I got one from Aliexpress for slightly more than SFA ($35), got here in about a week from China, arrived today. I thought it was for guitar so I was going to give it to my brother. But it's for bass and ultra cute so 🙂 Still haven't done anything more than watch the pretty lights and scratch my head looking at the instructions...

When will you start gigging again?

My (and a whole day's worth of patient's) Flu vaccination has been put back until 19th as the supplier failed to get the delivery to the GP last week. -
I hate 99.5% of all Christmas songs. Merry Christmas Every Body and Santa Claus is Coming to Town (by the Boss) both stand up as good time songs on their own. But I do like this as well:

Back in the 90s I always used the pre-EQ FX loop of the three (count 'em) loops on my Laney ProBass. This time round I just use them between bass and amp.

I was thinking "I hope that's one song per line..." -
Or even produce a tab version for mere mortals like me ... 🙂

Hey, this is a man whose production could make your career...

Not normally a fan of G&L, but I quite like the look of that. It would only work as an SS though 🙂 -

You clearly don't buy the idea that over-long cables lead to signal degradation 🤣 -
I love the bass sound on this. Adrian Shaw. Hawkwind sceptics, please set aside your preconceptions and give this bass tone and walking line masterclass a listen.

I found this fantastic interview with Neil Murray: http://dmme.net/interviews/nmurray.html

I'm starting to feel tempted, I think they look nicer than the real MM TBH...

I think Spondz has explained it much better than wot I did.

LOL! Very good and vocals reminded me of something I couldn't place for a bit... Haze! Obviously the accent! Now stop 🙂

If he doesn't take the money, then the likes of Spotify and Apple Music get to keep it and better placed to exploit less successful artists who just want to make a living...
-
Surely it depends on how he uses the money. Does he wait 10-20 years until he is dead and let some faceless board of trustees decide who profits, or get the money now? I can't help thinking that in his position and attitude he doesn't need any of it to sustain his lifestyle, and being American I wouldn't be remotely surprised if he uses a lot of it for philanthropy, and he probably thinks he'd rather crystallise the asset now so he can have more of a role in deciding how it gets used.

This - basically any headless bass rather than something that looks like a 1950s radiogram... 🙂

The character it gives vocals means many professional vocalists and producers prefer it over much more expensive mikes. At less than £100 they are priced more like a Squier of microphones than a Fender USA... The SM58 is competent or even good in most other roles if not exceptional, and tough, reliable and repairable, so it's a good choice as a general purpose mike that you can swap in and out without worry. That said, I won't argue that there are other mikes that are better for specific roles, like miking up acoustic instruments.

Twice that. 🙂 You can place the bridge so that when the saddles are adjusted to be as close as possible to the neck, they are exactly on scale length. Bear in mind every saddle needs to be moved further away than the theoretical scale length to achieve intonation. Ideally the lightest string should need minimal adjustment from the full forward position, just leaving enough to allow for lighter gauges and variation between string types - this will max the adjustment available for heavier strings which seem to be more variable in their needs IME. My experience is on guitars where the intonation adjustment needed is quite small. Measuring of another bass is probably a 'good idea' to be on the safe side especially with a fiver where you will need to max the available adjustment.

It's a great way to learn about getting a good finish (mine could be a bit better close up) and it gives you a genuinely nice bass at the end. I won't be getting rid of mine and I bet you keep yours too. It would be great for them to meet up at a bass bash! They might breed and we get a litter of Harley Bentlings.

Actually the goat vomit looks closer to mine... cured!

I went for daphne blue from northwest guitars. Here's some of my fumbling to give an idea of how it sounds (with fender flatwounds, I either lost or didn't get the original strings )
