  1. are you saying it's a genuine Fender then? and not a Squier with a Fender decal just seen the seller has no feedback, which sets alarm bells ringing in me
  2. Some sellers will courier if you ask them, I think it's paypal that's putting sellers off (does me) of course the buyer takes all the risk by using bank transfer, but the pendulum does seem to have swung to far in favour of the buyer with paypal
  3. Fake? precision, says made in Korea on the headstock https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132466934492?ul_noapp=true
  4. you see, me being old school, if you can't do it live I'm not really interested, to me it's a bit like going down the local pub and finding a singer singing along to a backing tape, it's just cheating as far as I'm concerned, loopers are the same, but I do realise I'm just an old fart from a bygone age, oh yeah, don't like rap either, or all the many genres of it, you see I quite like a melody line to hook up too, told you I was old school
  5. very clever I'm sure, not really my cup of tea, I'm more of a Rock and Roll sort of guy, I'm probably showing my complete ignorance here but you say invite him to one of our pub gigs, how would it be done it live?
  6. yep, live hard die (relatively) young, they haven't all got the constitution of Keef unfortunately, that's them all gone now, along with The Ramones, got me wondering how many other bands have none of the original line up left alive
  7. he certainly was unlucky, having to play bass in a band with Mitch Mitchell on drums, one story was they need someone to keep it simple just to hold the whole thing together
  8. I think if anybody is uncomfortable wearing headphones they've got the wrong type of headphones, personally I like in ear ones, I forget I've got them in till I walk off with them still plugged in but everybody is different, but certainly those that squeeze you head too tight are not very good
  9. I live in a detached house and always use headphones for practicing, I really don't see the problem, does it really make that much difference than practicing through an amp at low volume? and it keeps the peace
  10. isn't sampling a way of copying someone else's idea when you aren't good enough to play it yourself? I copy other people's ideas when songwriting, but at least I play them myself thereby put my on interpretation, style, on it
  11. I use a 2 x 8 and a 1 x 12, aways have the 1 x 12 on the bottom, don't really know why though
  12. I'm a fan of the Trace Elliot sound but not the weight, so I use a TE head with light weight cabs, agree with everything Discreet says, Trace watts are a lot louder the D class watts and the preshape buttons are seductive when playing on you own but in a band situation a no no, I just cut the 50 and 60Hz sliders (GP12) to get rid of boom, but I do use a bass drive sim which does take out some mid range honk and have the input on full, the red light might flash very occasionally but that's it
  13. apparently not, https://www.recode.net/2017/9/20/16339484/music-streaming-riaa-spotify-apple-music-youtube-2017-revenue-subscription sales but not as we know it
  14. this is what we bought back in 2013 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004L14X7U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 when it arrived it seemed flimsy but it has survived well over 100 gigs, it fits in our mic stand bag along with the banner
  15. just to clarify I've had the amp repaired and it's back to normal
  16. yes my thoughts exactly
  17. there does seem to be one or two on here saying original and Rock shouldn't be used in the same sentence, they do have a point
  18. £70 for parts £65 labour, the amp sounds fine, it did go downhill fast tbh, I switched it on and after a few seconds the power amp section cut out, I messed about with the speaker cables and it started working again but wasn't very powerful, finished the gig on full volume and it was distorting, on reflection I should have gone and got my backup out of the car
  19. Thanks for that, got the amp back with the 4 old mosfets, I've googled them but no luck, on reflection I think it was a fair price
  20. I see record sales enjoyed there biggest growth for 10 years, just goes to show I know bugger all
  21. Essential I'd say along with a bass drum logo, and you need a stand of some sorts, pubs don't like you gaffa taping it to their walls
  22. Music Man Stingray a Zoom B3 (much prefer the Zoom B1on) Trace Elliot combo's (love the heads, I have two, but the combo's are just too heavy and cumbersome, somebody offered me one on free loan at the weekend, I turned him down)
  23. yep, there's a lot of rubbish out there, after a couple of bad gigs most folk give up and stop going, the promoters have to share responsibility for this, they can't be bothered to do their homework and are just interested in how many mates a band can bring in, I've also found that a lot of smallish venues have a bloody awful sound (or soundmen) as well
  24. How much if you don't mind me asking, just paid £70 for 4 mofset transistors
  25. I've pondered this question myself, the main way bands 'made it' in the old days was to get a record deal with all the professional promotion that entailed, there is so little money in record sales these days that record companies are very loathed to sign bands up
