Ear Protection - What's really decent & off the shelf?
moley6knipe replied to Al Krow's topic in Accessories and Misc
I’ve got some Earpeace generic plugs: they’re ok. But really, don’t skimp, go custom moulded. I’ve got some old ACS plugs. (I think 27dB) and they’re ace. Must get new moulds / plugs though. Hint: always get your ears syringed and excess internal hair removed first 🤢 It’s STAGGERING the amount of hair in there from a) being old and male and b) haircuts! I might start wearing them when getting the barnet trimmed! 😀 -
NBD, and it makes me want to sell my Sadowskys!

This is a very very nice bass guitar. What a stunner! -
Sunday afternoons are great! Sounds like a nice gig…

Another Sunday afternoon/early evening gig for 4 Play at Riverside, Sutton Bridge. The glamour of it all! Went well. Turned up to see the guitarist heading home to get his pedalboard. One hour round trip 😝 Meant the PA and back line got setup properly though 😃 Played well: singer was driving so not on the usual barrage of rum and coke, which made a real difference. Good feedback, booked again for later in the year. Home by 20:30!!

That’s some hot board action right there. Splendid choices!

Last minute booking for 4 Play 😒 at Edward’s Bar in Grantham. 4:30 start, home by 9… great! 45 min drive each way. A little grim on the drive home coz of the weather. Played well enough, good feedback, decent pay and we played all bar one of the requests that came in. Another Sunday afternoon gig next weekend. I LIKE Sunday afternoon gigs!

I’m also intrigued by the Drop. One band is standard, the other is dropped half a tone. I have two basses. If I’d have been told (or asked, to be fair) earlier than “two days before the audition” I’d have learnt the songs down a fret coz I play 5 string 😂 So does it really track well enough to drop EVERYTHING you play to the set amount and still sound like your bass?

I want one. Absolutely no need whatsoever but yeah that’s had some thinking time behind it for sure.

M-Vave is great. So many things you can do with it for so little money.

So nice. Any board with a Meatsmoke probs wins the day to be honest.

Mods - isn’t the phrase “the smallish size of my board is a helpful guard from buying too many pedals” an instant ban?!

Blown my mind slightly, has this!!

Good grief. IT’S GOT THE POWER BUILT INTO THE FRAME. Some of them have USB outlets as well. This is interesting!!

Last one of the year for me tonight (Sat 16th). 4 Play 🤨 at Smith’s in Bourne. Good! 9 til 11:20, two sets. Played well, chucked in Can’t Get Enough without rehearsal and it was fine. Fairly quiet but everyone enjoyed it! Tight setup, and struggling for power points (I give in - I’ll bring my box of cables in future, it’s not my band / PA but…). Drummer had an amazing new sparkle green Gretsch. Bloody lovely!

Ah good to know! We played there loads when Johnny was running it, pre-Covid. Will have to get back in there…
