Is there anything special about 'jetglo' or is it just marketingspeak for 'black'?

I don't think you can criticise the band for being commodified in that way after the fact. Their impact was huge and at the time I felt they had saved music from dissolving into a mush of mediocrity.

No, Ashley Hutchings is Fairport, Albion Band, Steeleye Span etc. Pretty much set the mould for traditional UK folk-rock bass if Dave Pegg set that for bass as a melodic instrument in folk rock.

He uses a lot of odd timings and syncopation in his songs. Monkey Wrench is tricky.

I like many of Krist Novoselic's basslines, even simple ones tend not to be cliched. We do In Bloom and that's fun to play and challenging to get teh right feel, you need to be 100% locked in with the drummer.

I've successfully taken part in meetings using zoom messenger, google hangouts and microsoft teams. My video out is rather poor, but everything else works. Skype refuses to recognise my camera. Some of these have participant limits but hangouts has raised the limit from 10 in the last week, not sure if it will now be enough but it is one of the easiest to use. Teams won't work with Firefox but I use the app or I could use <spit> Edge.

For me, an Ashdown bass should reflect the 30s styling of their logo, perhaps a stainless steel body resembling the Chrysler building...

Doesn't that prove the case, the Ashown that isn't essentially a clone is visually the most interesting?

Amazing that they are still going, yet it wouldn't surprise me if they went on tour supporting Europe these days...

It's possible to take plenty of classic design hints and still come up with something that looks new and awesome, while having enough familiarity not to offend. I think this looks far better than many 'boutique' basses:

Yes... but isn't that the point of a union? During a major dispute the union staff are doing more to earn their pay than at any other time, and surely unions need to lead the way in terms of fair pay and conditions? It's not like union members can't change the rules if they want to. I'll leave that there as its veering close to politics.

The only album I ever took back and ganged was by Willie Nelson. I bought it by mistake after hearing (Bill) Nelson's Red Noise as a schoolboy.

As a child I found wearing corduroy as some form of cruel and unusual punishment. I'm pretty sure I have some sort of high sensitivity to touch. Manifested as a deep dislike of some textures and feeling certain sensations for an extended period. Aside from being a bit weird when you touch something and can still feel it for a while (generally until I get distracted) it can have its benefits as pleasant touch sensations can last as well.

No, power = V^2/R. R halves but V stays the same so power doubles. Or looking at current, Power = I^2 * R, current increases by 2 but resistance halves so 2^2 x 0.5 = 2, power doubles. The other half of the volume increase comes because you've doubled the area of the speakers. This is why a 4x10 can be louder than a 1x15, all other things being equal (they never are!) and a 2x12 is twice as loud as a 1x12 for the same power (assuming again that everything else stays the same).

But how do you define 'talent'? To some, it's who can play the most notes in a second, to others it's creating catchy, memorable songs. Well for the people who get upset, it's down to how they choose to define talent... But seems he DID find way to play it on two strings 🙂

I've pretty much got it now, at least the chorus, main riff and the first bass solo. Not quite ready to start the mountain of the second solo, but I play it every day and can pretty much do it right on the second attempt! Ha! Tried just now and I actually played it too fast 🤣

Some people get upset when those they feel have less talent but greater success than themselves get praised.
