  1. They connect to a shock coil. If you slap, you get zapped. 😁
  2. First Bass Owned: Hohner jazz copy ~1985, pre-arbor series. 'Go To' Bass: Flea Jazz. The one I use if I need to be in my comfort zone. 'Your bass': I don’t use it much nowadays, but the best sounding bass I have has always been my Hohner B2.
  3. I used to use my fretless for a few songs at every gig way back when. I rarely use it now, but once took it to a bluesfire gig and ended up playing a whole set using it. As Dad says, you can play most stuff perfectly well on fretless.
  4. Back in the late 80s, my first band was Drastic Action. Our vocalist/guitarist left all the lead work to the keys, except for Show Me the Way and like a Hurricane where I got to go completely off-piste. I used to play a mix of the vocal line (with flourish) and then scales based stuff over each chord untill it got silly. I recall I typically had an HM2, a Mini-Phaser, a chorus pedal and god knows what else all mashing my sound.
  5. Following. That's a great looking, tasteful instrument and no doubt it sounds and plays as well as it looks. An excellent tribute.
  6. Live Aid on bbc2, about 2 hours timeshift. I watched it on my b&w tv and recorded the best bits off the radio on my ghetto blaster.
  7. 275? Rearrange these words into a well-known phrase or saying: Off ... bite... hand.
  8. And a district of Penarth, I'm about 6' from Dingle Road right now!
  9. I still have a sticker from when owning a Trace Elliot was a dream, not a nightmare 😁
  10. Ah Pino on now. Tone very different from the usual '80s scoop. Very throaty.
  11. Just recognised Marcus Miller by his bass (Brian Ferry).
  12. It wont let me rewind to it I thnk Spandau Ballet had a ray too. Sadé was amazing.
  13. I guess it would work on a porous finish? "Try in an inconspicuous area first" as they say!
  14. I'm out at last. Mri was clear but still unsteady and probably will take a weekor two to recover. Had to bow out of three gigs with three bands this weekend but they have all been great about it. Gutted as was really looking forward to it
  15. Hi, I have but it's fitted to my B2. I assume you mean the round 'cap' with a hole that fits in the hole in the body. I think it makes a standard jack not a barrel jack but I may have changed the jack on mine. From memory you might be able to use a telecaster one?
  16. My plan to join the "decomposition" competition would have seen me do some 6 string, but my plans for this month are out the window. Everytime I see guitarchat I wonder if the reason it doesn't fly reflects a difference between bassists and guitarists?
  17. More to his sound than just the bass. Octaver certainly and a bit of chorus. It may evoke an era, primarily the association with Wherever I... but I don't think that sound dates. Mind youn Pino can sound like that on a fretted bass.
  18. Ouch! At least it was a (relatively) cheap, consumable part that failed
  19. I have two and think they sound very similar!
  20. Good thought, I suppose after 41 years of this I'm starting to get somewhere...
