  1. sure I heard an interview with somebody who mixed Brown Sugar, Jagger wanted the vocal as low as possible because he was aware of the contentious lyrical content. There are hundreds of songs out there that have dodgy lyrics most people sing along without even thinking about it, I'm certainly one of those that doesn't think about lyrics I just sing them without a clue of what they're about. I've never even thought about that lyric from Substitute before this thread
  2. ahead of it's time maybe, Michael Jackson? back to the song of course his mum could've been white in which case it's an example of mixed race relationships, which is a good thing, no?
  3. yep closer than my shaby effort but I wouldn't be able to play the F after the first note and the return to the D (7th note) at this speed, not so sure Segs Jennings does either (on the version I've got) but I could change my mind tomorrow
  4. just got one you have to put uktuner in the discount/code box btw my last one is still going strong on the original battery over a year later
  5. 30 minutes to go no bids, somebody could get this for £600 seems a good price to me
  6. I find if you play the string very lightly it works better, I've just tried to order one and it won't let me log on even though I'm using the right password
  7. listened to a live version I think it's more like this, could be wrong though G |------------------------------------------------------ D |-----0-5-7-5-0----7-10-7-10-7-10---------------------- A |---------------8--------------------------------------- E |------------------------------------------------------
  8. thankfully not, I know i'm in a minority but can't stand the smell of curry and don't like spicy food
  9. and Chuck if you believe this http://www.clashmusic.com/features/10-things-you-never-knew-about-chuck-berry I guess a perversion isn't exclusive to one person edit, and if you get down to number 10 I was at that gig, front row
  10. yeah he was right old perv, didn't he have to pay out a load of compo (bribe) to victims of his camera in the ladies ruse? still love his music though
  11. the trouble I have with John Lydon I never know whether to he's being serious or just saying things to get a reaction, generally an entertaining watch though, the best I'm a Celebrity when he was in the jungle
  12. like the Sex Pistols in Huddersfield on Boxing Day? Don't believe the hype, even Sid enjoyed it apparently
  13. imo, there's a world of difference between babies a pubescent girls (not saying in any way that's ok btw)
  14. there's loads of pop/rock stars that have behaved badly towards young girls (and Boys), most got away with it GG didn't, if we didn't listen to their records it would be a long list of what we can't listen too, I can listen to his records and enjoy them (fortunately I never got into the Lost Prophets that could be tricky), in fact two of the most memorable gigs I went to were the Glitter Band (different versions) and they went down a storm when they did GG songs, people loved it, probably because you don't hear them anymore and it was a little bit naughty
  15. won't make me like or dislike their music any more or less, but I do make a point of watching programmes when the likes of Rick Wakeman or (in recent years) Noel Gallagher is in them, a little bit of self depreciation goes a long way imo
  16. but you've got a lot more watts, Mr Popular
  17. never noticed that before, but yeah live vocals, I reckon or bloody good miming which, judging by the way they're 'playing' their instruments wouldn't happen
  18. keeps Dad amused, I've suffered the same fate myself
  19. so if you live in London you can just about get away with it (but you must be severely restricting your options) provided the venue has PA and drum shells but I suspect it's a no no anywhere else, I've had a go at busking a couple of times in Nottingham, caught the bus with my acoustic guitar small Roland amp and mic and stand, not a very pleasant experience tbh (the busking or the bus ride)
  20. this, it's not just your own gear, we split the PA lights etc up between us, we all carry our share, I wouldn't entertain having a band member that hasn't got transport
  21. there's been a thread about this before, I think the consensus was being able to make a living at it, i.e. pack up your day job
  22. the perfect storm, badly behaved band that parents didn't like ( a well worn ploy), a brilliant songwriter, management who knew what they were doing and right place right time, I suspect quiet a few on here were too old to get Oasis, my kids played their records a lot and I got to like them
  23. as he says be under 30, (unless you're seasick steve) be talented, and above all be very very lucky, ( the Oasis doc on iplayer, unless they'd not blagged their way onto a Glasgow gig it might never have happened) how many hundreds of thousands of bands have there been and how many have even got to the stage where they can make a living at it? a very small percentage
  24. unlike most on here I liked Oasis (it's almost unfashionable to say that isn't it?), well the first 2 albums anyway, but I like the Beatles and Glam rock,. I'll have to give this a watch, thanks for the heads up
  25. I did try this but you have to hold down footswitch 1 for a second or 2 to go into this mode, then I had trouble with some of the effects being turned off, with the B1on it's permanently in this mode so much simpler, for what I use it for anyway, I've lent it to a friend at the moment I'll have another play when I get it back, I got it because some said the effects were better than the B1on but I didn't find this, not the ones I use anyway
