  1. I don't like it. The guitar sounds are horrible. The stripped down version for two pianos and the version for piano roll are really good though.
  2. There are other bass players and Bernard Edwards.
  3. Mikro in action https://youtu.be/GYBngZkhqZ4
  4. Ibanez Mikro £170-ish. I love mine.
  5. Glad to be put right on this. I'm aware there is confusion about who played bass on the different eras of Serge recordings due to lack of credits. Someone should write a book on it.
  6. Worth listening to this as well. Brian Odgers....
  7. Such a great sound. Just a couple of points: firstly, you need bit of space around this sound to make it work...so no loud guitarists in the vacinity, secondly use rounds not flats to get it - when you palm or foam mute you'll need some twang from somewhere. Suits single coil pickups too, so a Jazz bass is a good choice.
  8. I'm a fan. I can't think of him without David Garibaldi though: those two were born for each other. One of the great rhythm sections.
  9. The AFRs are beautifully designed ergonomic basses. They're like works of art...but the flip side of them is the sound: I couldn't get on with the piezo pickup...a scratchy, fizzy, unnatural thing. You can dial the treble down to reduce the effect but then you tend to get a dull sound. In general I don't like Piezo pickups. They have that unpleasant quacky, fizzy rubber band sound in the upper frequencies.
  10. How do the pickup combinations work? Is it like a Strat?
  11. Nice. I see what you mean.
  12. I'd like one of those!
  13. Erm, well I will reply: obviously not during the current restrictions.🙄
  14. Really? I'd love to have a go...
  15. Have you got a sound example?
  16. I've always liked the sound of a bass guitar through a guitar amp...maybe it's a nostalgia thing from the days I couldn't afford a bass amp. It does aid twang for sure but I think the bass has to be right as well.
  17. Absolutely...however I definitely can't get this sound from any of my basses...
  18. Yeah, I'd agree with this...however the strings sound very taught and I'm not sure a 30" scale would produce unless they're heavy gauge, perhaps?
  19. I'm a big fan of extreme TWANG but you rarely hear it from a bass guitar...so this video caught my interest. At first I thought it might have been a baritone guitar in four string format or something...but I'm not sure. One thing I am sure of is it's certainly a mightily impressive sound. Can anyone tell me more about it? I'd like something like it (obviously not in double guitar format). Anyone got an instrument that sounds like this? Any tips or suggestions or modifications to regular basses come to mind..?
  20. Is there anywhere in London I could try this bass?
  21. I'm afraid I found it a bit of an unimaginative and obvious accompaniment to the music. It was a bad sign when the lamb actually lies down on Broadway when the lyric came up. Sorry, Clarky!
  22. Crikey, that beautiful. Oh god, I want one now.... 😕
  23. That JJ sound is really really great
