1. still not heard from anybody that's hired a dep and it's not worked out for whatever reason, have they always been a success then? because I've seen them, one dep guitarist I saw used a music stand (fair enough) but was really low in the mix, when you could hear him you knew why
 2. this has cropped up in a current thread, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/310399-should-i-cancel-gig-i-am-going-to-for-my-bands-gig/page__pid__3354119#entry3354119, I didn't want to take it off subject and it's something I've always thought wasn't a very good idea, in an originals band especially, anybody got some good and bad stories about using deps? is it worth risking your bands reputation by having a car crash gig?I'm not talking regular deps here, we used our old drummer at the weekend for instance, but as a one off
 3.
Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958 'Er Indoors and The Boy are in Seattle visiting relatives. They went out for dinner this evening and came across this - Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958. And they sent me a picture. Amazing that it still exists. Felt a bit weird seeing it really, a mixture of incredulity, a sense of musical history and an unexpectedly poignant feeling, too. Or maybe that's just the drugs.
shame he didn't stay on the bus
 4.
When Buddy Holly & The Crickets landed back in the US of A after their world tour in May '58 with cash in their pockets they decided to buy motorcycles and ride home the 350 miles . The three of them caught a cab to the nearest motorcycle dealer's shop in the right direction . The Harley Davidson dealer thought they were just time-wasting kids and threw them out , so they tried the next shop , which happened to sell British bikes . Here they were recognised and treated like royalty so they rode home though a thunderstorm on two Triumphs and an Ariel . Rock 'n Roll ! Buddy's '58 650cc Ariel Cylone was up for auction 3 years ago :- https://www.autoevol...lery-86354.html
thanks for that, hadn't heard that before I always wondered why they were riding British Bikes in a well aired film of them riding round Lubbock on motorbikes
 5.
We use an online calendar that each band member can access to avoid this type of situation. But that only works if everyone actually fills it in.... In your situation, I'd not only take the wife to the gig that you have tickets for, but I'd also be on the look out for a new band to join.
this, if someone says they're unavailable a gig shouldn't get booked, simple, on the other hand if anybody'e forgot to fill in the calendar I would expect them to do the gig, having said all that we do double check with everyone before confirming any gig
 6. the EQ on the Rumble is a bit limited but try turn the bass knob down it cuts around the 80Hz mark, just in case you haven't got it here's the what all the controls do Bass: +/- 15dB @ 80Hz Low mid: +/- 12dB @ 280Hz High mid: +/- 12dB @ 1.2kHz Treble: +/- 15dB @ 10kHz Bright: +13dB @ 10kHz Contour: +1dB @ 80Hz, -13dB @ 670Hz, +2dB @ 8kHz Vintage: dynamic compression (-9dB max) with low pass (-6dB/oct) @ 400Hz EQ chain is: Bright > Vintage > O/D > Contour > EQ
 7. yeah, bass frequencies are the ones that soak up the power, that's why we need 500 watt amps and guitarists need 50 (unfortunately not all of them understand this)
 8. all Lloyd Webber songs sound the same to me, can't stand musicals
 9.
I would imagine that most people don't have Trace Elliot stuff is because the Elf head date continues to be pushed back. Ha! However, on a serious note, I still have my old boxer 15 practice and which still works perfectly after 18 years.
I may be wrong but the Elf is going to be nothing like the old Trace stuff, can't really see the point of having a head that small, a class D with no graphic, how can it be?
 10. u block didn't work for me, having said that I've not had it for a few weeks now
 11. easy, long strap, at least below the waist and play with a pick
 12.
Indeed, far more accurate. Here's my result (Yes, I know; I'm deaf ...)... Far from the 'Under 25' that the other rubbish test gave. Jokers..!
hey congratulations I do believe you're deafer than me, I too have the fall off a cliff at 4K but goes back up for 8K
 13. find out when they are available, get it down in a band calendar, book the gigs for then, of course if they're unavailable at short notice it sounds like a massive headache to me
 14. 30 to 40 what a load of bollocks I know I'm deaf this is a far better test, mimics what audiologist use https://hearingtest.online/
 15.
I bought an 250 SMX about a month ago on BC out of curiosity, have since done 8 gigs with it and am absolutely in awe.. It's ridiculously loud, has every conceivable feature you could want, and is compact and not at all heavy. I love it. How is it SOO much louder than amps with three or four times the power? Witchcraft I imagine.
here's the answer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI6YbqrRK3g&t=188s I think sometimes they left out the anti gravity juice though
 16.
Not sure why Paul has not considered contacting Fender, given a similar thread and scenario a few weeks ago with a different Fender Amp.....has to be worth a shot, it will cost you an email/phone call!!! Oh, and the other amp was s/h too and Fender replaced it.
I've got extended warranty from Gear4music, contacted them and they said send it back but it cost £10 and I haven't got the original packaging, wanted to find out if it was worth a punt before I did that, my thinking was that Fender wouldn't replace speakers just say I had abused it, can you post a link to that thread please?
 17.
This is V3? How old is it? No problems with mine but I don't push it.....maybe I'll look to see what speakers are in it.
2014 bought it second hand, had a look at the speakers not much info apart from made in China, Eminence 16 Ohm and some numbers which don't seem to be part numbers, I don't think they're Neo's
 18. Took my Rumble in for repair suspecting a blown speaker(s) the guy told me Fender had loads of these back and had stopped using the Chinese made ones, the thing is I've got extended 5 year warranty on it but assumed Fender wouldn't replace the speakers under warranty, now I'm beginning to think it might be worth the £10 postage to send it back, anybody else had experience with dodgy Rumble speakers?
 19.
Sortof, we played on Fri in the Arena. Obviously I didn`t hear that, but the bands which I heard that had a trebly bass, rather than bassy bass (if that makes sense) sounded great. Skurvi for example, in The Pavillion on Thu were excellent, Liams bass having hi-mids and treble boosted, rather than low end, sounded great. Likewise with JJ of The Last Resort in The Empress on Sunday, again a good deal of high-end on his bass. I think that`s the trick to Rebellion as many bands did seem to have a "wampy" sound. I`ve heard a recording of us - it`s on youtube - and my bass was its usual trebly aggressive sound, and clear as anything in the mix.
I saw you do this song, the bass is more prominent in the vid than I remember live although your lot did get an above average sound for that stage, wouldn't say your sound is trebly (from the video anyway) about right really, a middy sound that cuts through, but then again I have to take out my hearing aids at gigs lol
 20.
'Bass drum' is a bloody misnomer. I like bass drums that are small and sound tight and poppy, they should 'thud' with a very quick decay rather than 'boom' in the dreadful, floppy sounding way so many do now. Live sound is often dreadful for a variety of reasons, but sadly I get the impression that a lot of sound engineers create a bad mix and then try to mask the dreadful tone by banging the volume right up until you end up with an ear-splitting mush. That's what I got when I saw Big Country at the O2 in Newcastle a couple of years ago. Deafeningly loud; a dreadful mess of booming bass and drums and piercing high end. Mike Peters' vocal mix was awful too, and he was frequently howling out of tune because the mix was so poor. Sad to see such a great band struggling with a crap mix like that. Half the time, if you didn't know the songs, you wouldn't have known what the bloody hell was going on.
couldn't agree more about the bass drum, it's almost like sometimes they're putting reverb or echo on it
At least a Bass Drum is meant to be loud. We don't have one, but the average sound guy responds by making the cajon as loud as a kick drum would have been, then cranking everything else to match it.
can't agree with you there, a bass drum isn't supposed to be louder than the rest of the drum kit, it's the fashion at the moment to have it loud, which annoys the hell out of me
 21.
Rather than moan about the crap sound on here where in general we are all in agreement, why not post something on the band's Facebook page. Be vaguely positive by saying how much you enjoyed the performance, and it was only the terrible sound that let it down. Maybe find out who the PA hire company is as well and post something similar on their social media. If enough of us start doing it then maybe we'll start to get a more balanced sound at gigs. As for Rebellion... how many years have they been holding it now? Surely the PA hire company will have sorted out by now how to deal with a room they keep coming back to year after year? Or are the organisers using different companies every year?
surely all bands have at least one person in the crowd to tell them what sort of sound they've had, but if they've not got their own sound guy you're stuffed, the bigger bands did get a better sound (either because they had their own sound man or by design, except on the first night)), but when I did hear the bass, when they were playing on there own, they all seemed to have the scooped sound, with stupidly low end on it
 22. just got back from the Rebellion Punk Festival, and the sound was very mixed (see wot I did there?) to say the least, outside stage was good but the Empress ballroom on the first couple of days was awful, all bass resonance, and mush, my mate went up to the sound guy during the Leftover Crack set to complain but the sound guy just shrugged his shoulders and pointed at the high ceiling, by Saturday someone had figured out that if you turned down the drums and turned up the guitar you got a decent sound, the other indoor stages suffered as to varying degrees as well, but there was very little bass to be heard all weekend just a low end mush any body else go and have a different opinion?
 23.
I thought I was the only one with no friends.... Can't find anybody to give you a hand??
funny how they disappear when a Trace rig appears lol, and there's no help when I'm loading up/out at home, I'll stick to my lightweight cabs thanks
 24. our singer rang Shure direct and they've agreed to send him a new mic but cancel any further guarantee, a result I suppose but they obviously don't believe he didn't dip it into a pint
 25.
I You don't need to break your back lifting the TE cabs - buy a sack barrow.
I did try that, but you've still got to lift it out of the car, and there always seems to be a step or two if not a flight of stairs at most venues and then off the sack trolley onto a stage and it's that initial bend and lift that I found the most damaging, I did try and lift properly with my legs and a straight back but it's awkward when you're bending inside the back of an estate car
