Not a gig, but in tbe same vein? I just spent 45 minutes being interviewed on the ups and downs of being in local bands on Radio Cardiff by Ceri Stennett. Made it very easy for me, just a bunch of gentle anecdotes and he even played a couple of tracks with me on. I finally make the radio and one of the songs was a Carl Perkins number 🤣 His dad Stan was a local legend and was even a regular on Coronation Street!

Only if he has other instruments than basses - he may need to buy an electric guitar to stay in 😈

Was: From the ashes of disaster...now various projects

Thrust bearings should do the job. Back in the 80s I just added thrust washers and a drop of mineral oil to the tuners on my Hohner headless and they still work. -
Exactly the point, the video shoots themselves squarely in the foot n that score.

Looking back, the irony of this video is that, taken literally, it would be the death-knell for Epiphone as the 'inauthentic' version of Gibson. In fact, it marked a rapid turnaround with Epiphone stepping up to become a desirable brand delivering quality instruments as people just couldn't afford Gibson.

Maybe think about a duo with someone that can pick up smaller gigs at short notice to fill the gaps?

So far only pa gear - pair of 12" pa extension cabs and some drum mike clips. Making a new grill for a practice amp and plan a couple of pedals... but all from buts already 'in stock' so they don't count as just rearranging existing stuff.

That's shocking for a company whose aim seems to be supplying hr services...

The are glad I reached out and customer care will be in touch. Preparing to put my head in between and go blubble, blubble, blubble.

I'm currently minding a four-string acoustic guitar my brother wants me to buy.

Looks like a clawed toad (xenopus)

My guess is some pubs use it to employ staff and somehow expect it to work for hiring bands - I can't see (or find out) how this works.

neither do i!

Exactly, that tells me absolutely nothing about how it works for band bookings, and it's entirely focused on the employer and there's no information relevant to booking an entity rather than employing an individual.

Having hell of a job finding clear information on what C247 is. There are zillions of sites that claim to be c247.whatever. These seem to includes finance, mobile phone, recruitment and security companies. I am not going to fill in a registration form with sensitive details untilI know who and what I'm signing up for. Is it an entertainment agency or some sort of employment agencyvthat also deals with with bouncers and pizza deliverers? Google is 'not' my friend in this case, this search seems to return no useful info, for example. Do C247 have a proper website? https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+c247+registered&newwindow=1&client=firefox-b-m&sca_esv=a921428cb73996e2&sxsrf=ACQVn0-K-iTD0yBmQfRXkWz0vq2qdr567g:1711448339517&ei=E6ECZuGfH5-shbIPusCXqAg&start=20&sa=N

At the moment I am just using the fiver for the 'classic rock' band. I have some control over the order of the setlist so can group together songs benefiting from the extra range..

Snapped string after swapping: what did I do wrong?
Stub Mandrel replied to chyc's topic in General Discussion
If you really need to clean the fingerboard and the strings don't need replacing you can just loosen the strings off a bit. Will admit, I used to take strings off and boil them up with a bit of Persil back in the 1980s when I was a bit skint. -
Five strings really are mainstream now! Flicking through the 'latest' activity I counted eight fivers, a four string and a double bass in the first ten istruments up for sale. I was going to mention I have two, but realused I have three. Personally I prefer four strings, but five seems to be the magic number where you can still play with a substantially normal tecnique and benefit from the extra range, especially when combined with 24 frets. Six and seven just start to impose impossible stretches if you want to keep your thumb behind the neck. Of course, my snapshot statistic could mean that everyone is trying to get rid of their fivers...

A Few Questions to all Short-Scale Bassists.
Stub Mandrel replied to thebrig's topic in Bass Guitars
I have two shorties with no issues and can't remember having any problems with a mustang either. I have a small bodied long scale five string that ought to be a diver, I just fitted a neoprene strap and have never had a problem. That said, I have 17 very varied basses and can't think of any neck dive issues, so maybe my technique avoids it or I am instictively tolerant of neck dive. -

1 - 30 seconds. 2 - I find short scales tend not to neck dive. -
Not really a gig, but went to an acoustic open mic tonight. Got up and added acoustic bass for the last half hour or so, utterly random and great fun.

The Bluesfire gig at the Doll's House was last night. Long dark, wet drive up into the valleys. Good load in but virtually no parking, but the residents completely ignore the double yellows and we were told "you'll be ok as long as you leave room for a bus". We were a bit worried at first but it filled up a bit (although not rammed), perhaps as it was a miserable dreich night. But the audience made up for numbers with enthusiasm. The juke box made it clear our music was bang on target for the pub and it was great to get cheering not just applause! Got some positive comments all round too, which was nice 😁 Got away well after 12, for a long, dark wet drive. I found an open macdonalds when nearly back so didn't get home until after half one.

Seems the TC k212 is no longer available despite being on their website.

If cash is an issue try TCelectronic Their 2x10 an 2x12 seem to perform well wherever I've seen them used.
