I've got two gigs coming up at the weekend, Caerleon Festival, and Cubanas, a local venue that started doing Sunday gigs last year and has really taken off. But what I'm really excited about is my brother's band have sold out a gig for Saturday evening (so I can go after the festy spot) and they are setting up on Friday. The bass player can't make the soundcheck evening, so they've asked me to stand in. Even if it's only a couple of songs, it will be great fun.

I always feel Markbass amps are very transparent. Not for me but very popular.

CCR as vastly more popular now than back in the 80s. And Deep Purple have almost disappeared from cover set lists!

I assume this is something of a 'new thing'. But then I am of an age where I get invited to funerals not weddings...

No cover = free admission, right?

Question… I can understand why 4R 10" speakers are scarcer than 8R ones. But why are any 4R ones that have a decent low-frequency range or an efficiency above 90dB so scarce?

OK, supplementary question. What's the point of having several basses if you only ever play one live?

Funnily enough I was thinking about the 'mid boost/scoop remover' mod yesterday.

If You are in a prog band and play a triple-neck bass, does that mean you don't need a back up or are you three times as likely to have a failure and need three backups?

I have an Orange Terror too. It is nice to be able to fine tune your rig for different situations. Would be interested in details of the mini monza.

Could the first post be updated to include the final design measurements and specs for the drivers and crossover? I'm going cross-eyed trying to be sure I have the final spec.

Interesting. I've been wondering about a 1x10 to go with my Elf, specifically for rehearsals. The GR bass would make sense but is ££££, as would Barefaced 110 but £££. The TE Elf 1 x10 looks decent but is 8R and my experience of the 2x8 'in store' was very underwhelming. There's the Warwick 104 pro but it's almost as heavy as my AT212... So where do I get more details of the Monza? And just in case I suddenly find lots of time on my hands, is it detailed as a self build like the 1x12 designs? Doh! Just re-read and found the link.

A year ago I paid just over £40 for a TGI powerbox. Powered by an off-board wall wart, has one 18V, two 12V and multiple low and high current 9V isolated outputs and includes a 9V reverse polarity lead. Appears noiseless to me. Brilliant little bit of kit, even if it isn't from a big name.

Ok... been chatting to a fellow BC'r whose been rallying bassists in South Wales on Facebook. We plan to meet soon and discuss the practicalities of a Welsh bash.

Playing the same tune on different basses certainly adds to my pleasure.

Back at the Two Brewers on Saturday. Pub that likes it blues rock. Numbers were down with the heat and competition from Man City, but a great reception and much praise from punters although we felt we were a bit ragged. One fun bit where Alex ended radar love early just before the various runs... so I ended up doing them as a mini solo 🤣 and then the guys (thankfully) came back in.

Once at a gig I decided to experiment with detuning and retuning during a song. To my amazement I got away with it. Victor Wooten would have been proud*. *Actually he would probably have been rofling or hiding his head in his hands...
