  1. I'm looking at getting one or two small, light cabs for smaller/quieter gigs or where there is a full PA. Ideas range from a Trace Elliot Elf and one or two of their 2x8 cabs to and Ampeg Flip-top or an Orange Bass Terror or Little Bass Thing plus a couple of 2x10 cabs. Total budget should be less than £1K. Suggestions?
  2. I think it's important to keep such quirks, if the poor maintenance team have to play with such minutiae people will be debating things like whether or not the grade boundaries should be linear, exponential or at 'natural breaks' next.
  3. If it's not heavy enough you have the volume turned down.
  4. You need to get some tortoiseshell in there 🙂
  5. Seems to be across the board. But it wasn't a double line feed before, it was double-spacing. They have changed to a more compact layout which will use less screen space, but actually use more storage as people type in double returns for legibility. Such small changes, and even our discussing of it, are the part of the waste of energy and resources that will kill our planet.
  6. The Celinder would look better with genuine orange Basschat straplocks instead of those inferior imitations 😉
  7. I use Firefox (with a sensible ad blocker that allows 'quality' ads through) and the whole site has remained as readable as normal througout, except the text got slightly bigger, so I could reduce the default magnification. Also, Firefox remembers the magnification setting for each site I visit separately. I suspect people with issues may be blocking some or all cookies.

  9. All looks legible in Firefox here.
  10. @ped did you remember to block those b***y Groundhog gifs?
  11. Last fiver I saw with P pickups had both shells the same size, one with only four poles. But that makes the two halves of the pickup different in windings or sensitivity. My OCD would want a six-stringer with two six pole pickups. Better still, like my one fiver - sensiblejazz pickups with ten poles 😉
  12. Does the little shield on your avatar mean you are covid secure?
  13. I have been able to reduce my default magnification for the site from 130% to 120% 👍
  14. You can add people to the list. I demand we all vote for @Teebs
  15. Some threads have more than oone hidden tag...
  16. It's quick and easy to ignore all signatures, or (as I do) just ignore those of users who feel the need to tell their life story, display their entire bass collection or use their signature as a surrogate for a personal website... 🙂
  17. That's why BB code is deprecated. It allowed spammers etc. to hide URLs on images, so people would click an apparently innocent image expecting to see a larger version and instead find themselves following a hidden advertising link (or worse).
  18. Same with 'Unread content' - this may be an indexing issue?
  19. Content I posted in lists every single posting, not just the latest one in each thread. I experimented by donating £1 and didn't get supporter status... Not everyone wants to sell in the marketplace (I am unable to sell things, its generally keep, bin or give away... well usually it's buy!)
  20. Phew. I may need top read that again... Just on thought, anyone who plays fretless - try making your minor thirds a touch flat and your major thirds a touch sharp if playing alone or with just a vocalist.
  21. A strong family resemblance, but the Westone shape is more compressed top to bottom. Note how the centre section is wider than the bridge on the Vox, and the horns are longer. But same sequence of thick and thin laminations. A good way to make use of offcuts of quality wood while making the end result look up market. Snap!
  22. I was somewhat nervous, paying the huge sum of £2.50 up front for some slightly roadworn knobs. I need not have feared, said knobs appeared carefully wrapped in a jiffy bag, a bit ironic that! Andy's a true gent and I would be just as confident buying a whole bass off him.
