1. Oh lord deliver me from temptation.. Stunning! Glwts
2. Hi, I play in a Phil collins tribute so naturally we do this number.personally I find it easier to incorporate the open a in the riff rather than the 5 th fret on the e string.the riff starts on a c.just find it sounds tighter and more percussive.hope this helps! Good luck!
3. Hi.just out of interest what model have you and what scale please? I havn't a six string by the way.sorry.thanks
4. It's sold.I met derik at Paul Hermans place place and the deal is done.just so everybody knows.
5. There's a barefaced super 15 for sale on here if you scroll down that classified .don't come up very often and having what Alex told me was the last one they ever made I can vouch for the sound of the bugger.and at a reasonable 600 quid.if oit budget allows I'd go for it!
6. Have a bump on me for one of the best bass guitars ever made.fantastic instruments!
7. Lovely basses great tones but I just found the reach on the neck too long and it made my shoulder ache like hell so she had to go.would love a medium scale series model... If anyones got one for sale in this country ( cough cough):-)
8. Mica told me she'd had health problems a while back .she got back to me then it all went silent again.maybe the reason; who knows??
9. Yes it took along time to get email response from Paul on another matter previous that I enquired about but then my financial position changed and I had to leave it anyway. But my experience upon dropping my bass off to him / meeting him and the work he done on it has only been positive. I'm sorry yours hasn't been . Incidentally I emailed mica at alembic a good while ago regarding a new jack socket. She got back to me initially and asked for pictures, which I sent but since then nothing. I did send her a reminder but nothing still. Guess people get real busy sometimes with other stuff, who knows ??
10. Sorry I forgot, his phone no is , 07796 815 556 Www. Walbasses.co.uk Hope this helps
11. Paul Herman is based at , The old cattle shed, Barracks farm Cobham road Fetcham Surrey kt22 9tp Yeah I guess an alembic does seem strange for AC/dc stuff but hey , it works/worked pretty good but like I said the wal gets the nod most times these days, the alembic being a bit 'toppy' for me . The wal sound is totally unique I think. It certainly works for me . :-)
12. If you excuse the terminology,I've come to look at the alembic as more of a ' sports car' in terms of useability for me in recent times.personally for slap style and sheer ergonomics it has no equal.mine has proved to be tempromental at times but having said that I play in an acdc tribute act and have used it many a time to good effect.I've never really thought of comparing it to the wal but I'd have to agree with your findings to some degree.much easier to dial in a useable sound on the wal .for everyday giggingthe wal gets the nod every time .now if I could get an alembic (small body signature shape) with wal pups then.........mmmm:-)
13. To be honest I prefer the simplicity of the controls on the passive.im no tech head and I love my wal 5 but in my opinion every setting, whatever you choose is very useable on the passive, whereas not so on the active.I find the same with my alembic actually. The output and 'girth' of sound from the single pup never ceases to amaze me! And nothing else has ever come close to offering that fat ,creamy smooth and definition of note sound .
14.
Never played a passive Wal. Have to say that I'm curious ... can you get anything like the same range of tones as with the active ones?
15. Oh wal!! Just got the my passive 4 back from Paul Herman. What a difference! General make over / set up etc . The man's a genius and a really nice bloke too. Couldn't be happier! The best just got better, In my opinion :-)
16. Hi, never played one but check out birdsong guitars. Based in texas.apparently they specialize in shortscale basses and have a model called a hy5. Looks really nice.think they have a through body stringing arrangement to give extra tension to the b string etc .would love to try one myself !:-)
17.
I've got a passive Wal, sounds pretty much identical to active ones, and it still has a very hot signal too. I reckon it's in the pickups!
yeah +1 to this as the yanks say . I can vouch to this :-)
18. IF ONLY IT HAD TILT BACK WHEELS IT WOULD BE SOO PERFECT!! Jeez I'm soo lazy these days :-D

20. One of my favourite bands but after seeing them twice, last time at the O2 centre a few years ago I made up my mind I wouldn't bother again. Both times the sound has been dire, I'm sad to say :-(
21. Both sets of cabs now sold. Sorry mods I couldn't seem to put in on the thread title .
