a bit of hum not a big problem, as long as you can't hear it while you're playing, at least you know they're working, our old guitarist thought his amp had packed up, very unhappy about having to use my spare TE for the gig, turns out that just the power light bulb had blown 😂
  15. anybody had to set one of these up? recently sold a couple of CD's off bandcamp, and they're asking for a business account to be set up, never had any trouble before, it's always just gone into my personnel paypal account
  16. well that's what I was wondering, either somebody has left him feedback before for that amp and the buyer has sent it back or he's found a supply of AH300 SMC GP7's, unlikely I would think, whatever happened I think you may have dodged a bullet there
  17. he's got positive feed back for a very similar amp before at £150, was that you?
  18. you can report him to ebay, they'll probably just give him a warning, but if he gets a few they'll suspend his account, that's what I was told when I reported someone for non payment of an item they'd won in an auction. Is it this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trace-Elliot-AH-300-SMC-GP7-bass-amplifier/303587304493?hash=item46af36a42d:g:3SYAAOSwE0perh~y He's only got low feedback anyway so it's probably already happened to him And what does refurbished mean a wipe over with a damp cloth?
  19. one thing I only discovered recently was to clean the tip with a wet sponge regularly, sounds odd but it works,
  20. you can see the fan at the back, either that or the cooling fins, most of the series 6's seem to be 200 watts, but with Trace Elliot you never know,
  21. I've got one of these, series 6, but where your's says model number mine got 200 watts written in it, or so it says, it's bloody loud I know that, fine amps as are all the Trace models, I've also got an SMX and the writing on the back of that is nearly ineligible, depends what pen they used at the time 😊. The weight might be a clue to wattage, mines a fairly manageable 13Kg and hasn't got a fan, but the higher wattage ones were a lot heavier with a fan,
  22. live streaming doesn't really work for me either, I'd rather just watch a video of an actual gig, we did a video for an online festival yesterday, me and the singer did 3 acoustic songs each, but by far the best bit was the whole band playing from a gig that had been filmed
  23. I tried it with a receiver/transmitter I got off ebay, with the idea of using it with in ears, no chance. https://www.reviewgeek.com/38434/why-do-bluetooth-headphones-lag-while-watching-video-or-gaming/#:~:text=In the end%2C Bluetooth headphones, while using true wireless earbuds. edit, still it only cost a few quid and it's good transmitting music from my phone to an amp
