In '66 Bigsby sold the company to the ex-president of Gibson. In '99 it was sold to Gretsch. Fender bought Bigsby in '19. So... Fender won't worry about the headstock design, but perhaps Gibson my be shaping up for a battle with the big boys if they decide to make a big fuss around the 'LP' shape...

Our drummer takes the fosters out of me for always turn up to practice with a different bass (OK I rotate through five, but I like the way each feels and sounds different). I still haven't had the guts to turn up with my 5-string.

I bought the Thunder 1 Stew sold. Used in in anger (rehearsal) for the first time this week, it sounds more precision than a precision does - as in that cliche rumble when you hit the e-string, like a touch of distortion even when you are playing quietly. Gratuitous picture, just to make Stew wish he hadn't sold it... It does appear to have the control cavity stuffed with neutron star matter, so no neck dive issues then... I'd forgotten but my brother* had a 1A he converted (tastefullyish) into a lefty so it looked like an SG. Also i hadn't realised his current bass is a Westone Spectrum DX, the top of the range and a proper lefty. *the ukelele/bassy one, not the guitary one.

I'm a sucker for a bargain. My brother gave me my B2 (in all fairness, I later gave him my Hohner Jazz because my Performer does everything it did, better). My performer was abandoned in a corner of the practice room my band used to borrow, so crusted in gunk I got sold it dirt cheap (turns out iot was only about five or six years old, it looked nearer 25 but was mint under the crap). My Jack V was ridiculously cheap s/h. As in absurdly cheap. My Jaguar SS felt so good after trying out a horrible Wal and the guy knocked 10% off (so I spent eh money I saved on a mandolin strap...) Then Stew did one of his dutch auctions on the Thunder 1. Now his bloody Explorer is preying on my mind night and day...

It supposed to be like in the original post, although some nuts are the same height right across so the smaller strings appear to sit deeper in the slots.
