  1. on the B3 PEQ there are two sweepable EQ's per effect so it would be possible to do 6 PEQ effects, completely over the top though, I think the law of diminishing returns kicks
  2. A Zoom B1on is a cheap way to stick your toe in the water, under £50, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-B1on-Bass-Effects-Pedal/dp/B00JLEHMG6 the same sims as its big brothers (the B3 and MS60B), trickier to adjust and a plastic case (though I've been using one at gigs for 2 years with no problems) I use the M comp with everything set in the middle, and there's all the other goodies on there as well, at the price it's unbeatable
  3. that got really boring after about 45 secs, incidentally I see he's playing drums right handed, Ringo must have taught him
  4. I've noticed this, but why would you want to take them off and put them back on again? with any regularity anyway. Don't most strings wear where they rub the frets? I've always assumed that's why new strings rattle more
  5. to be fair, when ever I've bought them through ebay they've always put the value at less than $10 so I've always been ok, this time I bought them direct to get the heavy set, still waiting for the package so I'm assuming they didn't do it this time, same firm though, bassstringsonline
  6. where from, the UK? I've seen them for that price and a bit cheaper from the USA, depends on string thickness, colour etc. but there's always the risk of customs duty, the last set cost me £30 (wanted to try a heavy set 50-110) plus £13 duty and Post Office charges, first time it's happened though
  7. this is true, but it's the same elixirs and any coated string I guess, doesn't effect the tone though, the coating keeps the finger sweat and dead skin out of the strings, which obviously isn't a problem at the pick end of things
  8. fixed, I think they're ok, IMO, you're right about them looking cool though. for punk anyway, I've been using them for about 5 years, they're about right for me, I get a lot more comments about the colour of my strings than my playing
  9. I use them, used to use elixirs, IMO they last as long but not as smooth, I pay about £30 for them (if I don't get stung by import duty) what can you get them for?
  10. couple of interesting articles, well I thought so https://howtoeq.wordpress.com/2010/10/07/q-factor-and-bandwidth-in-eq-what-it-all-means/ https://howtoeq.wordpress.com/2010/10/08/low-mids-for-bigger-bass-eq-tips-for-bass-guitar/
  11. yep it's available on the B1on, https://www.zoom-na.com/sites/default/files/products/downloads/pdfs/B3_Operation Manual.pdf
  12. no but you can stand on it while playing, and spin it round, always think that looks impressive
  13. one of the reasons I went for the G10, it has no belt sender unit, plugs into the guitar like the smoothhound, but also has rechargeable batteries (park it in the receiver and it charges up) and it's £25 cheaper https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-wireless-systems/line-6-relay-g10-digital-wireless-guitar-system edit, the only disadvantage it has is that the power supply is a USB plug so can't be powered by a conventional power supply
  14. line 6 G10, spot on budget a really really well thought out wireless system
  15. yeah I'm cack handed but that helps with a bit more room in the small space of the pubs we play in, haven't got to worry about smacking the singer with the headstock, of course if I want to I just turn round edit, I used to regularly accidently tread on my pedal, which I keep behind me, then wonder why my sound was sh*t, now I keep it under my bass stand
  16. another starting point for compressor set up is to set everything to 12 o clock, the mid way point, and take it from there
  17. surprisingly I've always enjoyed some of the Carpenters output, once saw a tribute in Tenerife, same thing, voice was spot on but she too was on the large side, wonder if it's the same woman
  18. yes someones put a different (fake) decal on it, but presumably the serial number is correct, I mean you wouldn't put a fake chinese serial number on it would you? and he clearly says in the description it's not a USA one and it's a different neck (so a bitsa bass) and at £20 starting price I really don't see the problem. edit, I suppose he could have been a bit naughty calling it a Fender neck (but Fender have made some stuff in China but CY does indicate Squier), but it's not like he's claiming the whole thing is a USA Fender, and I think he bought it this way if I'm reading the description properly
  19. I really don't see what he's done wrong, he says in the write up both were made in China
  20. when anybody asks for money upfront alarm bells ring, especially when they say "we think you're wonderful we're sure we can help you make it" well if you think we're that good take a percentage of the profits then. Reverbnation are always trying to get money out of me, don't think so
  21. been messing about with my B3 today, even with all the effects switched off (or the tuner engaged) there a noticeable difference between that and going straight into the amp, does it have a true bypass?
  22. trouble is T & C can be long and full of legal talk (deliberately? ) that I lose the will to live after a paragraph or so, I don't bother with insurance apart from the really necessary stuff like Buildings and car, figuring that it's cheaper not too, otherwise insurance companies would go bust
  23. used to get very nervous but over time it got less and less so now I don't get nervous, a bit apprehensive sometimes, but it's soon ok when I start playing, the first time I did an open mic on my own was the worst. All this performing to the public came in very handy when I delivered a very accomplished Father of the Bride speech at my daughters wedding , I've seen some poor blokes reduced to gibbering wrecks
