Anyone got a spare Riverhead banging about?

Listened to my Sabbath live at Hammersmith in the car. I in awe that I was there for a gig like that. Sabbath with Vinnie Appice coul kick the butt of any other band and Dio's voice is unmatchable.

LOL! The top one looks like it has 8 strings too... wonder why not 8 on top? I would play the 4-stringer more.

Same pickups, number of strings, frets... I have to ask, what's the point? Backup if a string breaks? Alternative to having a D-tuner or 5-string?

Well, I say this is the most lovely bass on Basschat, anyone who disagrees is sadly deluded. 🙂

In the seventies I had the idea of a pickup split into six single coils to allow each string to generate a separate signal for extreme distortion without intermodulation.

OK, but it comes in different strengths. The 10% should be OK but if someone reads this and buys high strength brick acid because they think it will work better, it is very nasty.

Google 'muriatic acid'... it's another name for hydrochloric acid. Plus if it's taking off chrome, the solution will then contain dissolved chrome and that's nasty too. Seriously, don't make the mistake of thinking brick cleaner isn't 'anything that strong' - with battery acid (sulphuric acid) and caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) its one of the three most nasty readily available chemicals on the shelves. Please be careful, it really is nasty.

The problem with bands is they usually only have one bass player... Hmm, should we have impromptu mass-bass jams at Bass Bashes?

I think this is a real shame. Our drummer only has three kits and refuses to buy my daughter's Hohner kit 😞 My brother's drummer has something like six in storage, I think one of them is ex Cozy Powell or someone of that kind of status that so there are collectors of these things...

+1 I find even fairly small differences in feel and tone make me play differently and inspire me to play in different ways.
