  1. I have to learn 'This One Kiss' 🤢🤮
  2. I fear a quieter fan may be is because it doesn't shift enough air.
  3. I recently heard O'Neills are cancelling loads of gigs
  4. Our vocalist has a reference mic he uses with the digital desk. We have to stay schtumm while the system puts out white noise on each and then both channels and automatically adjusts the system to match the room acoustics. I am instinctively sceptical but it does seem to get good results.
  5. Fairport Convention have got through about 25 members and although Simon Nichol was in the original lineup, he was absent or many years. No one seems to get exercised about this.
  6. My dad rented out TVs in the 70s, and that was what most people wanted back then. Perhsps because real life was monochrome...
  7. I don't think that works for rock. Ten Years After parted ways Alvin Lee. While he was a charismatic front man, all three others were exceptional musicians. Queen are finally looking at recording new music, and kept going without Freddy - the most charismatic front man of all.
  8. I use it as my practice rig with a 50W Joyo Badass. Sounds great, just not loud.
  9. Not bought much this year, all good: Sire P10. Gokka orange-coloured pedal board. Demonfx Pearl White autowah (Snow White clone). So only two pics needed!
  10. Took my Elf and PJB C2 to the bass bash. It can just keep up with an unamplified drummer at rehearsal, but not a bass bash...
  11. I was going to bring my innovative new Fender, but then I realised it was a reissue of a 60+-year-old model.
  12. I said Antigua counted as an innovation (first turdburst guitars).
  13. Thank you. It almost had a Pentangle feel.
  14. Thomann's specs are more honest than most (they even state the '600W cabs' are 15W RMS). That said, I suspect the perfomance figures are largely 'theoretical'.
  15. And a Bluesfire gig too!
  16. We've made our next batch of gigs into a Tour of South Wales!
  17. TL:DR - I fixed up some speakers. I have two cheap Thomann Fun Generation powered 15s and a pair of Passive 12s as extensions. I've realised that a powered 15 and a powered 12 would give me more flexibility (you can work out the combos, but being able to use 2x12s as monitors while still being able to run a 12 and a 15 each side as a small PA appeals). Using a Powered 15 and a passive 12 as monitors was clumsy, the 15 is noticeably more bulky. Luckily the rear panels have identical dimensions, so it's simply a case of swapping them over and switching the spade connections to the 12 and hard-wiring the 15. ON opening up a powered 15, I noticed that the board doesn't have the built-in crossover, instead using a separate crossover like the 12, connected from the L (low) terminals. I noticed that as expected there was a red wire from + on the speaker and a black from -, but they were connected to L- and L+ instead. I was going to reverse them... until I noticed the wires to the speakon connector from the power amp were also reversed... I did a phase check against (correctly wired) extension speakers and lo and behold, it appears the power amp board is incorrectly marked. Incidentally, despite the 15 being rated at 115db and 70-18,000 Hz and the 12 114dB and 80-18,000Hz, the spate of A/B testing that this exercise brought on showed that the 15s have vastly more bottom end to my ears.
  18. Disappointed...
  19. Support gigs are a bit different to open mics/jam nights, which is what I was meaning.
  20. Maybe, but it is an obvious way to differentiate an Epiphone from the original and relatively costly to implement?
  21. I do get irritated by those who turn up and agitate to get on early then disappear as soon as they have played.
  22. Saw them (the Andy Powell one I assume) last year at Northern Kin. It was something of a surprise to find myself watching the whole of Argus performed live, I really enjoyed it.
  23. This thread is making me very frustrated with the gig equivalent of 'Stoptober' 😞
  24. As a drummer, mMy amazing and totally infallible idea is a bass with a quick release neck that can be broken down for storage and transport. I mention this to bassists every time I help them carry their kit but they just look at me like I'm a total moron. 😁
