  1. I enjoyed it and mostly agree with all of it for beginners, but any intermediate players should have figured these tips out by now otherwise they're not intermediate
  2. this has got to be the cheapest option, I use the version with no expression pedal, exactly the same sounds as the B3, but no DI https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-B1xon-Bass-Multi-Pedal/dp/B00K5LGSDC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_sims?ie=UTF8
  3. I saw Dr Feelgood at a festival the other year, no original members they were awful the guitarist played nothing like Wilko
  4. When I decided to start playing again after a 25 year break I got in touch with 3 guys over the internet told them about my previous history and the the subject of a band name came up they suggested we use the old band name Verbal Warning even though I'm the only original member and I'm playing Bass instead of guitar. That was 13 years ago and I still get people telling me they saw the original band, nobody cares it's no where near the same band
  5. oh dear, the band I play in always do Jilted John and on occasions All The Small things
  6. bad behaviour has to get more and more outrageous to get noticed (and upset parents) the Pistols Grundy TV interview seems quite tame now
  7. of course one of the reasons Rap might be popular is precisely because it upsets so many middle aged fuddy duddy's, as did Elvis in the mid 50's
  8. sounds like my Dad when he first heard Hendrix
  9. +1, or buy one, I've got one of these, great piece of kit https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-wireless-systems/line-6-relay-g10-digital-wireless-guitar-system
  10. his hearing is probably f*cked, treble is the first thing to go, tell him to get a hearing test.
  11. something like this could be the answer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adhesive-Wheel-Balance-Weights-Strips/dp/B004UADSZA
  12. Pure Highway, its a DAB radio tuner that connects to your existing radio, been discontinued now and replaced by something more expensive but there's similar products out there https://www.amazon.co.uk/Majority-Journey-Bluetooth-Handsfree-Streaming/dp/B07DNH6YQB/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_23_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0H0K8KBX5MGKPFRDH4A5
  13. That's the trouble as a rule cars don't come with it fitted as standard I've got one of those highway things
  14. there's loads of variety on DAB stations, lots of Rock, but a surprising number of people don't know about it or don't care, and reception in cars is patchy, but on FM it's all the same sort of middle of the road modernish chart stuff, Capital, Heart etc
  15. my thoughts exactly, there's not enough good bands to go round, so people stop going to weekly music venues just to check out the band, I've seen some shockers at a local pub near to me, plus some landlords think it's ok to do things on the cheap by booking acts singing to backing tapes
  16. my MIA P with lightweight tuners has none, ever so slight neck dive on my Vintage V4, as @Misdee says it all about where the strap attaches, I think that's why Fenders have a big horn where the strap attaches to stop neck dive and it works. I've got a Yamaha acoustic which has neck dive, that attaches to the heel of the neck. Epiphone SG's have horrendous neck dive, mine was unplayable, which also attaches to the heel of the neck, why they put it there God alone knows
  17. always rather liked this
  18. unfortunately that is the only P bass that sounds like that
  19. Rock and Roll isn't dead, yet, it's just got old, when bands like the Idles have got boring old farts like us saying they're a breath of fresh air not that many youngster are going to like them and they're the ones that have the time and spare cash to spend, remember why Rock and Roll took off? because all of a sudden teenagers got money in their pockets and their parents hated it. I don't agonise about it just enjoy reliving my youth listening to old music
  20. another 'memorable' gig I just remembered, back in 1981 when we'd just started playing (I use the term loosely) we had a benefit gig for some unemployment rally, I think they were recreating the Jarrow Hunger March, anyway, our singer decided to stir things up by saying "We're glad Bobby Sands is dead" or something like that, unaware that there were some Irish Republicans in the crowd, we were quickly shown the back door as we came off stage and I can still see the drummer running up the road with all his (small) kit stuffed into the bass drum. I wasn't far behind and the singer had long gone
  21. charity gig at the Vic in Derby, last on (no, not headlining!) hardly anybody left, used borrowed backline, awful sound on stage, and the sound engineer seemed to be on a mission to take out everybody's spleen with the bass drum, about the only time I couldn't wait to get off stage, we haven't played there since
  22. like any other form of music it doesn't appeal to everyone, although it seem to be more 'marmite' than most, not for me, but I do play a bit of Jazz, when I accidentally hit an entirely inappropriate note : )
  23. once you've got a good one I think they're fairly reliable, if they're going to fail I suspect it happens straight away
  24. I think I read somewhere that cheaper units use components that have bigger tolerances
