  1. always worth remembering that some people are naturally better at some things than others, I always struggle but our guitarist just listens to the CD at normal speed and can pick things up, he can't write songs though,
  2. I had a fender Rumble 500 combo, very lightweight, but had ceramic speakers
  3. as with anything, supply and demand, if folk'll pay it they'll charge it, new innovations always cost more to start with, while manufacturers are testing the water, when they're left with stock or supply out strips demand, the prices will tumble
  4. UK Subs - Born a Rocker, Die a Rocker Hawkwind - Time We Left This World Today and cremations only, Hawkwind again - Disappear In Smoke
  5. a quick google, https://dmaudio.co.uk/product/trace-elliot-1110-300w-4-x-10-bass-combo-amplifier/ this one is 43Kg
  6. if it wasn't for the Sweeney we wouldn't have had ashes to ashes 😀, off topic, they've just started showing the first episodes of the Bill on UKTV, first one you got Burnside telling his snout, "You're about as much use as a one legged man in an ar$e kicking contest" don't think you get that sort of comment today 😂
  7. I just use my laptop, plug my bass into the mic socket via an adapter ( I also use a Behringer BDI21 to even out volume issues and fatten up the bass sound, but it's not essential), headphones in the headphone socket, also use audacity to play along to tracks which I can slow down or change the key if required. As has been mentioned, blue tooth is not a good idea due to latency issues
  8. if it wasn't for pubs we wouldn't do many gigs, yes there are some bad ones ( the most trouble we had was when one of the singers ex wives showed up just after she'd found out he was cheating on her, singers eh?) , but they just makes the good ones even better
  9. so that would explain why some Basschaters have a very high watts vs post rating? I did wonder
  10. not a massive fan, but rather enjoyed it, but I was on my 4th pint. 😁
  11. really? I didn't know that, does a sad face count as one?
  12. perhaps the he title of the thread ought to be "Who do you think are overrated/ underated artists?" Clearly someone who is successful cannot be overrated by a lot of people, by the same token, nobody is everybody's cup of tea
  13. I opted for the Boss WL-20 because I didn't want the hassle of plugging in the receiver unit power supply, no problems so far I've used it with various passive basses, and electro acoustic guitar (built in preamp) and an electric guitar, did suffer latency issues when recording with it though, top one is the click track, middle one is recording the click track with a mic, bottom one is with the Boss unit in the mic loop
  14. it's a shame Paul McCartney and Elton John don't call it a day as well, but then I've always thought Elton John was overrated and a lot Macca's output is not me cup of tea either
  15. just read right through this thread and the first post is the one I agree with most, Tom Morgan, brilliant songwriter, apparently simple songs that hit the spot, for me anyway. Overrated? tough one, I suppose it's artists you just don't understand why they're so popular, Queen, Bowie when he stopped collabarating with Mick Ronson are two that spring to mind
  16. really? I didn't know that, where did you hear that, there's no hint of it where he asses all the Ramones albums. https://nymag.com/arts/popmusic/features/johnny-ramone-grades/ Like @ClassicVibes says they got someone in to play the solos, when they did Chasing the Night on the Whistle test they just missed out the solo 😂.
  17. thanks for that, I've checked out other songs from that gig, phenomenal sound
  18. the way I understood it was Johnny was the first to jump ship after Spector made him play one chord over and over again, but according to most of the band (not Dee Dee, who was prone to exaggeration, or poor memory because of the drugs) they all played on the basic tracks except Baby I love you, then left it to Spector and Joey to finish it off, how much of their playing is left on the finished album is anybody's guess
  19. have to say Baby I love You is a long way from my favourites Ramones song, not typical at all, but perversely (a bit like Chuck Berry's My Ding a Ling) their biggest hit. I agree with you about It's Alive, my favourite ever live album and what got me into the Ramones as well. Edit, the whole concert it was recorded at is available on youtube, but maybe you already knew that
  20. what a load of cobblers, about as funny and annoying as a kick in the bollocks
  21. ignore him he's just trolling
  22. I do wonder why you even bothered looking at this thread if you don't like the Ramones, I certainly don't bother looking at threads that mention bands or players that I don't like in the title. Perhap your number of 'watts' is telling us something 😁
  23. that's the first time I've come across anybody that thinks Trace are over estimating the output of their amps, if that's what you're doing. My Trace amps, a 150 watt and a 200 watt, haven't got a fan at all, just grill type heat sink sticking out of the back
