I did that to a Harley Benton one, and it worked.

One of my regrets is 25 years in the Midlands and I never did more than stand outside Robin 2 in the day time 😞

What do you want to do and accomplish at 65 plus years as opposed to when you were 21 My ambitions are much bigger! By then I want to play some festivals and big gigs, record again (not that I ever did more than demos before) and also do a lot more one off stuff with different people. What is your focus at 65 plus,writing, performance, recording , self study I love performing. What are your thoughts on gigging at 65 plus as opposed to 21. At 59 gigging is one of the few things that makes me feel 21 again. I hope that remains true at 65! What type of folks do you want to work with at 65 plus Friendly, competent musicians.

I think it's great. Through my 4 ohm/103dB GR Bass cab, it's very loud, plenty loud enough to gig with. Obviously not as beefy with the wee cab, and if you turn it up a compressor comes in rather than overdrive so not at all like my Orange Terror sound wise but the MojoMojo can correct that.

Can you tell what it is yet? I remember seeing them actually play live on TOTP once, it may have been this one, most of their appearances were without a backline. Ac<edit> I think this is concert footage... I remember them with a much smaller stage setup, it was live because they always stressed when bands were live. Motorhead on TOTP? How things have changed 😞

I nearly went for a GR Bass 1x10 which I could have had in custom Trace Green for £0 extra! But it cost nearly twice as much as the PjB. I figured they would still look good together.

56 times the power will be about four times as loud. The extra speaker area will probably make it louder again. With 56 amps some of them are likely to be out of phase with others and reduce the overall sound volume. The fact they are so spread out will also significantly reduce efficiency due to phasing effects. For example... one person shouting can be very loud. How much louder is it when you are in a concert hall with 2,000 people shouting?

To transition to frets to fretless the fretted section needs to be rebated so the fret tops are level with where the top of the fretboard was, otherwise you will have an (effectively) unplayable section at the join between fretted and unfretted. Getting this right is unlikely to be easy and could go worn if too much fretboard thickness has to go. I understand his reluctance.

At the risk of being deprecated for necro-thread resurrection, the Bass Centre was my mecca until it eventually closed. Got the hard case for my B2 there and my 'Put the Bass In' long-sleeve t-shirt, spent many a happy hour on excursions to Brum with John the guitarist doing the rounds of all the shops 🙂

Agreed, but it's hearing it when I'm singing that seems to be what puts me off rather than the actual sound.

On the other hand if the song goes I-V-VI-IV, and is about 'my baby' it's probably the other instruments that make it vaguely different...

Sixth coat of Tung oil today. Seems to be building up so I will do my first sand and slurry tomorrow. 😰 To be honest it looks great when the oil goes on but fades as it dries. Not too worried about filling the grain so will take it very gently, I want a satin finish not gloss.
