  1. so that would explain why some Basschaters have a very high watts vs post rating? I did wonder
  2. not a massive fan, but rather enjoyed it, but I was on my 4th pint. 😁
  3. really? I didn't know that, does a sad face count as one?
  4. perhaps the he title of the thread ought to be "Who do you think are overrated/ underated artists?" Clearly someone who is successful cannot be overrated by a lot of people, by the same token, nobody is everybody's cup of tea
  5. I opted for the Boss WL-20 because I didn't want the hassle of plugging in the receiver unit power supply, no problems so far I've used it with various passive basses, and electro acoustic guitar (built in preamp) and an electric guitar, did suffer latency issues when recording with it though, top one is the click track, middle one is recording the click track with a mic, bottom one is with the Boss unit in the mic loop
  6. it's a shame Paul McCartney and Elton John don't call it a day as well, but then I've always thought Elton John was overrated and a lot Macca's output is not me cup of tea either
  7. just read right through this thread and the first post is the one I agree with most, Tom Morgan, brilliant songwriter, apparently simple songs that hit the spot, for me anyway. Overrated? tough one, I suppose it's artists you just don't understand why they're so popular, Queen, Bowie when he stopped collabarating with Mick Ronson are two that spring to mind
  8. really? I didn't know that, where did you hear that, there's no hint of it where he asses all the Ramones albums. https://nymag.com/arts/popmusic/features/johnny-ramone-grades/ Like @ClassicVibes says they got someone in to play the solos, when they did Chasing the Night on the Whistle test they just missed out the solo 😂.
  9. thanks for that, I've checked out other songs from that gig, phenomenal sound
  10. the way I understood it was Johnny was the first to jump ship after Spector made him play one chord over and over again, but according to most of the band (not Dee Dee, who was prone to exaggeration, or poor memory because of the drugs) they all played on the basic tracks except Baby I love you, then left it to Spector and Joey to finish it off, how much of their playing is left on the finished album is anybody's guess
  11. have to say Baby I love You is a long way from my favourites Ramones song, not typical at all, but perversely (a bit like Chuck Berry's My Ding a Ling) their biggest hit. I agree with you about It's Alive, my favourite ever live album and what got me into the Ramones as well. Edit, the whole concert it was recorded at is available on youtube, but maybe you already knew that
  12. what a load of cobblers, about as funny and annoying as a kick in the bollocks
  13. ignore him he's just trolling
  14. I do wonder why you even bothered looking at this thread if you don't like the Ramones, I certainly don't bother looking at threads that mention bands or players that I don't like in the title. Perhap your number of 'watts' is telling us something 😁
  15. that's the first time I've come across anybody that thinks Trace are over estimating the output of their amps, if that's what you're doing. My Trace amps, a 150 watt and a 200 watt, haven't got a fan at all, just grill type heat sink sticking out of the back
  16. play along to a click track, with say four clicks before you start playing I can't think of another way unless the drummer lays down his track first, then just slide one of the tracks until they line up
  17. they showed a lot of people, me included, you didn't have to be a great musician to write songs and be in a band, a breath of fresh air after the prog rock years, nobody stripped Rock and Roll back to it's basics like they did
  18. to be fair, it's nearer 8 when when they do a key change 😀 I read somewhere he had a really high action, probably something to do with the way he hammered away at the strings all down strokes (something I can't do), so maybe he could get it lower with a G&L?
  19. that's my experience as well, Tesco and ASDA had a one way system operating but there's no way people are going to queue up the aisles waiting for every body to make their selections, Lidl was the worst, no one way system and very little space to queue for the checkouts
  20. yes but unless 'overtaking' is banned, or shopping from both sides of the aisle which it isn't you're nowhere near 6 feet apart. 3 feet max. It's the only way I can see me catching the virus
  21. we haven't even got social distancing now, it's impossible in Supermarket aisles, I really can't see pubs being kept shut till the end of the year, large sporting and music venues maybe, especially standing ones
  22. just Fender Precision isn't it? Fender do a signature model, at a price.
  23. I see 450 deaths today, I know it's a Monday but still a low total, a 'leading expert' is casting doubt on whether the lockdown was really necessary, the world is full of people who think they know better. I know I know it's in the Mail. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8235979/UKs-coronavirus-crisis-peaked-lockdown-Expert-argues-draconian-measures-unnecessary.html Anyway, the deaths and infections look like they have levelled off and the NHS has plenty of spare capacity (how long before someone is criticising the decision to open up the Nightingale Hospital?) so a gentle easing of restrictions is on the cards on May 7th, and if that goes ok they'll be more to follow
  24. Just confirmed, for me, that Elton John and Macca should retire gracefully, McCartney in particular was awful IMO, Tom Jones was a bit dodgy as well, Jagger and the Rolling Stones were the highlight for me, enjoyed Billie Joe Armstrong and Stevie Wonder has still got it, although I'm not a fan.
