  1. Meatloaf.
  2. Violin, I can't bear the sound I make.
  3. You... You... Michael Buble fans!
  4. Oh, everyone listens to Radio 4 🙂
  5. There is a time in every man's life, a couple of decades after he has put Radio 1 aside, when he has to make a big decision that will set the pattern of his life thereafter. Planet Rock or Radio 2?
  6. Received, thanks 🙂
  7. I found it online but the scags want to access all my contacts! Turns out Academia.edu may be a bit of a dodgy operation.
  8. Good to hear from you, Blue. Stay safe.
  9. Must remember that excuse...
  10. I love the audience awkwardly trying to move to something which, whatever it is, is certainly not 4/4... P.S. thanks for introducing me to that 🙂
  11. You don't listen to Planet Rock very often then 🙂
  12. I've tried one or two. Main thing is they are fun to play.
  13. Eric Idle on guitar? OK it's Bernie Marsden, but he sure looks like Eric there!
  14. I like to be able to get some clank a la Entwhistle, but don't like buzz. It's very, very personal. even down to where you play.
  15. I think on all the Lemmy-era albums it's his basslines that provide the fundamental melody line for the stand out songs; the keys are often sound effects and the guitars mostly go between powerchord chug and psychedelic noodling.
  16. This is taken from the long-lamented Starfarer.net website, now only available on the web archive. It's rather short on details but at least it give some structure to get started. I commend High Rise (Adrian Shaw on bass). Hawkwind Bass Tab.docx
  17. I forgot just how utterly, incredibly f***g awesome this was:
  18. Not strictly true, particularly after Lemmy. Some of them have complex walking lines that are made up of several repeated figures, others have signature riffs that are the basis for improvisation. But learning parts of even the most .mprovisational ones can teach you an awful lot. Plus you could also say the same about the Faces, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin and the Who and there's no shortage of transcriptions of their basslines.
  19. This Maya has a blockwood body, but it doesn't look too bad where the lacquer has chipped away.
  20. Brilliant bassline. Check out Troy's cover on YouTube, helped me learn it.
  21. Did this ever get transcribed? The lack of Hawkwind bass tabs out there is alarming.
  22. I suspect my 2.8Mbps connection wouldn't be up to it, especially if anyone else in this lockdown zone wants to go online...
  23. Sounds like a long wait?
