Hi all Price Update 11/06/23 - Reduced to £1000 - won't be going cheaper! *Would consider trade + cash against a DB751 More of the herd goes to the cull because it's just not getting played! This time, it's my 2004 USA Fender Artist Series Jaco Fretless. Bought from Andy Baxter when he was still in London but it needed a lot of love! Replaced the pickups with std Lindy Fralins. Replaced the tuners with Hipshot Lightweight Tuners because of the huge neck dive! Had the fingerboard refinished and flattened by Martin Petersen at The Bass Gallery in London because it had a huge ramp at the body end of the neck (a std Fender trait!). At the same time I had Martin put MoP dots in the std position because the clay dots on the fret lines are impossible to see on a dark stage! Also had the bridge replaced with a hi-mass fender bridge. All set up by Martin. In the interests of full disclosure, it could do with a new nut. A previous owner cut the nut very low so the G string is very close to the fingerboard at the nut end. Not a problem for me as I play with a light touch (hence not getting Martin to sort that too) but a heavier handed player might find it too low. The bass had had the pick guard, the bridge cover and the pick-up cover fitted by a previous owner so the lacquer under the pick guard has the usual holes (can get pics if wanted). However, the bridge cover no longer fits over the new hi-mass bridge. Included are all the original parts (bridge & pickup cover, original Fender BBOT bridge, reverse tuners, pick-ups plus all screws) etc to return to original, should you want to. It comes with the original Fender G&G hard case and it even comes with original US made leather thin strap! Currently strung with Chromes flatwounds 45 - 100's with tons of life. Weight is 4.2kg and it's really well balanced with the lightweight tuners on. I'm asking £1,250 £1,000 for this bass, which I think is a bargain, all things considered! (a new one, if you can find one, is £2,549 list). Cash on collection or PayPal is fine. Not keen to use a delivery service as they're crap on the whole, but it looks like a fully insured estimated for this is around £90 (with DPD). Only selling within the UK. Not looking for any other trades*. Thanks for looking.

Hi All Price Update 11/6/23 - Reduced to £900 *Would also consider part trade against a DB751 + cash Thinning the herd! Sad to part with it but I just don't play it anymore so someone else should benefit. It's literally sat in its' case since 2019! For sale is my Fender US Std Jazz from 2014. I bought it new from GAK in Brighton. Comes with the original case, plus all the candy. I fitted a set of Aguilar AG 4J - HC pickups (currently £200 ish) but include the original Custom Shop pickups in case you want to swap back. It also has LOXX strap locks fitted (plus the fitting tool) but I've mislaid the original ones. The neck has been wire wooled down and is very smooth now under the hand (the original finish was quite 'grabby'). It has one major 'bump', as shown in the pictures, on the top edge of the bass. Another guitar fell on it at a gig! Other that that, there's very minor wear. It's a great honest bass, sounds fab and not too heavy at 4.2KG. I'm asking £1000 £900 collected from Tunbridge Wells, Kent where the bass can be played before you buy. Delivery will have to be discussed, as it seems almost impossible to get a carrier to insure a guitar now and I'll not send unless it's fully insured. Happy for the buyer to arrange their own collection, but entirely at their own risk! Cash on collection or PayPal please. Not looking for any other trades*, thanks. Thanks for looking.

Hi all Having a clear-out as there are a few things I'm GASing for! MarkBass CMD121P - 2017 - Indonesian made I bought this new in 2018 and it was my gigging amp for a couple of years but replaced it with Aguilar & Barefaced in 2020 and so it's been my backup on the shelf ever since! MarkBass Tech Specs: https://www.markbass.it/product/mini-cmd-121p/ It all works as it should but I have bypassed the tweeter (I think it makes it sound better). It's a dead easy fix back to std, and I've even labelled the wires so you can't go wrong! Happy to reinstate to original if you'd rather not have the hassle! There's a thread on BC from 2009 that discusses the mod here: But I think it's better this way! Looking for £350 collected (you can try it first) or £400 fully insured (I'll only send fully insured, as have lost out in the past - currently DPD looking like the most reliable option here). Alternatively, you can sort your own carrier to collect and then you're free to do as you please 🙂 Only selling within the UK. Not looking for any trades, thanks. Cash on collection or PayPal is great but no 'gift' payments please. Any questions please feel free to ask & thanks for looking 🙂

Selling my old MarkBass SA450 (bought from GAK chuffin' years ago - 2007 I believe). Full working order really great sounding amp in amazing condition for its age. Has been sat in my studio as a backup for years. Not used it in anger since I got an Aguilar head in 2015. Comes with Markbass canvas amp bag (a little tatty as the front zip pocket has come undone along one seam - doesn't affect its use as an amp bag - it's still safe and secure). Price drop to £240 delivered or £225 collected (collection from Tunbridge Wells, Kent - can be heard working if collected. Also happy to meet up for swap within reason). These details from the Markbass website: INPUTS INPUT impedance: 500 Kohm, max. voltage: 9 Vpp EFFECT RETURN impedance: 33 Kohm, max. voltage: 12 Vpp CONTROLS GAIN -80 dB to +25 dB range LINE OUT level control on front panel PRE/POST EQ (for line out) switch on rear panel GROUND LIFT switch on rear panel MASTER VOLUME EQUALIZATION LOW center frequency: 40 Hz; level ±16 dB LOW-MID semi-parametric: frequency 100-800 Hz, level ±16 dB HIGH-MID semi-parametric: frequency 700 Hz-6 kHz, level ±16 dB HIGH 10 kHz shelf; level ±16 dB VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) center frequency 380 Hz (cut) VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) 250 Hz-20 kHz cut OUTPUTS EFFECT SEND unbalanced, max. voltage 12 Vpp (pre-EQ) TUNER OUT unbalanced, max. voltage 2 Vpp LINE OUT balanced XLR, max. voltage 25 Vpp SPEAKER OUT speakon, 1/4" OTHER HEIGHT 3.39 in. / 8.6 cm (2U) WIDTH 14.5" / 36.8 cm (with rack ears: 19" / 48.3 cm) DEPTH 11.9 in. / 30.2 cm WEIGHT 7.5 lbs / 3.4 kg OUTPUT POWER 300W RMS @ 8 ohm, 500W RMS @ 4 ohm POWER REQUIREMENT 100/120V; 230V; 240V 50/60Hz (Voltage is factory preset according to region of sale) The SA 450 is our standard, solid-state, professional head. Versatile and packed with features, this head provides more EQ control than the Little Mark II, a line out level control and pre/post EQ switch. Simple and true. Thanks for looking!!

Hi All Having a clear out of unused kit! First to go is my Future Impact v1, updated to v3.03 (latest update is to v3.6 but it's dead easy to do via midi). Bought on a bit of a whim and very little used. Has original box and paperwork. Controller software is available from Panda Audio (http://pandamidi.com/support). Has velcro on the bottom but will come off if necessary, as you're all probably aware! Good fun pedal - just don't use it so can't justify keeping it tbh. Looking for £200 + postage or maybe a trade against a 3leaf Audio Doom 2 if you have one that you don't want! Thanks for looking

Yes, the black handled ones look like a Fret Tang nipper (for removing the tang from a section of fretwire) and the red look like fret tang crimpers (to make a slight scallop in the tang for wider cut fret slots). The file could be a fret shaping file (if the narrow edges have a radius to them?) but the 2 files in the red bags look like fret files so maybe not. Equally puzzled by the block/clamp and the blue clamp although the blue clamp looks just like a cam clamp. Where's Sherlock Holmes when you need him?

Hi Tony If you mean the flat response versus the standard in the J-Retro range - the standard version has a subtle EQ contour (a bit scooped) whereas the flat response version (the one I'm selling) does not. If you're referring to the other models in the range (J - Retro Deluxe or J - Tone) then there's loads of detail on the East website www.east-uk.com Cheers

Depends on the basses you're carrying. It is heavier obviously, but I frequently take mine with a Sadowsky 5 string (US, so chambered and light by default) and my Fender Nate Mendel P (not the heaviest P bass ever made) and it's not horrible. Can be a little more awkward in a tight corridor though 😳! Still quite comfy worn on your back - can be a bit much over one shoulder for extended periods. Certainly better than taking 2 cases and, as others have already mentioned, built like a tank!

Having a bit of a clear out and came across my J-Retro 01. Purchased from Bass Direct back in May 2016, fitted to my USA Jazz for a few months, didn't get on with it so reverted back to passive and popped it in the cupboard in my studio. It's been there ever since! It's the flat response version, so no pre-shape - full details here https://www.east-uk.com/product/j-retro-01/ Comes with original box, still with the anti-static bag plus all the paperwork/fitting instructions. There are some pen marks on the knobs (pictured) where I marked them (with a Sharpie!) for my own reference. I'm sure these would clean off with solvent and a little tlc. This was £195 when I bought it in 2016 and, remarkably, they're still the same price (just checked Johns website) new. Looking for £140 £120 delivered within UK (Royal Mail 24hr Tracked Insured to £100) Payment via PayPal preferred (I'll cover the fees) or £130 £110 cash on collection if you'd rather? Thanks for looking 🙂

Back in the day when my back could take it and band members were more helpful during load in I had a Mesa Boogie 2x10 Road Ready on top of a Mesa Boogie Road Ready 1x15. Played a Stingray through an Ampeg SVT3. Loved that sound/setup. Then Markbass came along....
-
Good point - I didn't factor that into my reply. However, I do think it's worth spending out on a case that will last and protect the investment inside. I've had several cheap cases over the years which are now in the attic/bin. I guess if it's only for occasional light use then a cheaper bag would probably be ok, but my Mono's have been dragged all over the country for years and are still going strong. They've certainly been worth the cost. They are expensive though, so I get why they may not be best for the OP.
-
Another +1 for Mono. I use the Vertigo for a single bass and I have the M80 dual for when I need to take a 2nd bass. I have the Protection Racket one too but the zips have let me down on my one. Vertigo is my fave - totally trust it with my Sadowsky and it's comfy to carry on the tube, etc. The other thing for me is the Vertigo is more ergonomic in everyday use. I rarely lay any case down, unzip and remove the guitar. The Vertigo is designed to allow you to pack/unpack your bass vertically and, most importantly, avoiding scratching the body against the zip. The Protection Racket, because of its' rigid sidewalls, was terrible for this in my experience. Just my thoughts/experience - YMMV

Hi All - late to the party but thought I'd chime in with my thoughts. Went to Barefaced last week to try the BB2 & SC - took my amp (AG700) and my Sadowsky and one of my MarkBass NY121 for comparison. Firstly (and probably most obviously) - the NY121 is completely out of it's depth in this company! Sorry Marco 😬... Anyhow, spent a good 60/90 mins flipping between the cabs - here's my take (amp flat, both pickups flat out, 6/10 preamp boost on treble & bass): With the HF off on the BB2, they sound very similar to each other tone wise but you can hear the BB2 breathe more (probably because of the box size/design). It just sounds 'bigger'. Dial in the HF and it starts to sparkle. 10/10 was way too much for me, but about 5/10 added some lovely definition without sounding glassy or brittle. The low end on the BB2 sounded fuller also, but not boomy - very controlled, especially at higher volume. And the tone didn't change when you cranked the volume. It just got louder. Side by side the SC sounded more present in the mids (this was probably accentuated more by the Sadowsky, which is naturally 'middy' and the fact that the box is shallower) but not unpleasantly so. I don't think it paired quite so well with the Sadowsky. Not that the SC sounded bad, far from it, it made the MB cab sound like a ferkin' iPhone! (Sorry Marco..) The SC's a great sounding cab. The BB2 just brings more to the party in my opinion. So I went home and ordered one 😂 (Sorry Marco 😬). By the way, there's 2 x NYC 121's for sale in the Marketplace 😛 Sorry Marco 🥴.

I had the very same GAS for a Sadowsky until March this year, when I pulled the trigger and bought a Satin Deluxe 5 from Bass Direct. I'm so glad I did and I just love it. It's prompted me to sell my beloved Fodera (check the basses for sale section) and I've barely played my Fenders since. Mines a NYC model so has a chambered body - love the weight reduction and, IMO, it adds to the tone. And it does cut through in a band situation, more so than any of my other basses. I play in a 'pop' orchestra (a la London Grammar), a rock/funk originals band, a function band and I dep for a few other acts locally and I've had comments on its' tone from each one - more so than I ever had on any other bass, even the Fodera. As always, it's just my opinion based on my own experience, but I say if you've got the money and the GAS then go for it - life's too short. Worst case, it's not for you and you move it on - at least you've scratched the itch! Pic below!
