  1. not a big fan of Country, in spite, or maybe because, of my ex dragging me off to line dances, (might be why she's my ex) but I'm enjoying the series, usually when I've come in from the pub after a few pints, sort of puts me in the mood for music documentaries. A while ago I started a topic about whether people actually listen to lyrics, I don't usually, but it is important in Country, let's face it a lot of the melody lines sound the same, it's some of the sublime lyrics that make it listenable
  2. collection only, wonder why it 'only' weighs 52Kg! 😣
  3. that's ok some Trace expert will no doubt put me right, is it a UK built one?
  4. wonder what year that is, looks a later model then the SMX with the Ashdown type harmonic emphasis and the valve drive
  5. I would say you're disengaging the pre shape if it's seeming to raise mid frequencies Here's what pre shapes do on a SMX preamp Pre-Shape 1:+6dB at 50Hz and 2kHz, -6dB at 400Hz. Pre-Shape 2: +5dB at 100Hz, +3dB at 3kHz and -5dB at 650Hz.
  6. same with ear plugs, when you're young you feel indestructible
  7. wheels help, but you've still got to get it into a vehicle and up steps and stairs at venues, Trace 4 x 10 combo? rather you than me.
  8. Blitzkrieg Bop, dead easy and a message of intent for a punk (mostly for pub gigs) covers band
  9. where did you see the Let It Be film?
  10. I would suggest until you have exactly the same strings on both basses they are going to sound different
  11. 51 minutes ago, PaulWarning said: it's not about viewing anybody as enemies and it's got nothing to do with gender Fake news, I never said that, how did that happen?
  12. socialising can be fun when you find out you've got something in common to chat about, hard work when you haven't, unless, like our singer, he has no problem at all, he just talks about himself 😀
  13. it's hard to stay real friends with band mates because band politics gets in the way, when you start off everybody's up for it and really pally, but the longer it goes on the more arguments happen, the Beatles, Jagger and Richards, extreme examples but you should get the idea
  14. yep' I've been gigging with my B1on for about 4 years now, no issues at all, I did try a B3 but went back to the B1on because it fits nicely into my hard case and does exactly the same job, for me anyway.
  15. just out of interest, how are you going to sell your EP, in any format, if you don't do gigs, are you going to get mainstream radio play?
  16. used the one in Nottingham 3 times, about 3 years ago, like @kev b, had problems with the door code, every time we've not been able to get into the room with code they gave, wasted 15 minutes on the phone trying to get it reset and the equipment has never been what they promised, I had to use a keyboard amp, the last time we used it I took my own amp head. But others have used it and said it's ok, so maybe we were just unlucky, it is cheap though, get discount when you first use it so get each member of the band to book it and you get multiple discounts
  17. maybe I misunderstood the post, I thought the problem was buzz when playing above the 12th fret, but if you've got buzz above the 12th fret while playing roundabout the middle of the neck then too much relief might course that
  18. I'm no expert but I wouldn't have thought neck relief has much effect above the 12 fret, I would have thought string height is the issue if all the frets are level
  19. I do that too, don't bother with insurance if I can replace items from my savings, so just buildings and car insurance for me, statistically it's got to be cheaper otherwise insurance companies would go bust
  20. funnily enough I was just thinking this morning that we might finally meet at Butlins in February, guess it's not meant to be. One of the reasons why Knock Off have been successful and my band hasn't is your willingness to slog round the originals circuit when we never fancied it, it's tough, especially if you're trying to hold down a regular job as well. All the best for the future
  21. just got a WL20 unit, very pleased with it, will be a bummer if it only lasts 2 years, I was hoping someone would have figured out how to replace the battery by the time it needs one
  22. PaulWarning

    B1on query

yep, or you can set up a bypass patch, I can't tell any difference but some might, also I don't always manage to press both pedals together so get another patch instead
  23. just watched last week's show, one thing really struck me, Jools really ought to button his jacket up to hide his big belly and high trouser waistline.
  24. OK I have to admit sometimes the lyric does matter and they do 'make' the song, and when a lyric hits the spot it can be quite emotional, but, generally they're just there to support the melody line and have a sing along chorus, except rap of course, don't like or understand rap, no melody, so the words must be important in them, I suppose
