  1. Used it at a rehearsal last night. It's a keeper 😛
  2. Have a look at prices for Westone basses on eBay Japan. They are clearly highly thought of in their home country. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124494439605?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
  3. Has he got suspenders on under his jeans then? Kinky!
  4. Finally got to use my new rig at a rehearsal. Had to turn the gain down a bit to suit the material, all tone controls more or less at 12 O'clock. Volume never went past 8 o'clock, ample power just ticking over. The band kept saying how cool it looked and awesome it sounded 🙂
  5. Being of even older vintage I can vouch that in the mid 80s a Westone was what people bought if they could not afford a Fender. The tone and build quality are comparable to US made Fender P-basses of the same era. Values are depressed by so many surviving and their distinct appearance rather than being clones. I picked up a Thunder I a couple of years ago, and it's good enough that I don't feel the need to get a Fender precision.
  6. Chiefly out of curiosity - what does it weigh?
  7. I want an Elf as a backup amp, so the temptation is to get a matching cab for practice/small gigs. I love the look of the 208, but it weighs 27lbs! That's pushing twice as much as the 1x10 at 16lbs.
  8. There's a local band who dress as clowns and do Ace of Spades in a Ska style.
  9. That's Black Watch tartan, which anyone can wear. Lydon always plays by the rules, 😉 he's an aristo after all.
  10. I had (still have!) green doc to underline my eco credentials.
  11. Still doing your best to hide behind that big violin thing...
  12. I know I'm a bit late to teh part, but if you are canvassing for opinions...
  13. I've got to dress for a publicity photo next week. I suggested wearing stripey spandex but the guitarist thought I was joking.
  14. Johnny Fingers went to Japan where he is a successful writer and producer.
  15. The Americans used to count the Red Hot Chilli Peppers as punk...
  16. But I'm 100% sure Bob Geldoff really did play the sax solo on a candelabra.
  17. One of these day I will be able to get my little combo with four 3" speakers out of the container it's stored in. A very random design, but sounds OK, especially since I pulled most of the wadding out of it!
  18. Tonic for the Troops is a firkin' masterpiece. 'nuff said.
  19. This is the beast: http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=EMILEGBP102&browsemode=category I didn't think of going to Eminence, using the proper name: https://www.eminence.com/pdf/Legend_BP102.pdf
  20. Would it make a significant difference if I dowelled the boards together so I could leave out the battens to save weight?
  21. Wait! - are these the dimensions for the easy build 10"? They were in black on dark grey and hard to read* so first time I just assumed they were more text... What are the port dimensions for the 10" version? the panels for the cab are 2x 374mmx290mm, 2 450mmx 290mm and 2 450mmx350mm (all 12mm ply) the front baffle is set back 30mm to allow for the grille so internally the cab is 350mmx450mmx236mm. the ports are made of drainpipe/downpipe which is 64mm internal diameter 160mm long *Yellow on blue is the most legible colour combination, if not the most pleasant.
  22. I don't see the cab dimensions anywhere, just that it is the same s th2 12" Easy build, but I went tro taht thread and there no easily found link to the dimensions of that either. I do wish people would edit the first post to include a download of the dimensions 🙂
  23. Ahh.... it's reappeared:
