1. I bought a set of Wizard 84's from Ed. They arrived well packaged and in absolutely mint condition.... Thanks!
2. I bought an SKB rack case from Steve. It is in better condition than I was expecting, and a good price... so I am very pleased! Nice guy to deal with.
3.
For example, a Trace 1x15 combo always sounded bassier than the 4x10 combo.
Many, many moons ago... I traded my Trace 1x15 combo for a 4x10 because the 4x10 had more useable bottom end (To my ears). I make no claim to be an expert in the subject, but I think this has more to do with cabinet and driver design (and compatibility) than the size of the driver itself. As with motorcycle (or car) engines, the displacement and number of cylinders does not give an accurate clue to actual performance.... It is all about tuning.
4.
Did you check that you'd installed both pickups the same way round? If you put one in the wrong way round then that would reverse the direction of the coil, so swapping the wires would sort it out.
Hi, I originally wired them 'Black to earth' (The can of the pot). Swapping one of them to 'White to earth' seems to have sorted the problem. If you mean physically... I fitted both of the pickups so that the soldered terminals on them are at the top of the bass (when holding it).
5. Problem solved. I swapped the wires around on one of the pots, and all is well. This means that one pick-up is wired 'White to earth' and the other 'Black to earth', but hey.... It's working! Thanks for the advice.
6. Definately don't want to sound like Mark King... Although I would like to have his talent (and possibly his bank balance?). I was always happy with my Trace 1153, which I used paired with a 2x10.
7. A Compact is sounding promising... I like the desription of it being like a 'super loud Trace 1153'. Don't get me wrong I think the Aggie is a nice cab, and I nearly bought a second one, but it does lack clarity and top for what I need. I don't want to compromise, I am not very good at it!
8. I have checked, and yes I have definately wired them correctly.... black to earth and white to the centre terminal of the pots. The output drop with both p/ups on full is so much that the bass is not useable. I'll try swapping the wires on one of the pots tomorrow. ....unless anyone has any other ideas? p.s. It was working fine before I took out the EMG selects and fitted the Wizards 84s.
9. Fairly sure that I soldered both black wires to the top of their pots. I'll double check.
10. I have just finished swapping out the pups on my Jazz for Wizard 84's. Either one on its own produces a healthy output, but... Both on together and the volume drops considerably. What have I done?????

Jon bought my MarkBass SA450. The deal was 'done and dusted' in minutes.... Top guy to deal with!
12. Thanks for the replies. At the moment I use: An Aguilar GS112... Nice bottom end, but (To my ears) muddy mids and not much in the way of top end (I don't mean tweeter type top). An Ashdown 2x10 Neo... Nice top end, a bit harsh in the mids and not much bottom end. Together they seem to compensate for each other, but as I raise (or lower) the 'loudness' controls the sound seems to change. (Mixing drivers?) This means that I am having to mess with my EQ as well as turning up the volume...... I think? My old Trace rig, when turned up, just got louder. So, what do I want to achieve? (Please excuse the desription) Ideally, a speaker system that has deep smooth lows, clear articulate mids without being harsh, and some bright top end without using a tweeter. Loud enough for your average pub type venue. Easy to carry on my own. ....Hence the question regarding the Compact (or 2).
13. I am interested in the rack case.... pm sent.
14. There seems to be a lot of love for both these cabs, but... As tone (and love) is subjective, what about a direct a/b between the two. How do they compare in terms of: Loudness Bottom End Clarity etc. Or... Is it even a fair shoot-out?
15. Sold to Jon.
16. I have taken the plunge.... Sold the SA450 and ordered a Nemesis700. Will I regret it.... Guess I'll find out soon enough!
17.
Well if Mr.T will sell, I will buy!
PM replied to.
18. I am thinking of selling my 6 month old SA450 and getting another Eden. The amp is absolutely as new (It still has the tag on it) and will come with all the original packaging. I will need to raise £500 on it... Anyone interested?
19. I am thinking of getting another Eden amp. Unfortunately because of where I live, trying one first is not an option and it will have to be bought on-line. Is anyone out there using a RS400 or RS700? If so, could you please share your experiences with it as there seems to be very little info on the net. If anyone has a/b one with a Markbass or a WT series Eden, that would be cool. Part of my reason for thinking about changing from my SA450 is the fact that I find myself constantly fiddling with the EQ in search of the 'perfect' sound... and I am normally (in my Trace days) more of a 'set it and forget it' type person. I am looking for a sound that includes those vague terms 'Clean, Warm & Clear' without any 'Clank'.
20.
Too much gain on the mic channel ? Get the singer to sing closer to the mic and use less gain..... ?? ATB Mark
Yes, that seems to be the problem. On a bigger stage it isn't an issue. Unfortunately, although the rest of us are all old hands at gigging, our singer is relatively inexperienced.
21. Just got back from a multi-band gig. We used one of the earlier bands PA and I asked our singer (who was using his own mic.) to avoid standing in front of me. No feedback or booming....
22. Thanks for all the replies! I have been gigging for 25 years and never had this problem before. We only use PA (which doesn't have subs) for vocals, and I am sure it is only the main singers' mic. (SM58?) that is causing the problem. We never go through a house PA... the gigs are all fairly small here in Cornwall. First off, I'll check his PA settings at our next gig. For some strange reason, he has taken to standing in front of me and my rig recently.... so maybe a smack might be in order?
23. During our last few gigs, there has been a booming/feedback sound coming through the bands PA every now and again. It seems to be when our singer isn't standing between his mic. and my bass gear. I can't seem to get him to physically 'shield' his mic. and stop waving it around.... so I am wondering if he has set-up his amp differently, and what I can do about this.
