  1. My P10 has cream markers.
  2. On Saturday we used a house pa with alto tops and a single H+H sub. Our vocalist used his desk and started by equalising with white noise and a reference amp. Then he let the system ring out any feedback automatically. I asked him not to low pass my bass, he showed me the default curve which was a hpf about 40hz, a slight dip at 4-500 to make space for guitars, then flat. Positive comments from the audience, which inclded a few musos. ! few people here have commented that my bass sounded 'really deep' on what are just phone recordings.
  3. @dmccombe7 Most decent phones these days have a square sensor, but they rarely let you film square video. Most detect which way up the phone is and give landscape or portrait. In the last several months or more, Farcebook decided that 'live' video has to be prortrait so people watch it on their phone.
  4. I wish my gigs were that popular!
  5. The real question is why do phones with SQUARE sensors force you to shoot portrait when holding the phone in a comfortable orientation? Actual reason is Facebook live has stopped allowing landscape video 😞
  6. Possibly just natural;l variation, I'm guessing the colour will depend on time of harvest and the amount of sugar in the sap, as the brown comes from the maillard reaction (cooking rather than charring).
  7. Page not found!
  8. I meant in general across the evening. Flummoxed the rhytm guitarist a bit.
  9. Is it set to 'private' or 'friends only'?
  10. I try and stick to Dee Murray's original, it's my favourite 'test a bass' line 🙂 Troy's videos are excellent. Our dep drummer was running a bit fast all night and it took away some of the groove.
  11. Thanks, even deeper on this! 🙂 Especially for Daryl! Saturday Night-1.mp4
  12. Rock and Roll 🙂 Rock and Roll.mp4
  13. I have an unused tele scratchplate and possibly some useful parts (e.g. tuners), will need to check the bits box.
  14. I've found the jack on the P10 is no so much loose as lacking a good solid detent, so it can just slide out if the cable gets tugged.
  15. The gig with dep drummer went ok. Interesting using house pa but Nick used his desk to eq it out with white noise which was impressive. Often the Ex's doesn't start to fill up until 9 (the Alley being a rather sterile box with the lights on), but we had punters arriving from 8 which was a good sign. In the end it was rammed and our second set got much dancing. We used their lights plus ours so although pretty basic stuff it looked good in a Christmas Tree sort of way! Obviously a few Interesting endings etc with a dep, but aside from almost everything being a bit fast to groove well, it went really well. The band WhatsApp is buzzing after two really good gigs 😎 feels like we've caught our stride now. 20240914_204823.mp4
  16. To elucidate further, most of the fan noise on the elf is from high airflow. A quieter fan may not shift enough air for good cooling.
  17. No. They have very good fans.
  18. I found my spreadsheet and updated it. I have far too many instruments that are not basses and I haven't even started listing harmonicas, the ocarina or jaw harp.
  19. Those tops are the same as mine! A bit old school but sound good.
  20. Yes, such hardcore punk lyrics...
  21. Last night it was a long trek to Llandovery for a pib gig on the first day of the sheep festival. The singer was picking me up with the pa but due to a local incident we left late on the 1 ½ hour journey, this meant only 30 minutes to set up, but the three other guys were already sorted which meant ok but no soundcheck. It was a half-timbered pub with about an inch of clearance above my head! No pogoing! I bet @Bluewine doesn't play nearly 800 year old venues very often! Pub was full and the audience was mostly older people and our very rock setlist went down well. We even had people singing along to War Pigs! One oddity was What is and What Should Never Be, which fades out gently and was met with stunned silence, very disconcerting. Yet three people came up and said how much they appreciated it! My first three-set gig, we played from eight to 11 with two 20 minute breaks. The last set was more dancy with "those songs" Dakota and Sex on Fire. Superstition went down very well too. A fair few new songs for us, Motorcycle Emptiness didn't get dancing but virtually the whole pub was singing along. Finished with Everlong as encore. We got free drinks on arrival, at the end the bar manager fetched us another free round, paid us more than the agreed fee and asked us to come back. Lots of good feedback from punters (also one said he'd come after seeing our Facebook page). So we were pretty pleased with how it went. Tonight a normal 2-set gig, with the drummer from my other band standing in. 😁
  22. Going to upset the applecart. I am at the point of using pedals again after two years off. My compressor is a TC Electronics Forcefield - basically a Behringer in a bulletproof metal box. The need was chiefly for something that allowed me to slap (very occasionally) without having to turn down my volume and lose quieter passages. What I it was something that mysteriously adds harmonic richness without losing my lows, in a way that just playing with tone controls or pickup balance doesn't. Very odd. I use it on a very neutral setting, and it has a sort of 'better knob' effect. If I turn up the compression past 12 I have to back off the level a fair bit. It's far too good for a cheap and cheerful effect, and has effectively prevented me from investing in a Spectracomp (although I know that's a different animal). The compression built into my Joyo BadASS is great too, such a shame that's only a 50W amp 😞
