You just need a heavy twin core cable with suitable sized spade connectors at each end. Find a local repair shop. Or solder it yourself, a cheap soldering iron will cost less than getting someone to do the job. Hot contact (tip) of jack to speaker + terminal is usual. Plenty of good soldering tutorials on line.

It could well be that the bias voltage for the power transistors hasn't been changed and they may be running a high quiescent current. I had a similar issue with one of the pre-power stage transistors drifting out of spec with the result that the cones were displaced by the DC offset and the amp ran hot. If the transistors are hot but the heatsink is only warm, could be the thermal compound wasn't replaced when transistors were changed. All should be easy for a competent electronic repair shop to fix, or at least provide reassurance.

I got one as a backup, tested it at my last two rehearsals. It sounds good and is loud enough to be used as my main amp, but my Bass Terror has the edge sound-wise. Should confess I found the Elf 1x10 a bit bass-light when I tried one out with the Elf. But I did a/b it with a 15" Ampeg cab...

The quality of many covers bands shows that plenty of 'ordinary people' can play 'hit tunes'.

Over 30 years ago I bought along length of orange two-core 13A cable and made up a set of jack-to-jack speaker leads. Never any issues, although I have upgraded to heavy-duty metal bodies jacks (which I then realised could cause a short more easily, so I shrouded them with heat-shrink tubing). Not easy to confuse with guitar leads (as long as I don't buy orange ones). Bass Terror has speakon-only, new cab has Neutrik combined sockets. Speakon-speakon is fine (actually really good). Elf has jack socket, bought a Stagg speakon-jack cable at PMT and the jack is about 1.5mm short. It works but the first time I used it in anger it vibrated out of the socket, scaring the crap out of me - I relocated the amp to the floor. So new jack-speakon required, or maybe use one of my old, orange mains leads!

Actually only one of these needed, but I have two Slazenger ones as well.

When I tried out the cab at BD I used the GR800 with all the EQ dead flat, got a lovely range of tones from a USA Jazz. Also used it with sub bass up a bit just to 'prove' the bass handling.

I wanted a backup, and had to settle for a Phil Jones C2 as it's just about the only thing that's smaller and lighter! Like a fule I ordered a red one and it's nearly three months' wait.

Yes, someone ressurected it... but the question is stll interesting as another 12 years has changed the perspective and I think Westone/Matsumokos basses from the 80s are being more appreciated.

Used it again tonight with an ancient Westone Thunder, and got massive praise for the sound.

I haven't had a BF speaker so I can't offer a comparison. A low B on the AT212 sounds a bit 'flabby' to me, it doesn't break up but almost sounds like a rapid series of pulses, I wodner is this is because it's close to its resonant frequency? That aside, I keep getting plaudits about the sound from the cab. I've used it with a 35+ year old Laney head, a Bass terror and an Elf and every time I get compliments about how good it sounds. It's also scary loud, you don't need to turn amps up a lot with it.

Over the last four rehearsals with the covers band I've taken along a Fender Flea Jazz, Fender Performer, Squier Jaguar SS and tonight my lowly Westone Thunder. The guitarist came up to me at the end and said "that's a fantastic bass, that's by far the best tone you've had".

Why not add it on to the existing 'donate £10'? My main worry is that marketplace membership would encourage me to sell things...

Most typical MP3 compression used for the web has a 'brick wall' rolloff at 16Khz, and this almost certainly applies to YouTube videos.

There doesn't seem to be a way of becoming a supporting member without the marketplace. There should be a way to be supporting member without the full whack for the marketplace, although I may want to shift some kit down the line...

I'll resurrect this thread rather than start a new one. I got an Elf as a backup amp, but thought I would test it at a rehearsal. We play at pretty much gig volumes. I used it though a GR bass AT212 slim. I had to turn it down a bit, ended up about 2 o'clock gain, 9 o'clock master volume. All tone knobs about 1 o'clock Turned up to 3 o'clock it was very loud, enough for any gig I've done, louder and it started to distort unpleasantly. Definitely much louder than my Laney 150W, but not as loud as the Bass Terror. Very happy with it, but the cheap Stagg jack to speakon lead turns out to have a jack plug 2mm too short that vibrated out of the socket if the amp was on the speaker.
