  1. Ours does, he's always changing something. Fundamentally, he and anybody else who changes gear regularly thinks the perfect sound is just round the corner, it never is. The number one rule about gear is, it nearly always sounds better when someone else is playing with it
  2. good buy, once you get your head round changing the settings it's just the same sounds as a B3, I've been using one for a few years now 🙂
  3. As I've said before, this is my experience with custom ear plugs, horrible feeling of detachment, gone back to generic ones, I suppose if the band had a full in ear set up it might be different but we only use them for vocals (and not then if we're using the venue's PA), I've found snug fitting in ear phones do the job as well though, having said that the singer can't get on with those, depends on your ears I suppose
  4. I've got MIA P and a Vintage V4, there's little difference between the two sound wise or playability, I make just a many mistakes whichever one I use
  5. Don't know about anybody else but I control the effect of the ear plugs by how far I have them shoved into my ears
  6. I've had tinnitus in one ear for years, I tried the ACS custom ones, but didn't find them any better than the generic 'christmas tree' ones, my tinitus has not got any worse, any earplugs are going to do the job, at a recent gig I forgot to put them in after the break, it was painful without them, they take off the top end which is handy when you've got a drummer that hits the cymbals as hard as ours does.
  7. I know what like in a bassist, and that's being able to hear all the notes and not just and indistinct low end rumble, which happens a lot
  8. because people usually decide to start recording a band they are enjoying before they know what the song is and only you and the band noticed the mistake, a thing that is even worse is when they post a terrible sounding video on youtube because their phones aren't up to it, less of a problem these days because phones are better, there's 3 awful ones of us on youtube somewhere, thankfully not many views edit, and no I'm not posting a link 😊
  9. Mine would be booming all over the place with yours, shows the value of a good EQ maybe we should start a new thread, "show us your Trace EQ setting" 😊 edit, mines not always that flat depends on the room, but I always have the 30 and 40Hz sliders right down
  10. interesting EQ settings, here's mine from last night (no presets engaged)
  11. I had the same weight issues when I had a TE combo, loved the tone but not the weight, I've solved it by getting a TE GP12 head (well 2 actually) both weigh around 14KG easy one handed lift and light weight cabs
  12. I remember Any Kershaw presenting the OGWT, that was good, about 1:50 in if you don't like the Ramones
  13. why not? Taggart carried on for years after Mark McManus died, half brother of Brian Connolly of the Sweet apparently
  14. it was last December £135 but I believe some others have had it done a bit cheaper, there's a thread somewhere, but can't remember what it was about
  15. had mine replaced in my SMX GP12 AH250 about 6 months ago
  16. Fender Rumble 500, er no, only with an extension cab, even the name is misleading, is the new 800 the same?
  17. think you're probably right, there's nothing else out there like it, maybe a change of presenter would help Jools certainly gets on my tits. I've been thinking for a while that it's been some time since anything big happened, it's either Rap or ballads these days it seems, tried watching a BBC4 program about Grime last night, they went on about the evolution of the Rap genre but it seemed pretty much the same to me apart from the words seemed even more incomprehensible and I had the subtitles switched on, but then, stuff you don't like does sound the same. I starting to sound like my Dad
  18. didn't know that, I'll investige
  19. just downloaded it for my B1on worked a treat, no problems, not that I'll be using it for altering patches much, I've got mine set up already for what I need and I don't have a lot of trouble altering the settings anyway, but it backs up what you've got which is piece of mind if my pedal goes tits up. the ToneLib forum could be useful as well
  20. the look on Chuck's face when he first hears Yoko's input at 1:19 is worth a look. Macca having Linda in Wings looks almost sensible at the side of Yoko doing vocals, what was Lennon thinking?
  21. listening to any demos on youtube is fairly pointless, it's what it sounds like in a band context that matters, assuming that's what you want it for, for instance I saw a band the other day, when the bass player was setting up his amp it sounded fine but when he played with the band the E string was booming and it disappeared into the mix on the d string
  22. although that's what she said, but what she demonstrated was don't play different open strings without damping, which is correct.
  23. Can't go along with that, may not be his best by a distance, but worst? don't think so, he wrote some real stinkers after the Beatles split
  24. Generally speaking big hits are not the best of anyone's work, high initial impact but soon get tiresome or maybe it's just that we hear them a lot
  25. I thought Forrest Gump wrote the lyrics 😲
