  1. All good, but my definition of New Wave would exclude the Jam and Killing Joke. Just shows how vague 'new wave' was at the time and how much vaguer it is now!
  2. For the record the TGI Powerbox has 1 x 18V 2 x 12V 1A 1 x 9V 1A 5 x 9V 100mA So a bit more welly than some. Includes a five-way splitter cable as well as several single ones and a polarity reversing cable. And as the silken-voiced salesman pointed out - four international adaptors for my world tour...
  3. Interesting. If I was applying enough oil to change the dimensions of my fingerboard, then I would be concerned what was going on.
  4. Well at the risk of causing further upset, lets recap and see what we appear to be facts: Oiling your fretboard can make it look and feel more pleasant. Over oiling can cause problems by softening the fretboard. Oiling varnished fretboards can cause unpleasant streaking. Then some points which are matters of opinion, but less contentious: Sellers of fretboard oil emphasise the benefits of their products to help drive sales, which may encourage over-use. Significant damage is rare and moderate use of fretboard oil doesn't seem to cause problems. Custom fingerboard oil isn't significantly different in performance or effects, but smells more pleasant. My personal opinion: More instruments are ruined through over adjustment of truss rods and clumsy customisation; no-one is going to say 'stop adjusting your truss rod' or 'don't fit new pickups'.
  5. I saw the Hamsters once and 'Snail's Pace Slim' (Barry Martin) sprayed his guitar's neck with WD40 between every song.
  6. Welcome to Basschat Fingul 🙂

  7. I think it's mahogany, painted black to look like ebony. Mid-70s Epiphone acoustic.
  8. There's a Samantha story in here somewhere... Humph?
  9. Here, I used to use fast fret on this one from early 80s up until losing the bottle 15 or so years ago...
  10. That's where I got it from. The >90% really means <100% Other components not being listed means they are both not considered hazardous and in very small quantities, in this case I believe it's limonene, probably in well <1% quantities. If the SDS was more up to date it would probably be listed. I don't like linseed oil myself as it's effectively a varnish. Raw and traditionally produced 'boiled linseed oil' should be safe, but that produced by industrial processes isn't boiled but has plasticisers and other potential nasties in it. Check out the Bartoline (made using a metal catalyst) MSDS and compare it to the Rustins one.
  11. My basses are all for playing not decoration 🙂 But I respect other people's instruments. Plus most playing at a BB is done sitting down, so much less potential for buckle rash etc.
  12. Might be a leap of faith that the Danni was actually on the backing track...
  13. That contains Polydimethylsiloxane i.e. it's a silicone polish. The last type of polish you want on any quality wood or painted item as it effectively prevents any other surface treatment/ refinishing/touching up. Even stripping to bare wood may leave contamination leading to poor refinishing. Anyone who is into caring for their car avoids silicones like the plague. You could do worse than use ordinary Mr Sheen... most furniture polish these days are silicone free, although back in the 90s silicone was the rule not the exception.
  14. Dunlop 65 is no worse than any other mineral oil: MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET Section 1 Product Name Common Name: 6554 – Formula No. 65 Ultimate Lemon Oil Intended Use: To remove grime and return luster to guitar fret boards. Section 2 - Composition and Information on Ingredients MATERIALS WT% TLV PEL CAS# White Mineral Oils >90% 5 mg/m3 5 mg/m3® 8042-47-5 Basically it's light mineral oil with a bit of scent. As snake oil is basically light mineral oil with a scent added, yes you probably can say D65 is snake oil. But note the intended use - no nourishing, hydration or protection. Its intended use is to clean (it does help remove greasy deposits/dead skin) and return luster (which is kind of like lustre, I imagine). I use sewing machine oil or D65 (because I like the smell and the bottle dispenses much smaller amounts than my sewing machine oil bottle). But I don't saturate, I just do it because it looks and feels nicer than dry wood.
  15. I think there's an unwritten rule - make sure your t-shirt is hanging out over buckles/metal jeans buttons.
  16. Might have won if they'd stuck to that mix?
  17. You can't have 'c-moon' and 'high quality' in the same sentence! It's drivel!
  18. Some might say 'honestly rated'... no transient power, music power or instantaneous power nonsense that's used to double or more the power of (say) class D amps. Plus they put out their rated power with minimal distortion unlike many cheaper amps. I can say Trace Elliot kilos are heavier, though.
  19. Allright Mama - From memory Elvis loses a bar in the last verse but the band copes 🙂
  20. That's what I suspected from the pictures. I want nickel for a project, thanks though.
  21. Cycling and DIY both set off my arthritis. gel gloves and handlebar grips help with the cycling. Fortunately, bass playing has the opposite effect and reduces my arthritis, for me at least
