this is true, I love Trace heads but the cabs, as good as they sound are just too bloody heavy in fact @kev b gave me 4 x 10 cab because he didn't want to cart it around and when I got it I knew why, I sold it for £40 and split the money with him, felt a bit of a wimp when the guy who bought it carried it out the front door with one hand 😂

@stewblack,thought they must with those EQ settings, makes sense, you're sort of making them less severe

can't speak for combo's but I tried an Ashdown ABM 500 EVOIII head as back up for my Trace GP12 200 watt head and the Ashdown wasn't a patch on the Trace power wise (and they both weighed the same) and I prefered the Trace sound but that's personnel preference, I will say though, IMO, don't use the preshapes (on either), sucks all the mids out, sounds good on it's own but just doesn't cut through in a band situation

I find Bass on it's own is fairly boring, great in a band, but I play acoustic guitar when I want to just play and sing on my own

may be talking out of my backside but judging by the string and fret wear there must be a fair degree of string/fret interaction which surely must affect the tone.

well yes, the bass is in reasonable condition a few scratches and a ding but to be fair there was no mention of the condition in the description and only the one picture so I can't say it's not as described, but it goes to show not all suspicious sales are scams but I'd play it the same way again in similar circumstances

the bass just arrived safe and sound, how good is it? time will tell, never played a Ric so don't know how it compares. Seems a lot louder than my Precisions

as I said a few posts ago he relisted as BIN and I bought it, but surely you don't get the same protection if it's not bought through ebay?

incidentally, is it a bit dodgy selling Ric copies? I notice in the listing he didn't actually mention Rickenbacker by name

I'll let you know, if it doesn't it's a strange bass to try a scam on (left handed Shine Ric copy), more like there's something wrong with it and he's only got a feedback score of 2, so he's probably been kicked off ebay before

already replied, sorry, not happy with this, I lose ebay buyer protection, if you want to relist it with a buy it now price of £200 I'l rebid on it, I think it's £1 selling fees at the moment, if you don't want to do this, we can just forget about it, no problem. no reply yet

just bid on a bass on ebay, bit strange he said first to bid will win, not buy it now, anyway I bid and now he's cancelled the sale and asked me to pay via paypal, sounds risky to me

certainly, mids covers a big area, I would say around 100 to 400Hz, but don't cut the others either, the smiley EQ face is not good

@Skybone just beat me too it, take the very bottom end off and boost the mids, or in my case (Trace Elliot with a P) leave then flat, it may sound a bit 'boxy' on your own but fills the sound out in a band setting, I also use a Zoom B1on with the Sansamp bass driver patch

Only bass players will notice anyway, when I ask my partner about how my bass sounds she says "It's a bass they all sound the same" 😂 and in a full band situation I can sort of see her point

I had a 3 band Stingray, I found the only way to get the P sound is with a P, so I sold the Ray and bought a P, never regretted it, but each to their own

I'm the eldest by 10 years (over 60 is all I'm admitting too), our drummer is 30, and our dep guitarist 17! the important thing is we're all into the same sort of music (punk), so no it's not vital but you've all got to be liking the same genre, and your audience has as well
