1. Loving this thread! Love Hawkwind too! :) Well, don't know if you wanna consider
my band (ripped apart) Rock covers (we're all late 30's/40's).
We're looking for venues in west /central london/surrey areas etc.

If you look on my webpage ,that's the kinda thing we do.
The lineup's slightly changed since that demo ,but similar.

Any ideas of any venues for covers bands??

2.
Cheap bungee cord you can get from Wilkinsons if there's one nearby. You can get good trolleys from Homebase and Maplin but they're cheaper on eBay - search for folding sack barrow:

Cheers. Will do :)

3. Wouldn't think that being left handed has much to do with it,to be honest.
Getting a DVD/Book is a good idea. Iwould say that, ypu need to find out the type of music he listens to,
and a bass player in that field . (ie if it's funk ,checkout the jamiriqui bassist)
if it's metal ,checkout like Stevie harris or something.
Don't checkout Sid Vicious if he's into punk tho'......

4. Well, I'm looking at my current situation:Band rehearsal once every two weeks ,a few 'keepers'

and a possibility of getting my hands on 1 more bass that SHOULD complete my collection.

Okay , what I want soonest : Headcase for Aguilar AG500sc in TWEED.

What I wouldn't mind having eventually: Yellow Kubicki Ex Factor (drop D tuner)

Dean Stylist bass (yellow taxi style) ..yes yellow seems to be my choice of colour.

(could be worse ,could be pink)

Zon headless bass. If I got a kubicki, the 5 string may go,and apart from gorgeous..it rocks! (not many of them in the uk)

Things I could be offloading : Eden Nemesis nc-250 combo . Awesome! Me and band love it, but my rig is smaller, coz I don't drive.

8 string bass by CH guitars . Excellent condition ,but I can't see this being used much. Loud! Active p/ups. Made in korea.
Heavy and solid. Will find out body material (but think it's maple)

6 string bass by CH Guitars . Home use only. Strap button was removed ,as the one on my steiney broke.

Made in china.

Acoustic bass by CH Guitars . (slight chip on bridge thingy) not electric. Good for the tired bassist who just wants to noodle. :)

Effects: Bass V-AMP PRO still have box/instructions mint condition.. May do exchange for Bootzilla pedal .

I don't want to post anything. If you're interested ,I'm based in Twickenham.
I could meet in central london. I rehearse in Acton every other sunday, which is a great way of
having a feel and see what you think.

A rough guideline cashwise? If you were to buy one of the electric basses WITH THE EDEN COMBO£470.00 approx.

Any ideas, please let me know. No hurry,no worry. Just contemplating my situation at the mo'

Cheers

5.
I saw various bands when I was growing up at festivals, bike rallies etc. I think the first name band that I was aware of was Slade at a daytime roadshow gig in about '82 but they mimed and I was dissapointed. I had a ticket for a Cult gig in 85 that was cancelled, so I guess the first big gig I went to without adult supervision was Dio with Warlock in support in 87. Both bands were great for different reasons.
Yeah,I saw Dio and Warlock .Hammy odeon tho'. Really good gig.
Apart from being a real stunner,I think that Doro is my fave female singer :)

6.
Is it the plywood rack mount one? If it is, it should let the head 'breath' as you put it. I suppose they wouldnt make them if they were'nt suitable. Plus, theyre really protective! You cant go wrong with it!
I have the padded case which is excllent, obviously you cant leave it in the case when using it but it does the job well to transport it.

Hope this helps.

Dan
Thanks Dan. Think I'll get one .

7.
I had one a year or two back when I had an AG500. It looks great, is very protective and has no obstruction for the venting. The only thing is - as it is open front and back - it doesn't completely surround the head (unlike a rack case with removable ends) so if you are carrying it in the rain between car and venue door you will need to drape something over it to keep it dry. Otherwise highly recommended, if a little pricey
Yeah, its an Ag 500sc I have. I notice that the head is not properly protected, and a little pricey.
I'd probably use a carrier bag between car and venue. :) to protect it.
I 'm gonna get a tweed one . The main concern was the ventilation.
And of course ,it makes things easier if I can just leave head in cab ,play and take home without putting it in an out of case.

Cheers

8.
Monsters of Rock 1988

Helloween
Megadeth
Guns n Roses
David Lee Roth
Kiss
Iron Maiden

still have the tee shirt.
I was there.Never forget the stampede when Guns came on,seriously dangerous.
I was wondering why Megadeth were so bad,but Mr.Mustaine nearly died afterwards apparently.
I was a fan of Helloween, but I wasn't too impressed with them there.

The rest were good, and Maiden played a blinder :)

9. I remember seeing this lot ,on the 'crazy Tights' tour at wembley.
There was a post strike(no internet in those days).Lots of empty seats.
They were appalling, and were going through the motions at best.
They couldn't wait to get off ,and we just thought 'good riddance'.

Paul Stanley was so irritatating, touching his hair as if he just washed it.

Saw them at the Monsters of rock ,Donington/Cologne the same year , and they were much better.
