Six days after Anderton's told me they expected a batch of Orange Terror Bass heads in last monday, they still can't offer me a delivery date as actually they aren't waiting for a new shipment but just hoping the ones 'lost in the post' will turn up. So I've cancelled my order, and thanked them for trying to fulfil it, as it seems PMT's shipment arrived a week ago and I've managed to order while they claim to still have several in stock across the UK. Hopefully Saturday.

Exactly... because it has a longer anti-spam delay than most sites, I get caught out every time. It would help if it defaulted to 'and' rather than 'or' which gives too many results. This is also usual default search behaviour.

This happens every time I use the search. It offers you options, then tells you to wait before resubmitting. It's to stop spam but it's a right PITA turning a straightforward search into a minute or two of frustration if you need to do several refinements.

Not a gig, but last night's audition rapidly turned into a rehearsal. Now I've got at least three gigs with two bands lined up and more (gigs not bands) expected.

I wouldn't count those as being the same. I have two jazzes, one with mutes fitted.

I don't think you can level that criticism unless you have the OEM datasheet with the claimed MTBF and that the MTBF was unreasonably short. Unless you can demonstrate that you soak test the LEDs in your own designs for five years before speccing them, I think you are being unreasonable in your criticism.

Used the GR cab in anger for the first time today, rehearsing with a new band. As my Orange Terror hasn't arrived, I used my ancient (~1983) 150W Laney Probass. It has very complex sound shaping, I just lifted the low end very slightly and a small low-Q boost on the parametric at 400Hz. In the past, this amp has never had any particularly great praise, but today the guys couldn't stop praising the sound I was getting. Full, rich, lows, harmonics bell-like, great clarity for sounds up at the dusty end. I am expecting it to sound utterly mindblowing with the Bass Terror.

Not a gig, but had my first rehearsal with a new band (a six piece!) today. Last one was over a year ago, and before that not since the start of Covid.

I can justify all 10 of my basses as each one has a distinct features. I don't get having lots of the same bass with similar setups & sounds but can understand some folks enjoying such a collection. Having a collection of beautiful things that you can regularly use and play seems totally sound to me. Mind you I have a large collection of Floras (books about the plants of a region), some of which are little more than lists...

I don't blame them for moving to Halesowen 🙂

Digbeth? An odd place to name an amp after, I suspect their tongue was firmly in their cheek. Do they smell of stale tobacco and wee? I have a Laney humming gently to itself right here, it is very old - even the very nice people from Laney said it is an early one.

Peter Hook is one of those people Radio 4 picks up for a programme, keeps their number and rolls out at irregular intervals for half a dozen years. Regardless of their actual relevance or public profile. A good example was the fairly obscure musician 'Scanner' who they rolled out every time there was something to do with electronic music; even though he's at the 'experimental/arts' end of the spectrum he would be interviewed about dance music etc.

That's a common problem you have there. Have you cleared your mind and tried to get to the root of what might be causing the uncomfortable feeling of wanting to sell basses?

I finally made my choice, GR AT 212 Slim 27lbs, 4R, 103dB, 800W and broke my budget... 🙄

It's odd. On my first time around, my second and third bands both played nothing but originals. Both bands used to play two-sets of all own material, in ordinary pubs and get invited back. I don't think that was unusual in the early '90s.

My ideal is to be in a band who play covers to keep sharp and get gigs, but have an alter-ego writing songs and aiming to do festivals etc.

Please don't use that black, those of us using dark theme can't read it on a dark grey background.

Err... when they sound crap? 🙂 I was going to say 'when you notice they are smooth and flat' but I now have a bass strung with flats and it's OK 🙂
