So it was you! I was looking at that!☹️
Ah well, you snooze, you lose.😁

To be honest I would’ve thought it would have been a much easier job converting a ‘70s 4001. Given you’re taking the fingerboard off, you could have changed the rods.

It was the price and the fact there shouldn’t be any hidden horrors which made my mind up, 🤣

  2. Well, it’s begun, I’ve picked up a 2020 4003 from the states at a decent price,(even with import duty).
It’s going straight to Steve at Guitarlodge to have most of the clever work done ,new fretboard, headstock wings, skunk stripes etc.  I’ve sourced the graphics and am very much left to decide pickups, pick guards, truss rod cover, knobs etc.
I guess the front strap ferrule was moved to the back?

I also could do with knowing what type of strap connection Lemmy used.

  3. So progress, I’ve had a long chat with a few people now, I may use a 4003 as a base, this is going to be a gigging instrument and I like the newer truss rod system. The cosmetics shouldn’t be an issue . Unless the right priced 4001 arrives. There’s so few 4000s about that I think it would be a shame to “wreck” one.

  4. Guys , as we’ve got sod all chance of playing for a while I thought I’d go through some of our kit and upgrade it.

Do you have any advice for the best 1/4”Jack to XLR cable to run from mixer to an active subwoofer with a 12m length?

  5. So whilst I sit at home bored out of my skull I was looking at one of my Basses and started to wonder what options there are for making an improvement.

What do you reckon to the EMG solderless P bass pickups?
I’ve got a Dean with EMGs on and I love the sound.

Sorry, I hadn't woke up properly or had my coffee and cigarette.... Thanks for getting me though 😂👍🏻 top man

That's good though regarding it being smoother, right? I know it's each to their own but I do like an active bass with a nice sweep of sounds than just having the raw 'metal bass' sound of active 5 strings.

Looks great, parts or original and I'm sure it sounds great too 😁🙌🏻

I did wonder which bass you were on about 😆

The sound is fantastic....just bloody heavy!

Bartolinis in a passive Jazz sound great in a band context, like a regular J bass with added thump but still really clear. What circuit does this have in it, is it a Bartolini TC or AGB?

The reason I got it was i was playing in a Doom Metal Band with a much more rounded sound and this was perfect, ironically I never got it back from setup before I left🤣

As far as I’m aware it’s all Bartolini circuitry but I’m not 100% sure.
