I don't think it's just joinmyband, we've been after a new guitarist for a punk covers/originals band, about 50 gigs a year, (all stated in the ad) on joinmyband , facebook ,Gumtree etc, so far we've had 4 replies, one guy got in touch 4 times to exactley the same ad in different places and then said he didn't want covers, despite the fact that's what it said in the ad, another failed to turn up to the audition twice before admitting he was too busy at work, another failed to turn up for audition, then admitted he couldn't really play well enough, hopefully the last one will work out. One of the problems we've found is decent players are already in too many bands to commit to 50 odd gigs a year

I thought he sounded pretty good on a youtube clip I saw, and I don't like his voice in Guns n Roses

Massive outdoor Festivals? don't get it

that's what I was thinking as I was writing it, I'm convinced it's one of those things you feel like you have to do so you can say you were there. -
I see this years Download turned into the usual mudbath, why do people go? massive queues, way overpriced drinks, sanitary conditions that would shame a 3rd world country, miles from the stage ( and if you do get anywhere near idiots think it's good fun to throw pints of fosters) and iffy sound depending where you're standing, and that's before the lottery with the weather. I wouldn't go to Downpour of Glastonbury if you gave me a ticket. The only reason I'd be there was if I was playing, and that's about as likely to happen as finding a sub £5 pint of watered down lager

perhaps Bill had a hand in the lyrics 😄

until you try a set you'll never know, I used to use Elixirs, and they did last about 4 times longer than the Rotosounds I was using, I play with a pick, I went onto DR neon greens (more punky everybody thought) also coated but a completely different animal, not smooth like the Elixirs

always thought that the Boomtown Rats Mary of the 4th form a bit ify

Ballsy dark tone that cuts through, how to get?
PaulWarning replied to markdavid's topic in General Discussion
if you're getting mud cut the bottom end, anything below 50Hz just muddy's the sound and is unnecessary, you need low mids to cut through, around 100Hz -
Ah, but he resists her advances, but you do wonder what sort of mind (or experience) comes up with lyrics like that
-
perhaps he was saying it because of the boring well overlong last 3 minutes, if he wasn't he should have been

once heard an interview with the producer of Brown Sugar, he said Mick insisted having the vocal low in the mix because of the risque lyrics

Bass Guitar on The Repair Shop BBC 1 now

just watched it yesterday, I agree adding the ashtrays was totally unnecessary, I once bought a P with them on, the first thing I did was take off the pickup cover, it really gets in the way, but a none player might think they looked good, and no mention of the string height afterwards, I know it's difficult to tell from the TV but it didn't look any lower after he'd done the work, nice story though -
bit more info here https://www.talkbass.com/threads/zoom-ms60-b3-para-eq-help.999053/page-2#post-15143265 After that the frequencies are set that way on this preamp : - Bass : 40Hz - Low-Mid : 800Hz (Low mids ???) - Hi-Mids : 4kHZ - Treble : 7kHz and you can select the frequencie you want as Mids (real low mids for example ). Another information : the 3 mids parameters have a smaller Q than the mids of the Amp Sims (so acts on a larger band). just been paying around with this on my B1on and in fact the frequency selection control affects the Lo Mids not the Mids as seems to be indicated

this is true, but we do like to play it in the 'right' key wherever possible
-
well it was a long time ago

an old thread I know, but the band have decided to have a go at peaches, now I've always played it in D, but it would appear that the original is in Eb (that's what it looks like J J is playing on a live video I've looked at), no open strings there then, what key do others play it in? not that it matters a lot as long as the guitarist is playing in the same one lol

like one or to of us have said it's fairly easy to get your bank details as well, if you're concerned about fraud maybe cash is king for you, me? I'd rather get paid straight into my bank account than paypal, no fees and no chance of being conned on paypal who nearly always side with the buyer, or so I'm told.
-
point taken, but this was obviously a stunt to make Clarkson look stupid, there was no chance he'd lose the money, there's no point in a fraudster using this method because they couldn't keep the money, but yes, it is possible to set up a direct debit without the account holders permission. It is easy to get direct debit payments back, I've done it when an energy company I'd left kept taking payments
-
I think they are safeguards in place to stop this happening, they would need access to your bank account, something Name, account number and sort code doesn't give them.
-
as I understand it there's no problem giving enough bank a/c info out for someone to pay money in, they can't get money out with it, it's no more than what's on a debit card or cheque

my home insurance covers me outside the house, now if they'd pay out if stuff was stolen from my car or untended at gigs is another thing, if they get a whiff of getting paid (strictly hobby use only) I suspect the claim will be thrown out, but I'm from the "I can afford to replace it so I don't bother with insurance" camp
