1.
Only to the matter of sizing them to the same width for stacking. A 1x15 and 2x10 truly engineered to work together does not and never has existed. Driver displacement and cabinet size requirements increase exponentially as frequency goes down, so while a 1x15/4x10 is a favorite combination the ratio is backwards; a well engineered system would run two to four 15s with one 10. A proper match for one 15 is one eight, or six. 'Matched sets' is a purely cosmetic matter, proper audio engineering is not a consideration.
Although 'technically' I am sure you are correct, they (Trace at least) do seem to work just fine with a 1x15 and a 2x10. (To my ears)....
2. +1 for the 'suck it and see' brigade. ... Unless you opt to go for a cabs that were designed (hopefully?) to work together as a pair. i.e. Trace designed their 1x15 and 2x10 as a set. I assume (some) other manufacturers do likewise. A matching 2x10 should in theory add brightness to your 1x15.

SOLD

...... And that buyer would be me!
5. Still for sale! Might consider a trade or p/x with a 4 string fretted bass of some kind. Status... Musicman... Jazz etc?
6. Yours has a slightly different back panel than mine. The fuse holder on mine is built into the mains socket. p.s. Does anyone want to buy it?
7. No switch on mine.... I guess it could still be converted to 120v though?
8.
And a price!! Can someone explain why people dont put prices on bloody adverts!!!
I did....
9.
Mine has a 240/120V switch on the back.
I can't find a 120/240v switch on mine?

13. Just to clarify.... The year of manufacture is 1998, so it is 'proper' Trace!

Tweeter
I find they mess with my distortion sounds horribly....
+1 I was struggling big-time with the sound of my new cabs (paticularly when using any distortion).... 'till I turned the tweeter off! Sounded great at home, but too 'clicky' when cranked up.
15. Will split.
16. +1 for the Squier VM Jazz. I have been playing a Status Empathy for the past 20 years, and have had many (failed) attempts at liking Fenders over the years. Anyway... I recently decided that I could really do with a back-up Bass and thought I'd once again try to get on with a Fender. (I have always liked the look of a natural finish Jazz). But... After reading so much positive feedback on the Squier VM Jazz, I bought one through the classifieds here. I didn't expect too much from it, but after playing at home I took it to rehearsal tonight to put it through it's paces. AND NOBODY NOTICED any difference in my sound! Ok, it doesn't play quite as easily as the Status. The sounds available are more limited. Although in the mix of the band it sat just nice. But this is a £200 Bass. I am seriously impressed... Well done Squier!!!!! I think I have found a second Bass that I can live with.
17.
Less is more, Brother.
+1..... That's blues bass in a nutshell. I 'cut my teeth' playing bass in blues bands around South London, and was never ever asked to play more notes. Sometimes it felt to me that some of my lines were too simple, but I remember a time when a more 'Jazz-funk' oriented player (Yes, I am talking a long time ago) depped for me while I was on holiday. I was concerned that I would be rumbled for not being a particularly great player... (I was new to bass at the time). Anyway... On my return, the band said "Thank God you are back, *** played too much and it sounded a mess" (Or something similar). So my advice would be: Go for a nice deep tone. Keep it simple and avoid the temptation to play more then is needed.
18. I have been asked a few questions about the cabs... The dimensions are: 19"W x 17"D x 24"H. They can be stacked upright or on their sides. The 2x10 weighs 70lbs approx. The 1x15 weighs 55lbs approx. They are rated at 200W, but as those of you who know Trace will already know, Trace always underate their specs. (Or some other manufacturers over-rate?). I am based in West Cornwall, but am happy to send by a courier of the buyers choice. Come on guys... let's have some offers!
19. Hi, If it is more bottom end you need, I would definately recommend the Aguilar GS112. I am using one of the 'no tweeter' versions underneath my 2x10 and it has bass by the shedload!
20. .... Forgot to mention that it obviously comes with power lead and speaker cables.
21.
dont use acid (y)
... or any other hallucinogens!
22. I haven't owned lots of Statii.... Just two. I bought my Status Empathy about 20 years ago. Clean it, change the strings, play it. I bought my Status Energy Fretless about 8 years ago. Clean it, change the strings, play it. Nuff said!
23.
I just want something lighter and smaller as I near the 40 mark...
Still a child!

25. The time has come to sell my trusty and much loved Trace rig. I have owned series V and series VI Trace and (IMO) this SMX is the best of the bunch! Amazing sound from smooooth to clanky, and plenty LOUD enough for any gig I have played... (I have never needed to turn up past 2.5). I have owned it since new, it is all in excellent order and I even still have the original handbook. It consists of: AH250smx amp 12 band EQ. Blendable valve and solid state pre. Built in 2 band compressor. Mute button. etc. etc. 1 x 15 (1153) cab 8 ohms 2 x 10 cab Adjustable 5" horn. 8 ohms. I will split the rig if enough interest. Amp £350 Cabs £175 each or £650 for the lot! I know that I am not exactly giving this away, but you will not find a better example of this classic English rig.
