  1. when I saw him at Rebellion a couple of years ago he was advertised as Ritchie Ramone and did almost exclusively Ramones tracks maybe that was because he was playing Rebellion can't speak for any other gigs,, he did have a good 'Johnny Ramone' on guitar, It you are talking about Somebody put something in my drink, a minor hit, he was credited with writing it, on my vinyl version at least, according to Wikipedia it was the digital sales where the dispute was, not sure on the details but the court found, reluctantly in favour of the rest of the Ramones. But yes, he was the only Ramones drummer to sing and write songs for the band. I think CJ has his own Ramones band
  2. yep, better to have a Rossi only Quo than no Quo at all (some may disagree) the Frantic Four tours were great though, it's special when all the originals get back together
  3. that's the crux of it, but in the case of, say Dr Feelgood and the alternative Sham 69 to name a couple, not sure how many folk would know it's not got any original members, in which case they should be billed as a tribute. Haven't got a problem with tributes btw, some are better than the original band 🙂
  4. I think Dr Feelgood haven't got any original members, and they weren't very good when I saw them. There's a version of Sham 69 without any original members but to confuse matters even further most of the original members are now touring as Sham 69 but they always have Pursey, Parsons, Tregunna on the posters. Bizarrely, there's 2 versions of the Glitter Band as well, or was, no idea how many were original members are in either band
  5. and Ritchie Ramone as well, saw him a couple of years ago, they're basically a Ramones tribute act, it's surprising how many bands go round with only the drummer as the original member, I saw John Coghlan's Status Quo a couple of years ago as well and I think The Vibraters only have the drummer left
  6. just watched Status Quo on the iplayer when I got back from the pub, thoroughly enjoyed it, which surprised me, only Rossi is in it from the original line up they even did a decent new song. I thought they should have packed it in when Parfitt died now I'm not so sure, as long as they're not devaluing the brand (and Quo have done a fair bit of that in their time) where's the harm?
  7. your friends used to give you a hard time after you'd unbuttoned your shirt? you've obviously got a far better body than I
  8. I've seen Jayne County (formerly Wayne County) get her? tits out during the rendition of If you don't want to fcuk me you can fcuk off
  9. Capt Sensible used to be an enthusiastic on stage stripper (used to play bass), never Dave Vanian as far as I know
  10. I'm sort of with you, being in a band can be sort of like being in a gang, all for one and one for all sort of thing, but it only works like that if you're all in agreement with number of gigs songs to play etc, very rare unfortunately
  11. We released our last album on vinyl though Media Hut, they were very helpful and patient with me as I was doing the artwork, it is very much a vanity project, sales have not been very good tbh, sold far more CD's, in spite of all the hype lots of people haven't got a turntable, some haven't got a CD player either, most people seem to use streaming these days
  12. Bass players do seem to get saddled with setting up the PA, me and the drummer do it while the singer 'networks' I don't mind too much because I can't be doing with talking crap to drunks like he does. However, Karma, he started an occasional band with his wife, and had to borrow the PA, despite having done over 300 gigs with it he hadn't got a clue, gave him and his wife a quick lesson but it didn't end well, since then I've noticed he only does gigs where the PA is provided 😁
  13. if he's anywhere a decent drummer he'll have no trouble finding another band if he wants to play more often, of course this increases the chances of conflicts, band politics eh, we're no better than that Westminster lot 😊
  14. can't help 🙂 thinking the Damned were ever so slightlyy taking the wee wee here
  15. must admit they did a cracking job, it took me a while to realise it wasn't the Beatles
  16. the way it's looking you they'll need a bass player as well, it's tough finding other people who are all singing from the same hymn sheet
  17. isn't the answer to put the cost of accomodation on top of your fee and arrange it yourself?
  18. don't have a problem with people being unavailable, our drummer likes a weekend off every month but as long as they're in the band calendar with plenty of warning it's not a problem, I try and book holidays when other band members are off but there's one week in they year where I have no choice, but it's on the calendar 9 months in advance. But it all boils down to how much people want to gig I suppose. edit, and pressure from wives and partners

  20. I'm afraid in spite of what we'd like to think there's just as many unethical people amongst bass players as there is in any walk of life, that's not to say there's a lot, but you don't need many to give everybody a bad name, same with not clearing up dog stinky poo and leaving litter lying around
  21. Finally, proof that Trace Elliot amps really do go louder
  22. just got an email from them introducing a guitarist that looked promising (we're looking for one) well what a performance, well done to anybody that gets through their registration process. I suspect they just want you to pay and not use the free service
  23. Fender recommend 2.4mm for the E string down to 2mm for the G string. I use a metal ruler and magnifying glass to measure string height, putting the ruler behind the string you're measuring helps a lot
  24. well fender recommend 2.4mm so a bit low, but it depends on your style and how much fret buzz you're prepared to put up with
  25. Well I don't think so, neck relief is in the middle of the neck so if you're fretting from, say, the 12th fret that'll be after the neck relief, hope that makes sense
