  1. bit off topic, sorry, racism to me is categorising a whole race one way, as this video shows, all whites are racist all blacks are lazy drug dealers, obviously not true if you think about it but that's what happens, great clip from the Likely Lads that sums it up for me and blacks aren't even mentioned
  2. T'was the way back in 77, fortunatley it didn't last long, but footballers still do it if the weekends sending off is anything to go by
  3. the odd gig I go too these days I stand at the back with ear plugs in, no wonder I don't enjoy them as much
  4. what you now is take about 100 photos then dump them on FB, without looking at them, for everybody else to 'enjoy' them and be envious of what a fantastic night you've had
  5. still going through, just ordered 2 more for someone else
  6. the fact that Snowflakes get upset by being called Snowflakes proves the point doesn't it? Sticks and stones and all that
  7. I'm ok with th rap/rock crossovers, Walk this Way and Fight for Your Right to Party, but I soon get bored with a repetitiveness of the vocal delivery on the Rap songs I've tried to listen too, not being a big one for lyrics (except my own lol) and a lot of the time they're not that clear anyway
  8. couldn't agree more, they need to ban flags at outdoor festivals as well, I'd be bloody annoyed after paying hundreds of £'s out for someone to be waving a great big flag in front of me. But I do wonder at the logistics of taking phones off everybody, search everyone on the way in, take their phones and then make sure they get them back again, sounds a nightmare to me, might be better to say anyone filming will be thrown out, a few examples made will soon put a stop to it
  9. loads of songs get played differently by bands live, how many times have we watched a band doing a song and thought that's not the way I play it?, hell, even bands that recorded the song play the bass line differently when they've got a different bass player in, in the then end if you play a bass line differently to the record I doubt whether anyone would know, but it is nice to get it spot on. I've been playing Babylons Burning off and on for years, not like this but nobody said anything, tbh until the John Peel version I hadn't got a clue what Segs Jennings was playing on the first part of the chorus it is inaudible on the record
  10. that's more or less the way I've settled on playing it though I do think it's a D (on the A string) not an E on the second part
  11. have to say, not just with this, that people are worried someone will be offended when nobody actually is
  12. I do wonder if it's no win no fee lawyer, compo compo easy money
  13. should I stay or should I go, supposed to be Spanish backing vocals but complete rubbish apparently
  14. so what you boring little nasty pasty Wonder what the profanity filter will do with that? edit, now I know
  15. the point is it is used again, they cut it for a while then stopped cutting it, it is a part of history (it is a true story), we learn from history not by ignoring it but by learning from it, by seeing how things were we can see how far we've come
  16. thinking about it, it's airbrushing history isn't it? the song was of it's time that's why we like old songs it reminds us of times past, and part of the charm is the lyrics might not be acceptable in today's climate, for me anyway, I always felt a bit cheated when they took the N word out of the Dambusters film (the name of Guy Gibson's dog) the last few times I've seen it it's back in
  17. sure I heard an interview with somebody who mixed Brown Sugar, Jagger wanted the vocal as low as possible because he was aware of the contentious lyrical content. There are hundreds of songs out there that have dodgy lyrics most people sing along without even thinking about it, I'm certainly one of those that doesn't think about lyrics I just sing them without a clue of what they're about. I've never even thought about that lyric from Substitute before this thread
  18. ahead of it's time maybe, Michael Jackson? back to the song of course his mum could've been white in which case it's an example of mixed race relationships, which is a good thing, no?
  19. yep closer than my shaby effort but I wouldn't be able to play the F after the first note and the return to the D (7th note) at this speed, not so sure Segs Jennings does either (on the version I've got) but I could change my mind tomorrow
  20. just got one you have to put uktuner in the discount/code box btw my last one is still going strong on the original battery over a year later
  21. 30 minutes to go no bids, somebody could get this for £600 seems a good price to me
  22. I find if you play the string very lightly it works better, I've just tried to order one and it won't let me log on even though I'm using the right password
  23. listened to a live version I think it's more like this, could be wrong though G |------------------------------------------------------ D |-----0-5-7-5-0----7-10-7-10-7-10---------------------- A |---------------8--------------------------------------- E |------------------------------------------------------
  24. thankfully not, I know i'm in a minority but can't stand the smell of curry and don't like spicy food
  25. and Chuck if you believe this http://www.clashmusic.com/features/10-things-you-never-knew-about-chuck-berry I guess a perversion isn't exclusive to one person edit, and if you get down to number 10 I was at that gig, front row
