Oh Pretty Woman, Albert King. It's a Duck Dunn bassline and just a little bit unusual and for somew reason I'm finding it far trickier to get it nailed than many much more complex and quick lines. I gotta get that groove!

Units manufactured, presumably, or individual designs 🙂

Easier to find than a modest guitarist 😈

Is it possible to make the difference between the read and unread star symbols a bit more obvious:

Bass Terror lets you get an overdriven sound (switchable) controlled by the gain. LBT has a built in compressor (although no-one has fully explained its characteristics, it seems to behave as a dynamic range reducer with a variable level, effectively an alternative to a gain control?) LBT's mid-control has a sweepable frequency, Terror's mid frequency is fixed.

I've stil and the home nade onel got a 2x12 I made myself. Twin Mackenzies I was given in the early 90s. Made it the ssme size as an ancient Pheonix cab with 2x12 celedtions in. I still have them both. Lacking data on the drivers I made a port for it in 2019, and experimented with length to get the low e as loud as possible while feeding it ftom an amp and sig gen. Probably crap by all sensible measures, but i gigged the two cabs for years and the home made one on its own late 2019. -
Just got a GR212 Slim from BD. To be fair they were very clear it wasn't built for throwing in the back of a van or taking on world tour. Very impressed with how it took everything thrown at it without breaking up. Tried it with a Jazz and a GR800 set flat. The different sounds shone through, harmonics sang, bottom end was tight and rich, although dialling in bit of bass boost helped for a really dark tone. Really brought out changes in finger placement. The bass wasnt bad either I think it was an American one. Bit glossy so didnt feel as nice as mine 🙂 but well set up for a shop bass. Looking forward to taking the gr to my first full band practice since last summer, albeit with a new band.

Oh well. Ended up with AT212 Slim. 900W, 103dB, 28lbs. Sounds good to, used an amp set flat and used all jazz bass combinations and full rich set of sounds, then boosted bottom end and it handled it a breeze. -

From the website looks like they are open normally. -
This might be fixed now, as I posted something not on the last page earlier and it refreshed to my post at the end of the thread. 🤞 Tarnation! I'd prefer the aberrant behaviour, saves having to go back and find my place when making comments on a rapidly expanding thread.

Sound great until the slap, when it started to sound decidedly lame. Probably a major plus point... -

I also like my Trace combo. But if I really want that sound (and volume) I can use it with an extension cab... My temporary option for a small portable setup is my old Laney with a 2x12 guitar cab. I am reading these replies and googling... I like a vintage sound but am used to getting it by use of EQ rather than the innate sound of the setup, plus if I get an orange that will give me vintage sound from the off. But in tryouts I find I generally prefer Orange/Ampeg sounds over Markbass. I've found Rumbles better sounding than expected. I think I need to try a BF 210 and maybe a BF Super Compact. But when I look at their range the BF Compact Twin starts to feel like a one-size that does all and 40lbs is still light... TH ABM ones look light and affordable... but bulky. No love for the Portaflex 210? Starting to get weighty but efficiency wise claims to be comparable to the BF Super Twin... I need to do some A/B tests. -
I'm looking at getting one or two small, light cabs for smaller/quieter gigs or where there is a full PA. Ideas range from a Trace Elliot Elf and one or two of their 2x8 cabs to and Ampeg Flip-top or an Orange Bass Terror or Little Bass Thing plus a couple of 2x10 cabs. Total budget should be less than £1K. Suggestions?

I think it's important to keep such quirks, if the poor maintenance team have to play with such minutiae people will be debating things like whether or not the grade boundaries should be linear, exponential or at 'natural breaks' next.

It's gone darker.

What is the heaviest you comfortably listen to?
Stub Mandrel replied to ubit's topic in General Discussion
If it's not heavy enough you have the volume turned down. -
You need to get some tortoiseshell in there 🙂

Seems to be across the board. But it wasn't a double line feed before, it was double-spacing. They have changed to a more compact layout which will use less screen space, but actually use more storage as people type in double returns for legibility. Such small changes, and even our discussing of it, are the part of the waste of energy and resources that will kill our planet.
