  1. well that was interesting, I just signed in with a password I changed on Basschat about 6 months ago
  2. just tried to sign in using my basschat password, says I'm using the wrong one, I'm not, I don't think
  3. Octopus's Garden was a close call, but having already ditched Yellow Submarine I decided to keep it simply because I've not heard it that often You're ok the swearing is at 2:58 so still there, incidentally it must have been in one of the early tracks they laid down because Paul's singing over it and it's in the mono and stereo versions (not sure whether they did separate recordings for them by then, they certainly did in the early days, witness the wrong words being sung on the stereo version of Please Please Me)
  4. I think you'd be hard pushed to find a flash of gold in 'Why Don't We Do It in the Road' 😀 Hey Jude is bloody annoying after 3 and half minutes, to me anyway
  5. I suppose it's down to an individual's attitude to risk, some are very risk averse, taken to extremes you'd never get in a car or on a plane, I'm a calculated risk sort of person, having said that with the talk this morning of a total lock down I'll abandon the idea
  6. I didn't think that it would be considered a good idea, but to me practice isn't just about learning new songs, we do that before we get together, it's about playing in a band. I suppose it depends on attitude to risk, if everybody was sensible and used a bit of common sense there wouldn't be a problem, when you see the rugby scrums round the bog rolls in the supermarkets or the dog walkers huddle together chatting away on the park, or the people sitting the pub garden being handed pints out of the widow as takeaways I think that's the real problem not 4 guys standing in a big room well over 2 metres apart
  7. as already mentioned Favourite: And Your Bird Can Sing Least Favourite: When I'm 64 * *subject to change on a regular basis
  8. interesting, I was only thinking today that to break the boredom maybe I should suggest a practice, we have access to a large practice room where we can easily keep 2 metres apart, take our own mics, surely the risk is minimal?
  9. an interesting one that, and one I can live with, the stereo version anyway, the mono version sounds like it's been speeded up, Ringo almost sounds like a Chipmonk 😁 I can see a new thread, name your favourite and least favourite Beatles track and you're only allowed one of each, is that a goer?
  10. but that would leave Eleanor Rigby on my phone 😀
  11. yes I'm with you on Rubber Soul and Revolver is probably my favourite album apart from the single released from it, but as I've said it's probably because I've got fed up with hearing them for that reason And Your Bird Can Sing is my favourite Beatles track
  12. funnily enough I just ordered a bigger memory card, 😊
  13. well I did advise you to look away now 😀
  14. yeah, I like the rocky stuff mainly and I don't think any of the others play on it, could be wrong, some I've just got fed up with hearing them, that's one of them
  15. that's fair enough, I'm not suggesting everybody should agree with me, just interested in other people's opinions on Beatle songs
  16. lol, yes, not one of my favourites but scraped in, it's worth it because Macca messes up the lyric at the end 😁
  17. yes, because I don't like them, now it's been pointed out to me I should have been clearer
  18. whether they too don't like all or some of these tracks, or which other ones, if any, they don't like
  19. I've just been loading the entire Beatles catalogue onto my phone, trouble is I was running out of space so I deleted the songs I don't like, got me thinking, seeing as we're stuck at home maybe fellow basschaters would like to say whether they agree or not. These are the ones I deleted. Till There Was You Yesterday Eleanor Rigby Yellow Submarine Within You Without You When I'm 64 Wild Honey Pie Martha My Dear Piggies Rocky Raccoon Why Don't We Do It In The Road I Will Julie Mother Nature's Son Honey Pie Revolution 9 Maxwell's Silver Hammer The Fool On The Hill Flying Blue Jay Way Your Mother Should know All You Need Is Love You may have noticed a lot off the White Album, I'm with George Martin on this one, it would have made a great single album, not a fan of Macca's tweeness either, I also cut Hey Jude down to 3.45, that ending is way too long
  20. a ex servicemens club near me is actually advertising in FB that the entertainment will carry on as usually this weekend and advertising the acts 😲
  21. we cancelled ours ourselves for this reason, tbh the pubs seemed grateful we'd taken the decision for them, one way to get the pubs shut down by the Government is for them to try and attract punters, I'd imagine keeping a low profile is a better plan.
  22. I'm not signing, it's by no means certain that insurers will pay out even if the Government orders closure, even if the businesses have this type of insurance, if pubs stay open and a few people go for a drink it might just be enough to keep them from going bust and keep a few folk in jobs, if it's ok for kids to go to school it's ok adults to go for a quiet pint, I'm not talking about manic Saturday nights in big cities here but the local, centre of the community, boozer that might never reopen.
  23. We've cancelled all our gigs for the next 2 months, I can't see any sensible pub carrying on with any sort of people attracting entertainment whether it be live music or a pub quiz, if they do the Government will force them to shut like in Ireland. Anyway there won't be many folk out and about anyway
  24. you do have to be careful about that sort of thing, especially if it's close, datewise, and if the venues are in direct competition with each other.
  25. we play the pub with the jar regularly, it's not that bad an idea, one of the moans on here is about 'free' music, and that gets round the problem of charging an admission, it gives the pub a buffer of having to pay out the full fee on bad nights and if it keeps music pubs going (and this pub is a long established one) it has its merits btw, the Landlady is very nice and an in house PA is definitely a bonus
