Hey Tim,pretty sure they use 45to100 sets.i asked the same question
-
For me it’s a Wal into a puma 900 into a barefaced bb2 or super12t.thats all I’ve ever wanted really:-)

Wow this looks interesting! Love the form factor as opposed to standard 4x10 units, think the extra height would help you hear it better standing nxt to it and defo easier to get through doorways etc.Now if it only had tilt back wheels and a top handle I reckon it would be pretty well perfect.only 47lbs for a 4x10 ! Crazy! Would love to have a blast on one:-) x

Done a gig in dorking last weekend, keyboardist left his pointy edged stand leaning up against a circular shelf around a column.muggings here turned around, nudged it slightly and it fell and smashed on of his keys to bits! (Keyboard was in a soft case on floor) luckily after a while he got over it and actually played a blinder on said synth! Said nxf time I’ll bring a hammer and bolster and tap a few more if it gets the best out of him!! :-)

The swb1 is a fab little bass,i asked chowny a few months ago if they could upgrade the innards of mine to pro spec and how much it would cost, they said their guitar tech guy would contact me with details but never did:-( I eventually put dimarzio model j pickups in it which has improved it,Can anyone recommend a pre amp upgrade please? Thanks x

Hi james, super 12T at the time, now use a B.B. 2 gen3 .yes I found the AER pretty far removed from what I was after soundwise
-
Hi james,I ordered an amp 3 from thomann about a year ago based on reviews on the net etc.first impression was good at home, and its certainly a well built .unit but ultimately realised for me anyway it couldn’t replicate or improve on the clarity/punch of my puma 900/barefaced exsisting set up I already had.if you’re not too bothered about having a tweeter then prehaps its worth trying, they are quality kit and I have to say thomann were brilliant with their no quibble returns policy.its pretty loud, but thought it seemed a bit heavier that the specced weight, but hey! That could just be me!! I done one gig with it as a trio, electric bass/rock type thing.volume wasn’t an issue at all, just not for me.regards, jeff

Hi folks, was wondering if anyone has one of these units and what they think of it? Looks pretty impressive little beast.cheers

Well played stu, good luck with things and whatever happens in the meantime, enjoy the Wal!

My puma 900 has been my go to head for the last 2/3 years.havn’t a bad word to say about it in all honesty.very versatile, small, powerful and reliable.currently using it with a bb2 and it kicks derrière! Highly recommended sir

If its in good nick, anywhere between 3.5/4 grand on here.more on eBay.

I was lucky enough to obtain a 5 string headed series 2 thru neck second hand approx a year ago.guy told me its about 2006 model.i have to admit that its become my go to bass rather than my mk ll Wal 5 .while I’ll always be a Wal freak the reasons are; b string just sounds more defined and punchy, though the tension seems quite loose ( same strings on both) yes the necks quite wide but for me the shallowness of it more than makes up for this in being less fatiguing on a 2 hour show . lighter. it stays in tune amazingly!!! So stable!! Love the thin body and ergonomics of the thing generally. also I don’t agree with the ‘sterile ‘ thingy.in my opinion I can dial in a nice warmth to the sound if required. can I hasten to add this is not a Wal slagging excersise because I will always love mine and am very privileged to own it but these are just honest things I have come to find since owning both. They are both amazing brands of bass guitar and we should be very proud they are british too!!

Defo agree with chris b on this! I use my bb2 with a puma 900 and it kicks arse! Can’t think of another single 12 neo thats got as much heft/ presence.great fun:-)
