17" Typo 🙂 The power amp is 19" wide but the combo has a chunk out of the top for ventilation and the amp is fitted in place with two screws from above and two at the back. The combo is actually a lot wider than 19" so the preamp has dummy ventilated plates fitted either side to fill the space. The alternative is mimicking the existing arrangement and making a case from ply or chipboard, but a nice rack case would look 'pro'.

You gents just don't realise how cathartic it is to be hearing that the pain threshold I experienced in trying to program my SR-18 wasn't unique! Who would have thought it could be harder to punch a rhythm into a drum machine than into a drummer.

That's my amp (left): Except it has a AH300 PSU and was wired so you couldn't have two cabs in parallel (i.e. 8 ohm only), so I added the extra mosfets, a second speaker outlet and now it achieves its potential with a 15" cab in parallel.

Nice typo there on one brochure 1048 - four 20-inch speakers - now that would be a cab and a half... Weight 680kg" 🙂

Can anyone suggest a 17" rack case that could hold a Trace Elliot preamp/poweramp out of a combo that would allow the ventilation at the top of the power amp to be clear? Or any suggestions for an alternative approach - could I stick in a 1U effects module that is only shallow front to back that doesn't need access from behind and then fit a plate at the back with ventilation slots or a fan?

My technique is pretty much up to it, it's memorising all those damn frilly bits! I've been working on The Real Me since early December and I'm only about 3/4 of the way through! Oh well, man cannot live by ZZ Top alone! <edit> I'll probably have a shot at Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City - that's my favourite Whitesnake song. Plus it's good just to be able to jam along to songs like Fool for your Loving. 🙂

Has anyone mentioned that lime wood is generally thought of as the premium timber for woodcarving and turning. It is light but strong and takes a clean cut in any direction.

I made the mistake of registering my phone, landline, and email with floodline. Every time there's an alert (which doesn't take a lot here as it comes if the local agricultural land gets flooded) I get a text, two phone calls = usually two voicemails an email and another 'new call' message on the landline handset, plus a text to tell me I have a voicemail on my mobile.

Yes, I read about a cheese maker who has dropped plans for a new UK distribution centre and 20 jobs and is going to build one in France instead. That means he only needs one set of paperwork per lorry, instead of paying for one for each individual customer order. On Any Questions today a lady who used to live in NI said she has found out she needs her two dogs to have rabies shots etc. plus paper work @ £270 per dog in order to take them to NI with her. New paperwork needed every visit and IIRC rabies shots need to be redone every year. No border in the Irish Sea? Frictionless travel? To me it really feels like NI has effectively been ceded from the UK.
