Hi Dave, obviously I was also through the PA/monitors etc last night but at the three rehearsals I’ve used it so far it really is great at this.. I think the actual clarity of the mid/top end stands out for me. X 😊

Great gig last night at the castle theatre in Wellingborough, first show with my new LFSys monza . Fantastic clarity and the fact that you can hear it very well from all sorts of different standing positions really is so refreshing. Very happy with it so far

I’m very sorry for your losses my friend. We all enjoy playing our music and we make some great friendships and memories along the way.sometimes when a group of us get along so well it’s like a family , it doesn’t always happen but when (if) it does it just makes for some of the absolute best of times for all involved. We can only cherish those moments and people. bless you Paul and I wish you all the very best mate x

I’ve not long taken delivery of 2x monzas from Steve.Decided a modular set up was best for me so I can utilise the full 4ohm of my tecamp puma 900 with the two when (if) needed. I’ve only used one at a rehearsal so far but first impressions are very very positive. The clarity is amazing ( I always prefer a clean sound anyway) and I found the bottom end nice and tight but certainly enough to not sound’thin’ at all. Gonna wait until they have some gigs under their belt before a proper review but very pleased so far. And the two together is very pleasant indeed but only had the chance to play them together at home and what with everything rattling it’s hard to get a proper’ idea if you know what I mean. I’ve put rubber feet on mine as I wasn’t happy that the way they stacked was stable enough.I’ve had six different BF cabs over the years that have served me brilliantly, but I think these bring something else to the table….x

That makes sense, d’addarios are my go to string normally anyway.Never use flats so can’t comment on that bit 😊

Strange because as much as I really do not like fender basses, i have to agree with you that their bass strings are actually very very good in my experience too.😊

I always think it’s ironic that my set up now is so lightweight and simple (bass=lead= amp= very small cab, no effects) and takes about a minute to sort out yet 99% of my time is spent helping lug everyone else’s stuff in/out and I AM expected to do it as well as drive the van sometimes. We have two drum kits to build/breakdown and i have to help unpack and wait until they are set up/ miked up before I can place my stuff because it’ll just get in the sound man’s way if I try to position it earlier. I am slightly younger than most of the core members and do sometimes think that’s the only reason I got the gig🤣. ’Appy dayz 🥴.Having said all that we do play some lovely venues and I do enjoy it ( mostly 🤣) x

Busy weekend with the Phil Collins tribute act NO JACKET REQUIRED. Fab gig Friday at Dorking halls where I used’the beast’, my faithful old wal and tonight’s ( ok last night 🤣) gig at the Hazlett theatre in Maidstone. Decided to use the ken smith for a change, such a comfortable bass to play and sounded great! Audiences at both shows were very receptive and really got into it!! All in all a very enjoyable couple of shows and a pleasure to play with such a nice bunch of people 😊.

I know what you mean about it maybe not being worth that because of the mod, but I guess a lot of people would argue that about the second hand prices SOME people are asking for theirs anyway? One thing for sure though, a passive wal still sounds like a wal, my pro II is probably my favourite, and I have a few. Certainly don’t think one loses much with a passive wal in my humble opinion x

I always had to work even when I was in a band years ago trying to ‘make it’Itwas a real struggle back then but when you’re young and hungry you can burn the candle at both ends! Obviously didn’t work for me of course 🤣 but it was bloody hard going and I don’t think it was ‘easier’ back then by any stretch. Not all of ‘em of course, but an awful lot of musicians that seem to make it do come from very comfortable backgrounds, but they don’t like advertising the fact. You can’t deny some of their talent, but being able to doss about and devote time to nurturing that talent without having to graft ya balls off all hours god made does help quite a lot. Having money in the family or well off parents that are willing to finance you and having no pressure to earn x amount every week must be very liberating. Definitely just as hard back then in my humble opinion.

Always thought bergantino were missing a trick by not putting tilt back casters on their 2x12 cabs and maybe a pull up handle on the 2x10 with casters. hope you get it sorted.😊x

I certainly have a love/hate relationship with Alembics. Wonderful craftsmanship there is no doubt but the mark king model I had sounded great but wasn’t very stable neck wise and seemed such a reach even to the third fret it used to kill my neck and shoulder. The Stanley Clarke I had, on the other hand , I’ve always said was the most comfortable bass to play I’ve ever had but try as I might i just couldn’t get a sound I liked out of it. Maybe it was just me but for all the filters and Q switches, for all the sounds they produce I found most of them just not ‘useable’ in real gigging/playing situations .Drove me crazy 🤣. I now have a distillate which seems to give me the best of both worlds.very comfortable with the 32’ neck (though it still feels much like a 34scale does on other makes) and much simpler to dial in a good sound (for me) without much fuss.

second hand genz streamliner 900 and a SH barefaced BB2 if you can find one. Job done x

Thanks very much, personally i think you’ll be better off sticking to a MK 3, I’ve never played one but they are slightly smaller body wise I believe and lighter.I’m lucky enough to have another mk2 that is quite a bit lighter than the pictured one and whilst it’s a beautiful bass of course I’m not quite sure its got the ‘authority’ to it as the above beaut for want of a better word? Maybe it is just the sheer weight of the thing that projects that across?? If you’re anywhere near Horsham West Sussex and you wanna have try before you decide please feel free to contact me. 😊

Amazing how quickly the time flies round every year, so again last night was the first of a double header we always do with the Phil Collins tribute ‘NO JACKET REQUIRED’ at a place called TRADING BOUNDARIES in Sussex just before Christmas. Very nice venue, punters have a sit down meal then we come on afterwards and do two sets.Always sells out for us and a very receptive audience albeit generally older (like us🤣) Decided to use my Wal Mach ll that I’ve had since new, brought from Wapping years ago. She’s a boat anchor for sure but THAT SOUND!! creamy, fat, and the ‘weight’ behind every note you play, and using a wide strap I find it absolutely fine really. So, yes a great gig and a luxury to be able to leave all the back line/drums etc set up for tonight’s show,(certainly don’t leave my basses there) too. Looking forward to more of the same tonight, hopefully!! Merry Crimbo everyone and my best wishes, Jeff x

Long shot but if you find yourself down in Sussex don’t hesitate to let me know and you can borrow one of mine. Sorry to hear about things and good luck sir x

There’s a 600 in the classified for 220 quid, a steal for that price, and no I do not have anything to do with the seller. Just saying….x -

Genz Benz streamliner , think there’s one in the classified. Very nice amps and you can pick them up quite reasonably nowadays . 😊
