  1. The best invention for musicians, ever!
  2. Ah. That's 👍
  3. What's up
  4. I would but the tiny distance between inaudible and rehearsal volume on my amp makes it so hard to set a sensible volume.

  6. You need to play to a standard to join a band. Generally, staying in a band is about building relationships and a team spirit. Bendricks Rock seems particularly healthy as we share a warped sense of humour (how many bands have a tagline like "Keep It Moist".
  7. Rics, Alembic (with point on the end), Gus, some Vox models, G&L with a pip on the headstock, white bongo. Just personal prejudice and otherwise as meaningless as dismissing all Precisions.
  8. At thevtime I felt that the new romantics had the best shirts.
  9. Actually some good news ... the guitarist from the blues band has picked up a gig on the 23 Jan. Good news - 7pm to 9pm Bad news - Womanby Street Cardiff. Worst parking in the city.
  10. God that's awful 😞
  11. Just found a photo from our guitarist's other band's last gig... Capital Radio's firework night. I'm not jealous...
  12. Without making any judgements, someone who is in a musical couple might not give an entirely unbiased view of how well it works? 😁 <ducks>
  13. Of all the basses I've encountered probably the most bass for the money, even including Harley Bentons. A future classic.
  14. Fear not. Black is just a gateway to tort, you'll get there in the end.
  15. Until relatively recently, the mist I had paid for a bass was under £300. I have 18 basses, only four of them cost more than £300. The best one cost me £80. But I love the way they are all different so I play each one differently.
  16. You're wrong about that 😉
  17. Yes that's correct. They have a particularly sneaky way around here ... box junctions on roundabouts under a flyover so you can't be sure some exits are clear in time to stop before you enter unless you approach at a speed that gets you hassled by following vehicles.
  18. Volunteer for the role of Bassfinder General? The most feared GAS Detector in Christendom (and beyond!) That's a big ask!
  19. Therexs an increasing body of research to show they do work. Example: https://www.bath.ac.uk/announcements/low-emission-zones-improve-air-quality-health-and-peoples-well-being-new-ipr-policy-brief/ Incidentally, back in the bad old days of leaded petrol you could map the inverse correlation between schoolchildren's IQ and distance from the motorways through Birmingham. The wind may blow at times, it's the days with a temperature inversion over the city that cause most harm. The ULEZ is just a logical extension of decades of pollution reduction in cities and towns. Of course, this has no relation to imperfect implementation of sensible legislation, but 'I was caught by a misunderstanding' doesn't invalidate the concept.
  20. (if your exit isn't clear due to stationary vehicles Unless you are turning right. Simples, eh?
  21. I once got sacked for being too 'widdly' and was replaced by the rhythm guitarist playing root notes. So no-one should think their level of technical ability makes them irreplaceable. But if you can get on with people, pull your weight and have the ability to pull a song back together if things go pear-shaped you will probably last. Ideally, if you can achieve a real musical rapport with the other musicians- when you are playing off each other and anticipating where they will go before they do it - then you should be securem
  22. Bass related... I got a luthier's neck support block and a 'soldier' leather strap. I gave two demonfx pedals (tape echo and mini chorus) and to my other brother one of those mini multi-effects/emulator pedals.
