Cheers!
Has anyone got a picture or any idea where the extra holes were on the headstock?
-
Well, it’s begun, I’ve picked up a 2020 4003 from the states at a decent price,(even with import duty).
It’s going straight to Steve at Guitarlodge to have most of the clever work done ,new fretboard, headstock wings, skunk stripes etc. I’ve sourced the graphics and am very much left to decide pickups, pick guards, truss rod cover, knobs etc.
I guess the front strap ferrule was moved to the back?I also could do with knowing what type of strap connection Lemmy used.

Any views on the strap?

So progress, I’ve had a long chat with a few people now, I may use a 4003 as a base, this is going to be a gigging instrument and I like the newer truss rod system. The cosmetics shouldn’t be an issue . Unless the right priced 4001 arrives. There’s so few 4000s about that I think it would be a shame to “wreck” one.

So I suppose the million dollar question is what pickups do I put in🤔

Thanks for the info, unfortunately that one will cause me problems.......

Oh man , I’m very jealous! A friend of mine has one but I can’t remember which number.
Aren't they all slightly different?- 1

Clear as mud. I don't think you'll ever get the definitive spec.
Nice one, thanks for all the info, I’m hoping to get as close as I can but it also needs to be gigable etc. Really appreciate you taking the time👍

I know it got dropped many times! What I’ve got so far is that it has an extra fret, and is probably a mapleglo .

I don’t think Mr Hall can lay much claim to what Lemmy ended up playing 🤣

Guys , as we’ve got sod all chance of playing for a while I thought I’d go through some of our kit and upgrade it.
Do you have any advice for the best 1/4”Jack to XLR cable to run from mixer to an active subwoofer with a 12m length?

I went with a set of Geezer Butlers in the end...👍

So whilst I sit at home bored out of my skull I was looking at one of my Basses and started to wonder what options there are for making an improvement.
What do you reckon to the EMG solderless P bass pickups?
I’ve got a Dean with EMGs on and I love the sound. -
Cheers matey, just did mine, it’s really easy👍

Not yet, I’ve got one and keep forgetting, I get about 2hrs into rehearsals and I’m done in normally🤣

Sorry, I hadn't woke up properly or had my coffee and cigarette.... Thanks for getting me though 😂👍🏻 top man
That's good though regarding it being smoother, right? I know it's each to their own but I do like an active bass with a nice sweep of sounds than just having the raw 'metal bass' sound of active 5 strings.
Looks great, parts or original and I'm sure it sounds great too 😁🙌🏻
I did wonder which bass you were on about 😆
The sound is fantastic....just bloody heavy!

Bartolinis in a passive Jazz sound great in a band context, like a regular J bass with added thump but still really clear. What circuit does this have in it, is it a Bartolini TC or AGB?
The reason I got it was i was playing in a Doom Metal Band with a much more rounded sound and this was perfect, ironically I never got it back from setup before I left🤣
As far as I’m aware it’s all Bartolini circuitry but I’m not 100% sure.

It was the price and the fact there shouldn’t be any hidden horrors which made my mind up, 🤣
